How It’s Built

From the 190,000 PSI steel to the distinctive dual knurl marks and four separate coating options, every detail of the Ohio Bar is held to the absolute highest standard—as you can see in the step-by-step process below.

Watch Video

  • 1New 190,000 PSI Steel

This steel is manufactured in the US and has proven to be one of the best steel variants for a multi-purpose barbell.

Each barbell shaft is ground and polished prior to machining which allows the bar to have a very smooth finish post any black oxide, zinc or chrome finish.

  • 2Machining

Each bar shaft is machined on new Haas machines that are built in the US. A great deal of pride is built into each bar as the knurling process is an art. We spent months working on the knurl we believe to be the best for the Ohio Bar.

To test the knurl it is more a beer tasting process than exact measurement. There is a look and feel that go into testing every bar.

  • 3Fit and Finish

The Ohio Bar is available with 3 different finishes. Each finish offers a different level of oxidization protection and has a direct effect on the feel of the knurl.

Black Oxide is a mild oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment will still require some maintenance but will give the best knurl feel, more like a naked bar.

Bright Zinc and Black Zinc is a medium oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment requires minimal maintenance and is used on The Rogue and Bella Bars.

  • 4Assembly

The Ohio Bar is assembled with bronze bushings which act as bearing surfaces between the bar sleeve and bar shaft. This is a very robust way of building a barbell.

Each bar will come with an Ohio Bar card that has the initials of the Rogue team member that built the bar.

  • 5Performance

This bar will have normal “whip” during Olympic weightlifting and enough stiffness to hold for heavy powerlifting. The steel in this bar is proven as an excellent choice for weightlifters.

  • 6Rogue Shipping

Rogue prides itself on fast, professional shipping, often with same-day turnaround times. Your bar will be packaged safely and ship fast. You can follow the progress of your order using the Rogue Shipping Tracker.

Each Rogue Ohio Bar is machined and assembled in Columbus, Ohio, and includes a lifetime guarantee against bending**.

The bushing sleeves on the Ohio Bar promise a reliable spin, and their snap ring design maintains optimal stability throughout any type of weightlifting regimen-- from basic high school or collegiate strength training programs to intense Crossfit workouts.

Ohio Bar Coating Options You can select one of the following available coatings from the sidebar:

  • Standard Black Oxide Treatment
  • Black Zinc Plating with Bright Zinc Sleeves - Same zinc combination as the Rogue Bar
  • Black Zinc Plating with Black Zinc Sleeves – Murdered out

