We learned that in order to make a really great OLY bar we needed to do the following:
  • 1Steel

We needed the best steel made in the U.S. During this process we chose to change all of our base steel to a higher minimum tensile strength of 190,000 PSI.

The goal was to create just the right amount of “whip” or “flex” that is needed for Olympic lifting.

We've also introduced a 215,000 PSI Bar, The Euro 28MM Olympic WL Bar, simply because we want to allow the lifter to choose.

Each bar is tested for straightness and straightened to within 0.015" (0.38mm)

  • 2Knurl

This is where the knack comes into play. We studied every facet of every knurl made to understand where we needed to land. Our end goal was a very full, not sharp and uniform pattern.

Some bars use a more passive knurl, with our machinery we can produce the full range from passive to aggressive. Our goal is allow the lifter to decide what they want, we will offer a more passive version and a full feeling knurl. We have said this before that creating the perfect knurl is much like creating a micro brew beer, lots of testing to get the right combination of things.

In order to create this knurl we had a machine custom built for knurling. This has allowed us to generate many different variations of knurl patterns.

  • 3Fit & Finish

We will be introducing this bar in Polished Chrome and Bright Zinc. Each bar is fitted with a machined stainless steel end cap, built with precision to finish the bar.

28MM Olympic Weightlifting Bar

Our latest barbell is a 28MM Olympic Weightlifting bar with 10 sets of needle bearings, 5 sets per sleeve. We set out to create a bar that anyone would be proud to use and you wouldn't be settling for anything. Simply put we are working on making the best bar in the world.

There is a great deal of hype and myth around the best bars in the world, we have simply found it unimaginable that we could not produce a great bar in the United States. So we began researching and understanding just what is true and what is not. In a way it is like deciding to enter a car into a Formula 1 race, there are things you need to learn real fast or you are going to get smoked.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice bar I recently purchased the "Rogue Olympic WL Bar w/ Center Knurl - Polished Chrome" bar. I've used it for a few sessions now and really like it. I'm just an intermediate lifter not advanced/elite, so my view is based that level of experience of weightlifting. The place I train at most of the time has Eleiko bars/plates so that's was I'm mostly used to. I use this bar in my own gym and purchased it due to not wanting/needing a $1k bar for my own gym. At my level the most difference I see/feel is the knurling. This Rogue bar is a touch "smoother" (it's hard to describe knurling), and I almost like it more for longer weightlifting session because it chews my hands up less. You can still grip it just fine. Actual lifting wise I really can't tell much difference from the Eleiko bar. It spins really nice and I can't really tell much difference here either. Summary- I'm glad I got this bar and if you're stressing about there being a big negative difference between certified comp bars and this bar then I wouldn't worry. In my view its a great bar for weightlifting and I'd buy it again. I can't speak to longevity at this point. Rogue also shipped it immediately and I got it in 2 days. Very happy overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Perfect I bought this bar the day after my birthday and it shipped the same exact day. The bar arrived 2 days later (much faster than I expected). The bar was packaged extremely well, and when I finally got it out I was amazed. The knurling is absolutely perfect, not too rough, not too smooth. The bar spins for what seems like forever. The whip is perfect. This bar is worth much more than the 525 dollars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great customer service and performance. Finish? The quick - bought the bright zinc version in October. Within a few months the finish looked bad, with corrosion on the knurled and non-knurled parts of the shaft (even with maintenance). After a few emails with Rogue and exchange of some photos, they replaced the bar free of charge. Fantastic customer service! One of the main reasons I keep buying from them. The detail - I wanted a real WL bar for home garage after years of using Rogue bars v1 and v2 at various gyms (including one I owned). I went with the bright zinc version bc I wanted the center knurl and didn't want to pay the additional $110 for chrome version (wish I had). First time owing a bright zinc bar so when I saw the finish begin to deteriorate after a few months of using, I was concerned. Maybe this is normal, which is why I contacted Rogue. But they replaced it and wanted the bar back to evaluate it (they even paid for return shipping; again, great customer service). The performance of the bar is great as well. I like the slightly aggressive knurling on the hands and the more passive center knurl. The sleeves are well machined and spin like nothing I've ever used. They are so well made that you have to use clips when the weight gets heavy else the bumpers will slide as the bar bends. I'm not a good enough WLer to comment on the whip but it sure feels different than a multi-purpose bar. I've PRd my BS, in part because I'm able to bounce out of the hole timing the flex of the bar. Overall, I rate this bar a 4+ for performance, a 3 for finish and a 5+ for Rogue customer service. I would recommend this with the caveat that i don't think the finish will age well. I'd advise paying the extra $110 for the polished chrome

