Sprint to the finish.

The workout today was a sprint. Everyone was very competitive and pushed until the final second. It is nice to see everyone working hard going into the holiday weekend. We will not have classes on Friday the 4th. Our weekend classes will follow our normal schedule.

Record breaker!

Every time we have an athlete break one of their personal records, it makes us as trainers proud. Today we had many of our clients pushing themselves to do the best that they can. Our athletes that have been getting in the gym 3-4 times a week have been getting stronger. We are not surprised, everyone has been working hard. Keep up it up!

Update on Rogue Athletes at the CrossFit Games!

I would upload pics from the games but I left my trusty cord in Columbus!

3 Athletes made their way to Aromas, California for the 2nd Annual CrossFit Games. The following is a summary of events on the first day.

We chose to the following order of events:

"Nasty Fran"

21-15-9

Very Strict Thrusters

Pullups - Bar must touch your chest

For Time!

J Thomas - J came fast out of the hole and was the second to the pullup bar in his heat right in front of OPT. He completed all 21 thrusters and pullups straight but was trying to stay out in the lead. Unfortunately he learned a tough lesson about running your own race. The chest pullups took their toll along with the thrusters and he hit a wall on the 15 round. He had a tough time keeping the pace and his normal 2:17 time turned into a long run. Without a doubt this was a tough workout, in the dirt and sun.

Eric Jones - Eric had a great run, again the heat and tough pullups put a drain on his time but he squeezed past J to put his time on the board. When you get in that competive environment it is tough not to burnout with intensity. Eric made a solid finish!

Caity Matter - Caity was the second to the pullup bar but the new pullups put a beating on her. The competition was very fierce. Each competitor had a judge and like J she had to repeat many reps to get the workout completed. Very frustrating to repeat reps was the experience of the entire team

Second workout:

5 Deadlift - 275/185

10 Burpees

5 Rounds

J Thomas - J finished first in this event even after he had to go back to the bar to complete a rep because he dropped the bar rather than following it to the ground. His time 2:41 was beaten by only one competitor later in the day. It was awesome to see him burn through this one

Eric Jones - EJ met his match with the deadlift only 40lbs off his max. He finished in true warrior fashion, sure to have a sore back

Caity Matter - Caity had the best time in this event, she will be awarded a prize for her 1st place finish

3rd event:

725M Hill Run aka Hill of Death

J Thomas - J had a strong start followed by an assault roll down the steep grade on the way down. He didn't let a few flips offset his desire to finish, picked right back up and ran it out

Eric Jones - Eric finished with a very strong time, running is not his strong point yet his time was great

Caity Matter - Caity finished second in her heat beating the 2 of the top 3 at the end of the day

Tomorrow is the final Event:

Squat Clean and Jerk 155/100 - 30 Reps for time

Caity has a little over one minute to make up due to the first event yet she is still in the top 5 of all women competitors. J and Eric have been conditioning themselves for an effort like this for a long time so this should be a good event for them.

I will keep you posted, time to sleep now

Go here for the detailed times, standings and heat times for tomorrow: http://www.crossfitgames.com

Caity Matter is the fittest woman in the world!

Update on the CrossFit Games:

J Thomas pulled a 7:15 on the clean and jerk workout

Eric Jones posted a strong finish with a 12 minute time, this is 5lbs less than he weighs! He put it over his head 30 times.

Caity Matter is officially the best woman in CrossFit, she beat the comp by 1 minute on the final workout. All workouts were totaled to determine the winner. They donned the winner early only to realize that Caity pulled a 3:21 on the workout. We screamed at her and at this point I have no voice from cheering the Rogue team on. I have never been more proud in my entire life!

J, Eric and Caity represented the Rogue team back home, we wouldn't be here without you!

Thanks to our clients, the Consig and family, Andrea and our fans!

"Caity the Champ!!"

This mornings workout involved a taste of what the Rogue athletes, Eric, J, and Caity, endured at the games Sunday with some victory laps worked in to celebrate Caity's big W!!!

Before the workout you could see the battle going on inside Dan's head when he was deciding which weight he was going to use for the workout. As you can see from the picture he choose the hard 155 pound road.

Then the win! Caity secured the title, "Fittest Woman on Earth"

Let the training begin for next year's events, we want all of you to go with us. Just like our facility the competition is open to all!

Are you ready for the challenge?

IMG_0371.JPG
Caity Matter and Jason Khalipa took the number one slot with noone even having them on their radar. I can speak for Caity that she worked extremely hard and had the best support group on Earth. Our Rogue clients welcomed us with banners, flowers and beverages.

Everyone stepped up and pulled the weight of 3 people! Andrea manned/womaned the store, and this is no small feat. Eddie and Cara kicked butt in class. Their efforts allowed us not to miss a beat!

There is a buzz around here, we added 8 new team members on Monday! Our ranks are full of people from all walks of life, the only common thread is that they are willing to work hard to achieve results.

We cater to a certain cross section of folks, they aren't a certain gender, age, ethnic background, education level etc ... they are just folks that want to make a change in their life! They have all earned their spot at Rogue Fitness.

We start a new training revolution every Monday at 11AM, 430PM & 730PM, email Troy to secure your spot: troy@roguefitness.com

Jennifer is a Beast!

A CrossFit Games inspired super workout hit the 6:00pm class today. Everyone attacked it and delt with it like true Rogue warriors, but one member stood above the rest with her display of sheer strength and intensity. Jennifer selected 135lbs for her deadlifts and 95 lbs for her clean and jerks and completed all fifty reps of each with near perfect form. Awesome job Jen!

Monday fun day on the lake?

While there was no lake involved there was rowing. Our clients had a sprint race of 500 meters to see who was the fastest. The trick was they each pulled three heats with little to no rest. The times were blistering, with the fastest in the low 1:30's.