Whichever coating you choose, Rogue has provided some helpful tips for long term Bar Care & Maintenance.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everyone should be required to own this barbell Rogue makes the best and this is no exception. Just received my Ohio bar and have already put it through the paces. Knurling is perfect, whip is perfect, that beautiful sound it makes in the hip pocket is perfect. It looks perfect. I bought the black oxide as my gym is outdoors but I store it inside because c'mon, it's beautiful. I'd give more stars if they were available. More Ohio bars = more strong people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect home gym bar Decided to start a home gym and figured the price equals about 2 months worth of fees at my Crossfit gym. I couldn't be happier. It feels smoother and more solid then the beat-up cheap bars at the gym. Granted, it doesn't get the abuse those bars at the box get but I feel like I've bought something that will pay for itself in no time. You just kinda know when you're working with a piece of high quality gear and this bar is high quality. If you can afford it (even if it's a stretch) buy it; you'll be glad you did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding bar for any use I've been using this bar almost daily for over 12 months, and can say without a doubt that this is an outstanding buy. I own 3 bars, and have used plenty more - this would be my pick every time. If you want a bar specifically for oly lifts, get an oly bar; If you want a bar for any lift, look no further!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One year later... I held off on writing a review as I wanted to be sure it was actually "used" prior to giving it any sort of rating. Now that I've had it a year I figured it has been long enough. Coming out of the tube, I wanted to hang it on the wall as a show piece. The bar is beautiful, well built, and well balanced. Over the past year, this bar has been used for approx. 2-3 workouts a week doing everything from bench, dead lift, and squat to snatches, cleans, and overhead movements. The bar has been dropped from 5-6 feet with 400+ lbs and from 7-8 feet with 200+ lbs countless times. In regards to environment, I have had it in a warehouse with the only tempering being from a heated/cooled slab and my garage which is not tempered in the summer and heated in the winter. With all of that said, I have not had any issues with the bushings, no chipping, no rust, and no wearing of the knurl. I do strip the bar down for cleaning and oiling as required which I would recommend to anyone willing to spend $200+ on a bar. The bar is functioning today that same as the day I took it out of the tube and that is all you can ask for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Barbell for my Garage Gym I am writing this the day after I received the bar. I am impressed with Rogue's customer service and the packaging. My usage model for this bar is mostly powerlifting although I am just learning olympic lifting as well. I have been using it's counterpart, the "rogue bar" at my gym for a while. As far as the finish is concerned, it seems to be more sturdy than the black zinc. I have not witnessed any chipping issues at first impression. As far as knurling goes, it feels really great! I am looking forward to making some progress with my powerlifting and olympic movements at home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible bar. Don't buy anything else I bought this bar over 7 months ago. I use it for everything and it never lets me down. There is some slight discoloration but still looks great. I just figure in working this bar pretty hard and there is going to be some slight discoloration. The knurl is perfect and it had just the right amount of whip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! I have had this bar for a week now and after using it the first time I was so surprised at what a difference it made. I've used generic bars at the gym for so long I didn't know what I was missing out on haha. It's amazing what a difference a quality bar makes. I went with the black/black zinc and love it. A lot of people are saying the black scratches off the sleeves as soon as you put a plate on, but I wouldn't necessarily say that. It does alter a little on the sleeves, but still looks great and definitely doesn't scratch off! So glad I went with the Ohio bar.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bar but.... I love my Ohio bar. The build quality is incredible. I dabble in Olympic lifts but mainly stick to the big three. I am writing this to comment that in retrospect, I should have bought the Ohio Power bar. The amount of whip makes the bar shaky when I bench. Even at only 225lbs and especially when doing reps. If you're sticking to the squat, bench and deadlift get the Ohio Power bar. Otherwise a great piece of equipment. Hope this will help when you're choosing what bar to get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Only Bar I Will Ever Own Our gym recently allowed us to have personal bars stored at the gym. I spent a large amount of time doing research, reading every review, etc., and eventually settled on the Ohio Black Oxide bar. I wanted a more aggressive knurl and since the Black Oxide is a chemical treatment and not a plating, the knurling does not get filled in with anything and therefore is a bit more aggressive. It is not aggressive like a power bar, but there is a sticky feeling to the knurling that I love. I have read that you will need to take more care of the Oxide and oil it to keep from any rust, etc., but it is worth it. Chalk will never touch this bar. Not just because it is beautiful, but because there is no need. The natural stickiness of the knurl is plenty for me. Important to note that I heavily considered the Chan bar due to him talking about it having a more aggressive knurling. I decided against it due to the plating which would leave it a tiny bit less aggressive than the Black Oxide Ohio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I wanted! I have had this bar for over a year now, and it has been well "loved" I am so happy that I opted for the Ohio Bar. The knurling is just right, and the bar still has just as much spin as the day I got it. (I have made sure to clean it weekly, and it looks like new