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bar at a great price 4.5/5 This is a great barbell that is loaded with features you'll find in bars in the upper tier/elite range. First off, I will say the only bad thing about this bar is that the knurling is a little aggressive for daily or twice a day training. The bite is somewhere in between an Eleiko Olympic WL training bar and Eleiko Olympic WL competition. With that out of the way I would say it's priced right where it should be for what it is. If Rogue had this bar IWF certified they could probably fetch another $200-$300. The bar spins evenly and freely, more so than the Eleiko Olympic WL training bar I also use frequently. The Rogue bar outclasses the competition in its price range like the Pendlay bearing, DHS training bar, and Eleiko sport training bar. Nothing wrong with these, but they do not compare in spin, finish, and customer service in one package. I would say the only bar I've trained on that comes near this is the ZKC training bar (another $120) but good luck finding one in stock. Made in the USA and from a great company, what more could you ask for? The only thing that's left is to see if the bar will last years/decades like an Eleiko since this seems like Rogue's direct competition of quality barbells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bar I had been training on a rogue wl bar for nearly a year before I bought my own. The bar has a tacky knurl, it spins freely, and has a fair amount of whip. It's held up well to at years worth of several people using it. The bar I bought has a center knurl which is a nice option to provide for the customers. The center knurl is very passive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar I look at distain on all bars in every gym I have been in since getting this barbell for my garage. The bar has great knurl, perfect whip and spins forever. Well done Rogue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from awesome bar So i've used this bar for about 7 months now and it's amazing. knurling is medium and will not gnaw on your hands. It has a great whip and oscillation to it when snatching and cleaning. Timing on the jerk as the bar oscillates is key and this bar is sure to do that. The one that i have is the first batch of bars to come out and while the spin isn't quite has smooth, it's nothing major I can complain about. Great bar for the buck!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect OLY Bar! I usually never write reviews but I wanted to share my experience with this bar since it was that good. I bought this bar in the Polished Chrome version and cannot be more happy with my purchase. I've used many different kinds of bars and this is by far the best barbell I've owned. I previously owned a Ohio Bar in black oxide and that bar for all around use was amazing as well as some rouge bars, but after deciding to get a little more serious with Olympic Weightlifting I started my search for a bearing bar. I looked into the other companies and what they offered, and then tried a friend's Pendlay bearing bar. While the Pendlay was nice, I didn't like the knurling. It was really rough. Also having owned rouge products in the past with amazing customer service I decided to take the chance on the rouge bar. When I got the bar I put it along side the Pendlay and what a difference in fit and finish. You can tell the Rouge bearing bar is quality. The spin is as good as it can get and what did it for me was the knurling. Its finer than the ohio bar yet more tacky if that makes sense. The bar also has more whip than the ohio which is great. All in all an amazing bar. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let it rip This bar is fantastic. I've been lifting on elieko and werksan bars for the past few years and this bar is right there. You cannot go wrong. Smooth spin, knurling is not to sharp but not passive. Plus it's American made and you cannot go wrong with that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bar that I've owned! I've owned or own bars from Ivanko, Pendlay, York (elite comp 32000), Werksan training, and a Rogue Economy bar...have used DHS and competed on Eleikos... The Rogue WL bearing bar is AMAZING. I'm VERY impressed. I have an eye for detail and appreciate quality and precision. I also appreciate value for my money. It's obvious that these bars are made with care and great attention to detail. First thing I did was put this bar on my jerk boxes and spin the shaft while watching the ends. My york bar was warped out of the shipping container, like other bars that I won't mention. The Rogue WL was perfectly straight. Raw bar stock from the mill is never perfectly straight and the straightness is hit or miss, give or take. I may be wrong, but I believe Ivanko and Rogue are the only two U.S bar manufacturers that straighten their steel in a special machine. The difference is noticeable. The spin is very clean and precise. When warming up on cleans with just the bar tonight, I could hear the sleeves go [swiiish]. There is no side to side play. The knurl is more passive than my Werksan, but comfortable and grippy. Thanks. - Happy customer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing bar!!!! I bought one of the used bars from the games. If it was used it must not have had much use as it looks brand new. The only two bars I own for Olympic lifting are a pendlay bushing bar and a Vulkan Strength Bushing bar, after getting to use this bar they seem like garbage. The spin is amazing, perfect knurling, and great whip. I have used an elieko competition bar and this feels just as good as it. Best purchase I have ever made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar I bought a 15KG and a 20KG Bar that were used in the games . We have all the other brand Oly bars and the all my kids , wife and myself as well as everyone at my gym loves them so much that we just used them in the Kansas state championship for Olympic lifting and everyone I talked to loved them .