Chris Spealler

A Top 5 finisher at the first ever CrossFit Games in 2007, veteran Rogue athlete Chris Spealler is also the only man from that event to earn a spot in the 2014 Games. But we’ve come to expect no less. For nearly a decade, the man they call Speal has been the ultimate picture of consistency and self-determination--showing just how far a 5’5”, 150 LB athlete can excel in one of the world’s most demanding sports.

As a former college wrestler from a family of standout athletes, Spealler quickly became one of CrossFit’s great ambassadors, impressing and inspiring newcomers to the sport with his underdog spirit, unequaled work ethic, and warm personality. Through his career, he’s won a pair of Southwest Regional titles and has three Top 10 finishes at the Games (2007, 2008, 2010). One of Speal’s most inspiring achievements, though, was battling back from narrowly missing the cut for the 2013 Games. At 35, against tougher competition than ever before, he returned in 2014 to finish 2nd at Regionals and punch his ticket for a seventh time.

Spealler says the ’14 Games were likely his last hurrah, but only time will tell. He continues to train and coach at CrossFit Park City in Utah, where he lives with his wife Sarah and their children Roark and Myla. Chris’s active partnership with Rogue includes his own line of Signature Series products, highlighted by the SPEAL Pull-Up Bar, Spealler Speed Ropes, and official Chris Spealler 2.0 T-Shirt.