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ohio Bar I have had my bar over a year and it is awesome it has good spin speed and it supports 400+ pounds pretty well I will be getting me a westside barbell sometime soon though. the only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because within a month of having it in my home gym rust started getting on it..... Also one question. how much weight is this bar rated to hold? or where can i find this?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would love to see it in Stainless. I have had my Ohio bar for about 9 months and I very much like it. I got mine when it was available in a Chrome finish and (just my personal preference) I wouldn't have bought it had not the Chrome option been available. I have since bought two additional different barbells in Stainless Steel from another manufacturer and now - at least temporarily - use my Ohio Bar for deadlifts only. I don't consider my Ohio bar to be deficient in any way, but I love my Stainless bars more. I would consider buying an additional Ohio bar should it ever be offered in Stainless Steel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome bar! I got the zinc coated version of this bar about two years ago and love it! I got the zinc version since i have a garage gym and live in Ohio where temperature and humidity vary widely and it has held up great. The bar works great for olympic lifts and deadlifts and good enough for back squats and bench. Great bar, stop thinking and get it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! I just got a new Ohio bar with my R4 infinity rack, and have been using it for a couple weeks. Works and looks amazing! The knurl is why I bought this bar, and I'm not disappointed! I also like the all black look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bushing bar on the market! Love this bar lol. I have had it just shy of a year now and i can firmly say it is the best bar for a home gym under $300. The lynx bearing bar is nice as well but the fact that this is a bushing bar makes it that much more durable. Only thing is mine started to show a dark shade of green but that is to be expected due to black zinc. I own the all black zinc and it just looks BA after all of the use its been through. Don't hesitate and just buy the darn time thing lol!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rogue = Awesome I purchased my beloved Ohio Bar approximately 6-8 months ago, and everything was peachy keen until I started noticing an odd green tint occur to the middle and end of one side of my bar. Seemed strange as I keep the bar in an ideal environment, free from excessive moisture or anything else which may have caused the discoloration. Long story short the bar itself is AMAZING (buy one, don't think about it, just buy it you wont regret it) just like everything else from these guys. This post is in response to their amazing Customer Service. Contacted Rogue who asked for photos of the bar, had responses promptly every time, and a solution was immediate (Kyle K. with their CS team is great). They are replacing my bar due to a plating process that caused the issue and are shipping me out a brand new one. I never expect material goods to be perfect every time, but I do expect Customer Service to aim to be perfect every time. Rogue's success is never owned, it's rented...and these guys pay the rent every day. Thanks Rogue!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful bar, but is it..... This is a beautiful bar and I keep it in my garage gym. My question is: I have had this bar for about 6 months and only use it when I'm doing cleans, thrusters, etc. and I have never dropped it (I use my cheaper bar for that). There are minimal scratches, so why is it rusting? I will do whatever it takes, but this bar looks like I have had it for 10 years and abused the heck out of it. Pretty disappointing. $300 I guess is not a lot when it comes to bars, I just expected more from it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This bar takes a beating and still feels new! I bought my first ever barbell from Rogue, maybe 2 years ago. I was impressed by how the Ohio bar felt between my hands (Black Oxide) and the whip when performing a clean or any other OLY lift. Once I kept lifting with the Bar I showed it to one of the owners at my box and instantly it was a favorite. Now the only bar you can find in Crossfit Destruction is a Ohio Bar! Great Bar! takes a beating and still feels and looks new!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great bar, just dissatisfied I bought from used crossfit games clearance. The bar is built great, spins and whips nice. But I can't clean with it as where I usually put my hands is smooth. Why they made the smooth area 4" wider than most bars is beyond me. I have a rogue needle bearing weightlifting bar and it is not like that. If it wasn't such a hassle I would return it and pay the difference for an Ohio power bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good bar I have had this bar for a few months now and really love using it. The only thing i would knock it on is the finish on the bar wares off pretty quickly. I don't really mind it because its shows that its been used. the bar has very good grip, most of the time chalks not needed to maintain a good purchase on the bar. MOST IMPORTANTLY ROUGE HAS BEEN PHENOMENAL IN CUSTOMER SERVICE! Simply a top notch company that seems to take pride in what they build and how they treat people. Glad to see them striving to make a lot of what they sell right here in the USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bar I lifted in highschool and college for football using old and aging equipment. You get used to the rings coming loose, or the bolts holding the sleeves coming out. You get used to having bent bars due to them not flexing back into position after heavy squatting. This bar just blows the memories of those bars away. It feels solid and the sleeves roll just the right way. The bar flex just feels right when you are 100% push from bottom to top on a squat. It may be over kill for a garage gym, but I believe