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Polished Chrome and Mine I got one of the bars used from the 2014 Games. I've lifted for about 2 years on my Rogue 1.0 bar in my garage gym and have some experience with Werksan equipment at my Olympic Weightlifting gym. This finish on the polished chrome bar is beautiful. The ring of brass at the end of the sleeve adds a nice highlight and the blue end caps are sharp looking and solid. I love the knurling on the bar. The first impression is that it is a bit sharp but that quickly goes away and you are left with a firm, safe grip that makes you just want to rip it. The spin is fantastic on my bar. Giving a 25 lb plate a spin causes it to rotate for so long that I get bored (more than a minute). When I was doing some cleans my turnover felt buttery smooth and fast. Overall, this is the bar I've been waiting for and at a price that I can afford. It inspires me to go out get after it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Legit Bar! Purchased this bar at the 2014 Crossfit Games. It was slightly used for the weekend but it's still very new. Got an awesome price on it for the Polished Chrome version. The quality is superb. I have used many mid to high end bars from bushing to needle bearings. I've also had a chance to have a full lifting sessions with Rogue's other finish of this bar, the Bright Zinc version. Keep in mind that I was VERY hesistant on deciding on a bearing bar and after months of researching and testing other bars, I'm glad I picked the Polished Chrome version of this bar. Here's my take on it along with the responses from the people I lifted with- Rogue WL Bar (Bright Zinc Finish) - Pros- Great Whip, very quiet, good overall & quality feel, great price Cons- Knurling is a bit aggressive and I had to chalk up often. You can see from the other reviews, that some people also mention how the knurling can be a bit aggressive. The knurl can feel aggressive because of the finish but that's just my opinion. Rogue WL Bar (Polished Chrome Finish) - Pros- Great Whip, very quiet, Excellent feel on the knurling and overall bar quality. Cons- Price can seem to be expensive for those that are budgeting. While this version of the bar may seem highly priced, I'm telling you that I'm 100% happy with my purchase. Not counting the fact that I got this bar for an outstanding price, it is still worth the price it is set at. If you have the cash to get this version of the bar, you will not regret it. After testing 2 versions of this bar, the Polished Chrome version is absolutely forgiving on your hands. I used less chalk with this version than with the Bright Zinc Finish. Other bars I've tested- Pendlay 20kg Bearing and Bushing bars. Both versions have the same feel on knurling and can feel a bit aggressive but that could be because it's Bright Zinc finish. (Rogue's Bright Zinc version feels the same) You can get them on sale for a bit cheaper at times on certain holidays. Eleiko - While this is the holy grail of WL bars, it is not meant for the garage lifter or budget minded. It is perfect in a sense of feel but everyone knows that but pricing is high because you're paying for quality. American Barbell- Affordable if you can find some (Possibly Waxmans Gym) Great feel but honestly, when I look at it, it looks like a very standard barbell. This is just my preference but don't judge the quality of Rogue's WL bars based off other comments stating the knurling is aggressive. It's all personal preference. Both Rogue bars are very well made and have great responses. I was one of those doubters that waited patiently to get my hands on many bars and put each through a 2-3 hour strength session before I decided to give it a review. I did not just walk up to a display and touch it and gave it my opinion. I hope this helps other people with the same issue in deciding a bar. I was fortunate enough to test them out before purchasing. Overall the pricing Rogue has decided on the Polished Chrome version is very fair for the quality and feel of the bar. Based off pricing, feel and look of the bar, I'd have to say that it's comparable to be a very high end bar when compared to others in it's class and isn't far apart from the Eleiko bar in terms of feel. It is set to be affordable for a very high quality piece. This version also is more resistant to rust and that's a plus for some people. My hands aren't messed up after last night's session and I'm looking forward to many more training days with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth bar, perfect for Weightlifting Had this bar for about a week and can tell a big difference between The Rogue Bar, The Rogue Ohio Bar and this one. I love it. It's really smooth. The whip is awesome. It's really quiet. It might take some getting used to but it is well worth the money (I got Bright Zinc) and time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good spin, whip and tolerance... a bit too aggressive on the knurl Tried a buddy's zinc bar this week. Very nice and more spin than my GP SS oly (bushing). No slop and great finished caps. Rogue did a great job on the zinc. The knurling is more aggressive than I like, but that's personal taste. The knurling is well-cut. A bit less whip than my GP SS (180K vs. 190K for the Rogue). I prefer my SS bar with bushings, but this is a great value for a bearing bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bar at a great price. We have had the Rogue bar for a week and multiple athletes have used it with positive reviews from everyone. I worked up to a heavy snatch with it and the whip is excellent, the Rogue Olympic WL bar felt as good as our more expensive bars. The bar spins free and there is no slop meaning the tolerances are tight! The knurl is a bit more aggressive than the standard "Rogue Bar" for comparison but it I don't see it ripping the hands of experienced lifters. Overall the quality of the Rogue Olympic WL bar is unbeatable for the price, I plan on buying a few more as our weightlifting club grows.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional barbell Just received the bright zinc version and I couldn't be happier. This is my first barbell, strictly dedicated to weightlifting. The fit and finish of this barbell is amazing and has exceeded my expectations. The knurling is just right and not overly aggressive. Rogue has produced another solid product with outstanding craftsmanship at an extremely reasonable price point. To top it off, it's made in the good ol' USA!! Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great, feels great, lifts great! Just received the zinc plated version. Appearance wise the bar is beautiful - a work of art. The knurl is excellent making for a very secure grip without being overly abrasive. I've been competing in Olympic lifting and Powerlifting for over 50 years and I rate the feeling of the knurl as good or better as any I've ever had my hands on. Given my age, I can't really put the bar through its paces with heavy weights to really check the whip but the spin is really smooth. I'm very pleased with my purchase and how quickly Rogue processed my order and had the bar delivered to me.
