Our latest barbell is a 28MM Olympic Weightlifting bar with bearings. We set out to create a bar that anyone would be proud to use and you wouldn't be settling for anything. Simply put we are working on making the best bar in the world.
There is a great deal of hype and myth around the best bars in the world, we have simply found it unimaginable that we could not produce a great bar in the United States. So we began researching and understanding just what is true and what is not. In a way it is like deciding to enter a car into a Formula 1 race, there are things you need to learn real fast or you are going to get smoked.
We learned that in order to make a really great OLY bar we needed to do the following:
We needed the best steel made in the U.S. During this process we chose to change all of our base steel to a higher minimum tensile strength of 190,000 PSI.
The goal was to create just the right amount of “whip” or “flex” that is needed for Olympic lifting.
We will also be introducing a 200,000 PSI version just because we want to allow the lifter to choose.
Each bar is tested for straightness and straightened to within 0.015" (0.38mm)
This is where the knack comes into play. We studied every facet of every knurl made to understand where we needed to land. Our end goal was a very full, not sharp and uniform pattern.
Some bars use a more passive knurl, with our machinery we can produce the full range from passive to aggressive. Our goal is allow the lifter to decide what they want, we will offer a more passive version and a full feeling knurl. We have said this before that creating the perfect knurl is much like creating a micro brew beer, lots of testing to get the right combination of things.
In order to create this knurl we had a machine custom built for knurling. This has allowed us to generate many different variations of knurl patterns.
Fit & Finish
We will be introducing this bar in Polished Chrome, Satin Chrome and Bright Zinc. Each bar is fitted with a machined stainless steel end cap, built with precision to finish the bar.