this is a lifetime purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar, Great Price This bar is one of my favorite for all around lifting. If you are doing anything 550+ I might get an Ohio power, but this has performed fine in squats up to that point, but it is kinda whippy. In terms of Olympic lifts, this might be the best bushing bar available. I have been lucky enough to use a few Eleiko bars, and this is one notch below them, at 1/4 the cost. Knurl:The knurl is perfect on this bar. I was lucky enough to snag one with a bare steel shaft on the closeout page, so mine is a little bit sharper than the zinc or chrome ones. If your doing high rep, low weight crossfit style workouts, as long as you don't grip the bar super hard, it works great. With a little chalk, I had no problem with slipping on a 5 plate deadlift. The harder you grip, the harder it bites back. Whip: The whip is great on this bar, I can feel it in a jerk at about 255, and it starts to become visible at about 315. Like I said earlier, if your squatting 550+ regularly, get an Ohio Power Bar. Finish: I got my bar with a bare steel shaft, and I've loved it so far. I oil it about every 2 or 3 weeks (I live in NC, where the humidity is above 75% almost every day in the summer and I lift outside) and it hasn't changed yet. However, the sleeves on my bar are black zinc. I knew eventually the black would rub off, but not after the first lifting session. But it functions perfectly, not a big deal. Aside from that, I like the machined grooves in the sleeve, they make it possible to lift without collars if you have comp. or training plates that fit snug, and probably the HG's or any others. I also found this bar is very quiet when dropped, only the plates make noise. I would definitely buy one of these again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Price of performance is off the hook! Beautiful bar and great quality. I got the Alpha bar and weight package and I am extremely happy with it. I'm impressed with the quality and feel of the bar, 28mm is perfect. I also got the 10Kg Jr bar for my fiance. Both excellent quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite by far I own the Bella Bar, and wish there was a women's Ohio Bar! I would buy it in a heartbeat. I learned to lift with a Rogue men's bar, and when our gym got a few Ohio Bars in, I was thrilled! It can really smooth out a lift, any lift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bar on the Market! This is the best bar I have ever used, I now have both the C70 and Ohio Bar. There is no Cons to list, excellent quality, excellent feel. However I wish Rogue would consider making an Ohio Bar for the Sumo deadlifters in the audience. I could really use a bar with some closer grips so that I can keep all 5 fingers on the knurling while performing Sumo DLs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar... I scale myself to be somewhere in the middle between being an amateur and intermediate crossfit person. I'm in my 40's and never really had any "good" equipment until I started purchasing from Rogue last year with the HiTemps and SML-2. I've been using the "big-box store" bar for quite some time now for my Oly and Power Lifting; my bar was on its last leg so I needed a new one. Long story short, I love the way this bar feels compared to the "big-box bar". The knurling doesn't tear my hands but what I am most surprised with is the difference the 28.5mm diameter compared to the big-box bar...the comfort level is much higher. You will not go wrong if you buy this bar...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amzing bar Bought the Ohio bar about two months ago and I love this bar. The bar has crazy grip and handles everything I throw at it. I bought the black on black bar witch looks super sexy unit you start useing it. The black is gone were I set up for my cleans and snatches. It does bug me that the bar is already showing wear but the bar is still amzing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Bar Bought this bar a couple weeks ago and couldn't wait to get started with it. Never had a good barbell always used the cheap ones from the local sports store. This bar has been great. Good grip. Great rotation. Only downside kind of, is it scratches very easily. All that means to me is it shows the work you put in. Not a big deal to me. If you want your bar to stay clean get the silver sleeves, as mine are black and streaked up from the weeks of work it has. Great bar just not super sexy cosmetically if that's what you wanted with the murder black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Bar So a year ago I ordered one of the 230LB bumper sets from Rogue and planned to use them on a generic bar I already had. Unfortunately when they arrived one of the 10LB plates did not fit on my bar. I emailed Rogue and they basically told me that they only guaranteed their plates to fit on their bars. Needless to say I was kind of disappointed. However... Now that I have a Rogue Bar I understand the difference. While the generic bar was fine for many uses there is something to be said of the quality of the Ohio Bar. Additionally the bumper plates, that I know and love now after a year of use, slide onto the bar like nothing else. Rogue definitely took the time to make a serious quality bar. You won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar I've had this bar for a month or so, and so far I am impressed. I bought the black oxide because it is supposed to have a better feel than the zinc version, and I couldn't be happier. The knurl is fine and not super sharp, but grips your hand very well. The bar spins very good, so I'm happy about that. It has a bit less whip than my Texas power bar (same diameter, but the plates sit closer in), so don't expect a super whippy bar. So far I have not had any issues with rust, and have not had to re-oil it yet. My only complaint is the knurl marks are not exactly where they are supposed to be, enough that I have to adjust my grip accordingly. -Distance between powerlifting marks: About 32.5" on center -Distance between weightlifting marks: About 36.5" on center

