Active people always have aches and pains that limit their performance and that may lead to unnecessary medical visits.
With a little education and the right tools, many of the minor injuries that CrossFit™ athletes experience, can be alleviated, getting them back to working out faster.
In addition, form-limiting mobility issues can be fixed leading to greater speed and power due to improved mechanics.
Products like VooDoo Floss, Foam Rollers and Rumble Rollers can be used to break up problem areas such as adhesions between muscle and fascia as well as knots within muscles. Often taking care of these mobility issues can allow athletes to assume more mechanically advantageous positions under a load, leading to greater performance.
Often muscle imbalances lead to suboptimal joint mechanics. For example, many athletes focus more on pressing than pulling movements and have stronger, and tighter pectoralis muscles than rhomboids. This can lead to a hunched shoulders, poor thoracic curvature, and difficulty with an overhead position. Mobility bands offer a safe way to stretch muscles and ensure bones are well seated within joints. Proper stretching using mobility bands can help reestablish a normal range of motion, which will not only improve performance, but can help prevent premature degenerative changes.