DSC04883.JPG
Every so often somebody comes along and needs a kick in the pants. This guy has taken some serious abuse from his peers and instructors, all in good fun. Over the last few months Peter has really turned a corner, getting strong and working very hard to dial in his diet. By dialing in his diet, we mean not drinking chocolate milk. Like I said we pick on him a little, some folks fold under pressure to get better. Congrats to Peter for taking it on the chin and persevering, we are all very proud.

We had another great week with the Elements classes, make sure and sign up for the next training revolution on Monday. Email Troy to sign up: troy@roguefitness.com

Aaron Acox the mad man of Columbus Ohio

He loves soccer hence his street name, "Red Card". He is a great addition to our classes, always working very hard. His motivation level is off the charts. If you see him please call him "RED CARD", yelling at him would be best. He loves his name.

We are seeing new numbers on the Goal board!

It is always nice to start the week off right here at Rogue. We had the majority of our athletes pressing more weight over their head than even they thought was possible. All the goals on the board in the gym are starting to fall, and we are all getting stronger! If you want to work with a bunch of people who are motivated, come check us out. Our Elements classes start every Monday. Email troy@roguefitness.com if you want to join the team!

We call him Red Card, you can call him Aaron. Whatever name you choose, congratulate him on moving to Level II!

July 22, 2008

Taking pride in what you do.

All of our athletes take pride in what they are doing in the gym here at Rogue. It is nice knowing that walking into the gym everyday, our athletes love what they are doing and are not afraid to share it with their friends and family. With how hard everyone is working, they should be proud!

DSC05044.JPG
Awesome job Kelly, another PR. Keep up the great work!

DSC05054.JPG
Everyone tonight put in some serious work.

She has been doing everything with her left arm, and with this look on her face, even I am scared!

Father, Mother & Son

Dan Horn "The Dad" knocking out some front squats in the strength session.
DSC05076.JPG
Codey Horn "The Young Spartan" knocking out 75lb strict presses, he did a total of 42 reps during the workout.

This family is dedicated and the results are insane, Codey has put on 17lbs over the past few months. Dan lost nearly 30lbs. Heather's strength gains are off the charts and her form is second to none. This family wins the Rogue Family award, yes we just came up with that 5 minutes ago. Keep up the hard work and thanks for leading by example.

This proves that our program is scaleable to anyone that is interested in working hard. Our next free Elements class is on Monday at 11AM, 430PM & 730PM. Email Troy to get signed up: troy@roguefitness.com

Man Down

DSC05094.JPG
Kyle and Cody came in to finish Elements 2 this evening. The running back and offensive lineman from Capital met their match, I stepped up the workout a little.

Burpees were the nail in the coffin for Kyle. These guys are some serious athletes, welcome to the Rogue crew!

We train soccer moms, MMA fighters, Hockey players, Army special ops and collegiate athletes in the same pipeline. All have the same results, breaking records on a regular basis!

July 24, 2008

Finally!

Have you ever wanted something really bad? Our athlete Tanya Burlingame has wanted to hit 200 lbs with her deadlift for a long time. Today was the day! It is great for all the trainers here at Rogue to see our athletes achieve their goals and get so happy about it. Everyone wants to work as hard as they can to reach their goals. Great job to all our athletes, keep up the hard work!!

Don't Be Late!

The winner of today's "Chuck Norris" workout got this tshirt printed at Hollywood Imprints by BJ and Davidee.
DSC05216.JPG

We had a busy class this morning however about 6 people were late to class! The following Rogue Rule will be enforced with much vigelance:

For Every One Minute Late - 10 Burpees

If you are late just ask yourself what Chuck would do, he would just start doing burpees!

We had a few visitors Lamarr, Zionna and Jerry. It is always great to have traveling CrossFitters stop in for a workout. Lamarr and Zionna are driving to Denver today - 22 hours oohhh Kansas. Look for a great affiliate in Orange county, two great people.

Oh yeah and it is 10 burpees for wearing these glasses and a superman shirt combo!

Mueller Boys Future!

This is one of the funniest videos I have ever seen! The only difference is Kevin's boys would go over and sock someone in the head after completing their reps.

Kevin Mueller to Compete Saturday!

Kevin Mueller is competing on Saturday at the Ohio State Fair, here is the schedule: http://www.columbusweightlifting.org/2008/ohio-sf-2008.html
Kevin will lift at 2PM

Please come out and support one of our most elite athletes in his bid to secure the Masters comp!

Perfection!

Every once in awhile you have to sit back and think to yourself why you chase perfection in life. No one is ever perfect, but you can get as close to it as you want. If you work at something hard enough, and spend enough time doing it, you will get there. Here at Rogue, our athletes work every day at getting that perfect lift or a perfect workout. Wanting to perform the best that one can gives our athletes a reason to reach their goals. Today, it was all about the perfect clean, and at some point during each workout, they all got it!

Good Luck Brendan!

One of our own, Brendan Devine is leaving us next week to pursue a career in medicine. Brendan will be attending Wright State University medical school. He has worked hard since he walked through the door and became a fire breather in a short period of time. From the entire crew here at Rogue, GOOD LUCK!

No more "NC" for Shane!

A couple of weeks ago the Rogue athletes did a workout involving pull-ups using the CrossFit games standards, chest to the bar. If you weren't able to do the pull-ups, chest to bar, they were still scored but you had "NC" written by your time. The "NC" means "no chest" or that you did the pull ups but you didn't touch your chest to bar every rep. Apparently Shane got a "NC" beside his score. Shane didn't agree with the "NC" charge. Well today Shane showed everybody at Rogue what he is truly capable of. Shane executed 22, strict dead hang pull-ups touching his chest to the bar on every single repetition!! Way to go!

DSC05375.JPG