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Ohio Bar (Bright Zinc on Black Zinc) I have used this bar for a few months now, along with the Hi-Temp bumpers, and it is holding up very well. It is my only bar and I have used it for deadlifts, squats, bench press and bent-over row. I perform my back squats well even though it does not include the center knurling. The knurling is fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar I bought the Ohio Bar a few weeks ago. I upgraded from my Cap bar. The Ohio Bar has great craftsmanship. I wish I would have bought this bar when I first started lifting. I didn't realize the big difference a high quality bar makes. Using the Ohio Bar makes my workouts more enjoyable. The bar makes power cleaning lot smoother. Don't wait spend the extra money and buy the bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Multi Purpose Bar As others have said this bar is awesome. It is what I would call a fantastic multi purpose bar. Maybe not ideal for any one thing but if you are only getting one bar and want something that will work for 99.9% of the lifters this would be a great choice. Just to add a comment I haven't seen would be to not fall in love with that beautiful, murdered out, black zinc coating. I've only had the bar for about 4 months and the coating on the sleeves is already showing major signs of wear as well as on the knurling where it goes into the rack. Bright zinc on the sleeves probably wouldn't show wear as bad. Anyway, I was only slightly disappointed about the plating as it in no way effects performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! So I'm new to olympic lifting and crossfit. Not knowing if I was going to really get into it, I started with a barbell I bought off amazon. It was listed as an olympic bar but the only thing olympic about it was the size. During the Black Friday deals, my (awesome) wife picked me up the Ohio bar I've been eyeing. After my first workout, wow can you tell a difference! The bar spins very well even though its still using bushings over bearings. The knurl is awesome. Great grip but be prepared to "earn" those calluses on your hands. Just a bit rough the first few workouts but you'll appreciate it later. Great quality, cool looks, and solid performance, this is a bar you'll have for a long time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Bar This is by far the best bar I have ever used or owned. The knurling feels perfect, the sleeves rotate smoothly, and the bar just feels good in general. I also like the fact that there is no center knurl, which helps save your neck when doing cleans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Buy It! I was the ideal "first time" customer, with no knowledge or experience when it came to putchasing/choosing a bar. If you're like me, I HIGHLY recommend the Ohio Bar. The grip feels completely natural, it's the perfect width and it is perfectly coarse. It feels completely smooth during olympic lifts and makes that satisfying sound when you know you've whipped the bar just right. I ordered the bar midday and received it in less than 24 hours, furthermore it was packaged with extreme care (Long tube, styrofoam spacers, metal end caps, secured with metal staples). If you're unsure/hesitant look no further. Just add it to your cart and thank me later!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost a year old and still going strong I've owned the Ohio bar 1.2 bright/black zinc for about a year now. The first bar had some issues with the zinc coating; Rogue had a new bar in my hands within a week and had UPS pick up the problem bar (It should be noted that the problem bar was still a charm even with the coating/knurling issues). Ever since then, the bar has been through everything, including hi rep CrossFit wods, max deadlift attempts, squats, Oly lifting, and a ground to overhead at 300lbs without any problems. My box [CrossFit 920] has the first generation Ohio bars, and even with the high volume of work on them, they are still going strong, even though they are well worn. It should be noted that the bar will get scratched up if racked, but that's just normal wear and tear. If you don't like seeing that get the hard chrome version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black Oxide vs. Black Zinc I bought my black oxide Ohio bar a few months ago but I wanted to wait until I had put some miles on it before posting a review. Both of my local Crossfit boxes use black zinc barbells (Ohio and Rogue bars) and I have always liked the look and feel of these bars. After a great deal of research and a few discussions with the Rogue team, I decided to go with the black oxide finish. While the honeymoon phase has come and gone, I am still in love with this barbell! First and foremost, I love the feel of the bar. The knurling is flawless - its tacky but not so aggressive that it rips up your hands during high volume WODs. The black oxide finish definitely enhances the feel of the knurl when compared to the black zinc finish on the barbells at my local boxes. I read a lot about this and wasn't really convinced that it would be that noticeable, but you can really feel the difference. The black oxide version sticks to your hands like velcro. I had some initial reservations about possible issues with corrosion, but I have seen no evidence of any corrosion thus far. I occasionally knock the chalk out of the knurling with a plastic bristle brush (once a month maybe) but I have never gone as far as to rub in 3-in-one oil. As per a personal correspondence with a Rogue team member, I plan to do this only once a year (I keep this barbell in the basement of my house so the climate is regulated reasonably well). If you keep the bar free of chalk residue, corrosion is unlikely to be an issue for a barbell stored in a climate-controlled environment. On the negative side, I have noticed that the machine grooved sleeves get really scratched up when pulling plates on and off (even bumpers). This happens with the black zinc finish too. The only way to obviate this issue is to go with the bright zinc collars; they are holding up well in my local box despite constant abuse. Personally, I think the minor cosmetic issues with the collars are negligible when weighed against the dramatic improvement in feel that the black oxide finish provides. Bottom line - this is an amazing barbell that will be the centerpiece of any home gym for years to come.