Prepare for a fun day!

We will be having a Rogue open house on the 12th of June. We want to encourage all members (and anyone who wants to check us out) to swing by. There will be free elements 1 class. A WOD for everyone, and even a Rogue style cookout. This will mark the one year anniversary of Rogue Fitness in this location. We will also take donations for our Rogue athletes Jay, Eric, and Caity as they prepare to travel to the Crossfit games.

Remember to stop in on Mondays and check out the elements 1 class. This is a chance to see what Rogue is all about.

You guys are amazing, keep up the good work.

Feel the heat

Today everyone felt the heat, and not just from the weather. The task today was to see how we all handle the clean and jerk mixed with some fast running. The idea is that we train all of our clients to do this with as much efficiency as possible. The core of this is the elements class. Without this class you would not be set up for success, however we take the time to train you the RIGHT way to lift. Still not sure, we have a few open slots Monday to start your week of elements.

Time to take the Rocking Chair Test!

Too often we say I am going to start that on Monday or I've always wanted to do that. The time has come to take the rocking chair test, what is that? When you are sitting in your rocking chair at 80 years old, think about whether or not you will look back and wish you had done something amazing. If the answer is yes then go out and try it, enjoy a new sport or hobby but get busy! If you choose not to exercise just know you will need someone to pull you out of your chair, most likely paying them or burdening a family member. You never know if you don't try, we see new people every Monday that are willing to work hard and the results are always there. If you have the chance come in and speak to some of our clients, they would love to tell you their story. We don't cater to young folks, our crew is made up of school teachers scaling to MMA fighters.

Don't fear what you don't know, take a chance!

DON'T BE AFRAID TO TAKE A CHANCE AND LOSE!

To our ROTC graduates, WE SALUTE YOU

Eric Jones & Joel Borgan graduate from OSU tomorrow and will be commissioned shortly after. Here is how we see there future!

Here is Eric and his co-pilot, watch Me!

Here they are at their beach party last night!

On a serious note, we are very proud of our ROTC athletes: Eric Jones, Joel Borgan, Andy Babos, Tom Crisp, Nathan Boyer & Tonya Burlingame. We started out with many and we are left with the strongest of will. All of these folks will make outstanding officers in the United States Military.

For those that are graduating, we salute you!

If you don't do a flyby in your jet, you bore me!

Tonya this one is for you! For those of you that don't know her, she is an absolutely amazing warrior. I am very proud to know that she will someday lead troops. We met her one day before she went to Air Assault school, she wanted to learn how to climb a rope. Now she chews steel and spits bullets.

We can't forget the Marines:

What is CrossFit?

Muscle and Fitness did a story on CrossFit at Andy Petranek's place a while back. How do you find out if it is for you? Real easy just come in for a free Elements class on Monday!

Sherri started hers on top of a 24" box! She is one of our first clients and has put in tons of time working on the skills we teach, today I think she impressed herself by doing the entire workout on the big box.

I have to admit I am not much of a morning person, but the morning crew kicks ass!

Lynn "The Punisher" destroyed the workout this morning, her improvements are astounding.

The word on the street is:

Changing your Fate

DSC04050.JPG
We treat everyone that walks through our door like an athlete, hence they end up performing at their optimal level. We don't have unreasonable goals for anyone, we just believe that you are capable of achieving things your mind doesn't fathom.

None of our athletes go on crash diets or starve themselves of good food. Pretty simple we recommend you eat Meats, Fruits, Vegetables, Nuts and Seeds. Even simpler do your shopping on the outskirts of the grocery store, don't go down the aisles. If it comes in a box most likely it is something that should be avoided.

Sound like something you may be interested in, join us on Saturday for some good fun, people and food! Free Elements class and workout to celebrate our one year anniversary.

Team Murph

DSC04244.JPG
In our skill/strength session we worked on the clean and jerk.
DSC04243.JPG

Then we progressed to a team workout based around the "Murph" workout. Below is the background story of the fallen hero:

Navy SEAL (Sea, Air, Land) Lt. Michael P. Murphy, 29, from Patchogue, NY. Murphy was killed by enemy forces during a reconnaissance mission, Operation Redwing, June 28, 2005. Murphy lead a four-man team tasked with finding a key Taliban leader in the mountainous terrain near Asadabad, Afghanistan, when they came under fire from a much larger enemy force with superior tactical position. Mortally wounded while exposing himself to enemy fire, Murphy knowingly left his position of cover to get a clear signal in order to communicate with his headquarters. While being shot at repeatedly, Murphy calmly provided his unit’s location and requested immediate support for his element. He returned to his cover position to continue the fight until finally succumbing to his wounds. U.S.

Carolyn breaks her own record. Again!

DSC04278.JPG

The anticipation was palpable today as the workout of the day was written on the Noon workout whiteboard. Max deadlifts. This would be a fairly normal day except for the fact that Carolyn Thomas was in attendance. A calm confidence was easily seen in her demeaner as she quickly surpassed even the big guys with plate after plate added to her hapless Pendlay bar. Everyone knew exactly what was going to happen. Carolyn was about to break her own deadlift record, that of the heaviest weight lifted by any female Rogue member. We all knew it was going to happen, but by how much was a mystery. 305 came just as easy as 105. So did 315. Then 325. Bill gave the order of one final rep. before the WOD would begin. Carolyn approached 340lbs with the same coolness as always and lifted it to waist level in one easy and perfect deadlift. Stay tuned for the video!

On a lighter note, win a free Musclemilk if you can come up with a caption for whatever is happening here:

Great Saturday workout!!

Our athletes are dedicated to getting in the gym and working hard. Today was no different. Everyone worked hard and burned their way through a tough workout! Doc put in a little extra today, running the 6 miles from his house as his warm up!

Hard work paying off!!

To get results you have to put some work in. Our athletes set their own goals, and they understand that the only way to reach them is to work hard. Getting into the gym at least 3-4 times a week is only the start. We are seeing everyone's progress on a daily basis, and it is awesome! If you want to see what it is all about email troy@roguefitness.com.

After a week of laying on the beach, Dan got back in the gym and hit some serious weight today!
DSC04404.JPG
Instead of taking their lunch break, our noon crew is busting it to get better!

Summer is the time for vacations. Some of our athletes have been to the beach, others have taken a Western States tour. No matter where you are headed, or where you have gone, you can still find time to get in the gym. Everyone needs time for rest and relaxation, the difference is that our athletes want to get back in here and WORK.

Finally Friday.

All everyone kept saying today is that they were glad it was Friday. It is the end to everyone's busy work week, but it did not show in the workouts today. Everyone competed and made the extra effort to finish their workout hard.

Working TOGETHER!!

We had a partner challenge today here at Rogue. Working in pairs, everyone helped each other through the workout. Sometimes working together give our athletes that extra motivation needed to finish the workout just as strong as they started it. If you want to come in and see what our team is all about, check out our Elements class that starts every Monday. Email troy@roguefitness.com if you are interested!

Its always good to come home for a Monday.

Every Monday we start elements #1 class. I love to see new clients learn about Rogue Fitness for the first time. It reminds me of exactly why I love Rogue Fitness and why I teach.

Trust me, there is nothing better than seeing the happiness, and success that our program can and does bring. If you have been reading our blog and have not taken part in Elements #1, it begins again on Monday.

Great job all levels today, I am happy to come home and see you all doing so well.

Keep up the great work!