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Bar It is a good bar and I would recommend it to anyone. I would definitely get the chrome ends next time. I got the black on black zinc and if the weights tap the ends or any part of the bar it chips the black off and there is a little silver spot. I am not sure if it is chrome or steel under the zinc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Shelf Bar I've had my Ohio bar for close to a year now. It is my preferred bar even over my more expensive York bar. It has great whip and extreme durability. I use it in my garagebox, the driveway and the street. Not much else to say other than I love my Ohio bar like I love my wife and kids!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Customer for life I bought 6 of these for my schools' program in June and we have used the heck out of them. Great grip, whip and spin. We are over pleased with them. We had one last week with some slop called Rogue and two days later new one there no question. could not ask for more. I was so pleased I bought one for my self.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the bar, not the tape cap on the tube Completely love the bar. I'd been eyeing a Rogue bar for a few months and finally decided on the black zinc on black zinc Ohio bar. I needed something better than what is provided by my employer for Oly lifts and this bar exceeds those requirements by leaps and bounds. As others have stated the knurl is perfect, just grippy enough but not too sharp. My only complaint is with the shipping tube. One end of the tube had a secure metal cap to retain the bar but the other end had only shipping tape. This caused one end of the bar to get "chewed up" during shipping. I know it's tool and will receive wear over time but I was a little disappointed seeing cosmetic damage when I unpacked a $280 bar for the first time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar! This thing looks bad awesome and performs bad great. The knurling is perfect for what I use it for (CrossFit and Olympic lifts). The collars spin freely and it doesn't make much noise when loaded with plates and dropped. You definitely get what you pay for and in this case I'm glad I didn't go cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar I am the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at a college in Missouri. I purchased 8 of these bars [zinc-black on black] about a month ago and have been very happy with them so far. They get a TON of use [450 athletes, lifting 3-5 times per week] by some very strong, explosive athletes. Being a former competitive weightlifter, I was slightly hesitant about purchasing something I had not personally used. Rogue provided excellent customer service, and a high quality product. I am very happy with them, and will be purchasing more products from them in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made With Pride This thing is incredible. I was undecided on a multi-purpose barbell for quite some time now between the Rogue Bar 2.0, the Ohio Bar, and the Froning Bushing Bar (which is an Ohio Bar with Froning R* signature end caps) but I could not be happier with any other bar. (I went with the blacked out zinc model.) This wasn't my first purchase from Rogue so I definitely expected it to be nice for being their flagship bar, but when I pulled it out of it's packaging I was completely blown away by the quality. It's hard to paint a picture of how legendary this bar is just by typing this up but I can promise you just from over 6 years of lifting and barbell training that you CANNOT be disappointed if you order an Ohio Bar. It is by far the most well-put-together barbell I have ever used. It will seamlessly serve any lifting purpose, from high-skill olympic lifts to heavy powerlifts. The grip feel is literally flawless. Knurling is exactly how it should be. Not razor sharp but nowhere near passive. The spin is more than I'd expect from a bushing bar. It's just right. Rogue, I won't say you've outdone yourself with your flagship bar, because I knew it was gonna be great, but it has far exceeded my expectations. That "R" is a true American mark of quality and pride. Keep it up and thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Black Oxide (WILL RUST SUPER EASY) I love this bar! BUT....... I would trade it in if i could for one that was more rust resistant... I have this in my house, in the AC and it started to rust after one day of having it... if you don't keep it oiled it will rust... But here is the issue... its now OILED... that makes it slick... I wish i would have read the details about mild rust resistance... it rusts like bare steel. So keep it oiled... Again, I would highly recommend getting one that doesn't rust so easily... That is my only REGRET with any of my rogue Products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 190k ohio bar. Flip flopped on the rogue bar 2.0, and the ohio bar. After some back and forth with the staff, I went with the ohio bar. To be fair, this is the only quality barbell I have ever handled, but I'm very impressed. Collars spin well, though I will at some point end up with a true only bar for those lifts. Snatches yesterday, heavy deads and squats today, performed admirably on all counts. It sounds cliche, but you can just feel the quality when you grab it. Knurling is badass! Chalk it up and it's Velcro but doesn't murder your hands. I chose the black oxide and I am glad I did. MY ONE GRIPE is that the finish seems to be very susceptible to scratching on the collars even after just a couple days. Overall though, 10/10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bar The Ohio Bar is the first barbell I have bought. My first-hand knowledge of barbells only encompasses those used at my local gym (not a CrossFit box). My hands would get torn up with the knurling by those bars. I never realized that knurling could feel so good in the sense that it provides a secure grip, but without tearing up your hands. This bar certainly spins better than what I am used to using, but my frame of reference is limited. I have the bright zinc/blank zinc version, and the bar is a beauty. For an all purpose bar, it has served me well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect grip I have used a lot of bars and I am thoroughly impressed by these bars we have had them at our school for 1 month now and they only get better as the break in. 6 sports programs are using these daily and 140 athletes and they work great. Grip is awesome, the feel makes you want to pull more weight and for people with in experience hand gives you more traction to grab. We ordered the black zinc bars. As others have stated the finish looks frickin great when you open them but does not stay that way when you are using them, but who cares. They are meant to be abused and these bars take it. Thanks for making great product we can use

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bar! Very good bar. The only complaint I have is how easily the zinc comes off of the sleeves of the bar. Does it effect the performance of the bar? Not at all. It is sincerely just a picky item and not a big deal. it is worth mentioning however as this was the reason I got the Ohio Bar rather than the Rogue 2.0 bar. I wanted the all black look. Knowing what I know now, I probably would have gotten he new Rogue bar 2.0 only because if the zinc was going to come off of the bar, I would have gotten sleeves that were not all black... still a FANTASTIC BAR with this being the ONLY MINOR issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bar I bought an Ohio bar about 4 months ago for using in my garage. The bar feels sturdy and holds up to a beating, and as an Ohio kid, born and bred, I like the red Ohio endcap. Really solid craftsmanship. However, I'm not completely sold on the knurl. Don't get me wrong, it's top quality, but it's a little too rough for my taste. In retrospect I may have preferred the Rogue Bar. The knurl can really rips my hands up even when holding chalk.... Maybe i just have sissy hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite bar hands down I've had my bar for a year now and it's been nothing short of near perfection! I bought the black zinc bar, aside from normal wear from near daily use over the last year it's like new. The bar feels great in hand, the knurl has held up much better than any bar I've used prior to -- I expect nothing less from Rogue -- bar flex is minimal. I have only one issue, it took me 20 minutes to get it out of the packaging. hahaha, pleased Rogue ships their products with care :) I live in FL and train in my garage, the bar has upheld its integrity and craftsmanship under the severe changes in humidity and heat we deal with regularly. As a Columbus native I had to get this bar -- the positive reviews helped too -- and I'm more than pleased with my choice!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great bar overall let me start off by saying that this bar is great, the spin is smooth and more consistent than im used to. The knurling is as advertised, full and uniform. there are a few things that kept me from giving this bar 5 stars, none of which are rogue's fault btw. 1. the distance between the collars is about 1 inch shorter than im used to, this wont make a difference for most people, but for taller athletes like myself (6"6) with an 80" wingspan, my snatch grip is alot wider than most people. Although im sure with some emphasis on shoulder mobility i could bring it in a bit with no ill effect. 2. i will admit that it is difficult to purchase a bar online without holding it in your hands first. the knurl is quite soft and not as sharp as i would like, again this is my own fault not rogue's. all of this being said next time i buy a bar which will definitely be ordering my next bar from rogue, if a 28mm bushing bar in bare steel/with zinc sleeves came out i wouldnt hesitate to pick it up right away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indestructible This barbell is off the hook good! I use it in my garage on a daily basis. I use bumpers with it and no matting on the floor. doesn't matter cause this bar can survive through anything. I use it for a wod, oly lifting and powerlifting. Good job ROGUE!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beware the black "paint chips"... So far the bar is great. It feels great, and holds plates. Check. But almost immediately the sleeves have been losing chips of the black zinc coating as I add/remove plates. If I had known this, I would have gone with a bar that has the bright/silver sleeves, assuming those would not have the same chip problem. Is it a huge probem? Of course not--not huge. But sense I have the equipment in my living space (I live in a loft), the cleaner it looks the better. And scratched up sleeves just dont look as good as shiny clean sleeves :-\ The online sales people should mention this to buyers, and it should definitely be mentioned on the bar's info website page. If there was a more expensive bar that didnt have this problem, and I was told of it, I would have paid the extra dough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great knurl, great spin, looks awesome, dont hesitate to buy it Like a lot of people, this was my first real barbell. I was coming from a standard "no name" bar that had a very passive knurl and basically no spin. I bought some bumper plates and after less than a month of dropping them one of the sleeves came off, so i decided to invest in something better. And make no mistake, this was a big investment for me.. I Went with the ohio bar and i'm definitely happy i did. Knurling and spin are amazing compared to my old bar, and the black oxide finish looks sick. This is hands down the nicest bar i've ever used (not that i have a ton of experience with different bars). As long as the sleeves stay on the bar (i'm sure they will) I have no complaints about this bar. Thanks Rogue!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy I am very happy with my new Ohio bar. The bar feels well balanced and does not feel as heavy as my other bar. It's very stylish (if you can say that) for a weightlifting bar. I'm very happy with my purchase and would do it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Bar Never had my own bar before, so I don't have much to compare to. Knurl is pretty mild when compared to the "olympic" bars in my gym with the center knurl, but less tacky than the knurl on what I assume to be the cheaper bars in the gym. The sleeves roll nicely, but don't spin like crazy when you spin them. No complaints so far. Love the black bar/bright zinc sleeve look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!!! This is the 1st bar that I ever bought, I have used many different bars through out the years at gyms but they do not compare to this bar in anyway. The feel & texture of the bar is just great, it just feels natural in the hands, and the Black Oxide coating & knurling is just spot on its grippy but it doesn't feel like its ripping your hands apart. If you buy this bar you will love and you won't feel like its over priced, if anything you might walk away thinking that you stole it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent multipurpose bar! This is probably the best multipurpose I've owned. It's a jack of all trades, not a specialty bar... with that in mind the thing is incredible. Feel great, sticky knurl, good spin, beautiful finish. I got the Black Oxide, as I like the "bare steel" feeling, and it didn't disappoint. The knurl is mild by my standards, but nice and sticky. For heavy powerlifting (over 400 or so) I still use a power bar, but on days when I do mixed exercises, the bar really shines. Order it expecting a multipurpose and it will definitely deliver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect received my black on black zinc bar a month ago and have been impressed since I got it. The knurling is excellent, not too deep that it cuts. The no centre knurling is perfect for deadlift and cleans, yet still great to squat with. This bar sees everything in my garage, Olympic lifting, dealifting, squats, rack pulls, bench pressing etc. Out of everything I've bought for my home gym, i'm glad I spent the money on this bar, worth every penny. I'm glad I didn't cheap out and get a bar that I would have to replace after a year or so because it's bent and the collars are loose!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bar Reviews I currently own a Ohio bar (150k) tensile strength which was standard before they beefed it up to 190k. I also own a pendlay hd bar, and I was given a rogue bar as a present. The Ohio bar is black oxide, and living in New Jersey I put wd-40 at least every other week to keep the rust off the knurling. The spin is a bit better than the rogue bar, but not as good as the Pendlay Bar. As far as whip is concerned, Ohio bar again is better than the rogue, but much less than the Pendlay bar. I happen to love all three bars and would not wish to get rid of either one. The bar that I use most often is actually the rogue bar, it has great strength, good aggressive knurl, and it spins great. It can hold up to heavy deadlifts and can also be used as an Olympic bar. As a crossfitter for just about two years, I highly recommend the Ohio or the Rogue bar. I use both in WOD's all the time, and I have no wear on either bar. If you would like to strictly concentrate of Olympic lifting, than I would recommend the Pendlay HD bar. Since the steel in the Ohio bar has went up to 190K, I would love to feel how that bar performs now that it has the same tensile strength as the Pendlay bar.

Everything from Bodybuilding, to mountain bike racing, to trail running, to MMA, to Jiu-Jitsu, but there is just something I'm really enjoying about the challenges I'm faced with in Olympic lifts and Crossfit workouts. The Ohio bar is a geniune piece of ingenuity. My Olympic lifts immediately felt easier and more fluid, and if a bar could be sexy, this one is! Lol

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality I just finished my first workout with my new black/bright zinc Ohio Bar. I am very impressed with the overall craftsmanship and attention to detail put into this bar. This isn't the first Rogue product I've used, but it is the first one I've owned and it won't be the last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Bar- for price and function I have been in the market for an Olympic bar, and simply put, you can't buy a better bar. You can either buy a bar that over 100 bucks that will break within a few weeks, buy a bar for the amount the rogue and ohio bars cost, or buy another bar thats over 500 dollars that has ALMOST the quality but hasn't the reputation, customer service, or the pride of being american made. I bought the ohio zinc (i live in a humid climate) and it's the centerpiece to my gym. I'll never go anywhere else but rogue. The best quality bar, with a price any cross fitter can afford. It takes every bit of the beating i put it through. If you are doubting just a little bit, don't anymore, buy it now!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satin Hard Chrome = Bliss I purchased the satin chrome finish - it is the best feeling bar I've ever had in my hands. The knurling is perfect for me and the spin is great for a non-bearing bar. It's the satin chrome finish that puts it over the top though, and it creates an overall texture that's really pleasing to touch and to look at it. Granted, it's still a hybrid bar, and it will not replace some of the higher end weightlifting bearing bars costing at least twice as much, but I won't throw a tantrum if the bar is used in a rack either. It's a great compromise at a great price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid bar The bar is very well crafted. The spin is nice and smooth, the knurling is great. I regret getting the zinc coating, however. It is coming right off with routine usage. I have had the bar for two weeks and it looks quite splotchy. To be clear: The bar itself is great. Far superior to any gym beater I've used before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ohio Bar I was pretty skeptical when reading how game changing this bar was, so I was eager to receive it. It was 100% what everyone has to say about it. The best way I can describe it is that it feels very dense. Because of this it seems to have a very controlled balance to it, I never felt I had to concentrate on balancing the weight, I just had to bring it up and down. The knurl was really cool, it was smoother than my previous bar yet it had a lot more natural grip to it, my hands felt great after lifting. Only bad part was that one of the sleeves was scratched up a bit, but I do not really mind because it is bound to happen anyways.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing bar This is the first real 20 KG barbell I've had, and I have to say I'm glad I got this as my first one. Before this bar came I was using a 15 pound technique bar. The sleeves didn't rotate and the diameter was tiny and the knurl was very passive. This is WAY more than a step up. The knurl feels great. The spin on the sleeves is perfect for both types of weight lifting, and the black oxide finish and red end cap makes to be a very sharp looking bar for a garage gym or affiliate. It's worth the extra money trust me. You won't be disappointed. I look forward to purchasing a lot more gear from Rogue and using it for many years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar - Pick the finish that works best for you The bar is awesome, smoothe and best of all the knurl is perfectly grippy without being harsh. I have used both the black oxide and black zinc. They both have a great grip, but I would give a slight (SLIGHT) edge to the black oxide - the teeth feel just a little sharper so it "latches to your hand" slightly better. However, I live in Houston, Tx (humid) and keep the bar in the garage. I let the black oxide bar sit for a week after using it without wiping it down, and it was covered in a thin rust film. Basically, you have to keep it wiped down after use (a quick towel coated with 3-1 oil worked great for me). I think the oxidation rate slowed down after wiping it down for a month or so. Anyway, it developes a patina (a matte slightly oxidized) finish. If you want the absolute best and are good about maintaining your equipment, you might give it the edge. However, my zinc coated bar I just use it and put it up, it's never showed any oxidation, I don't have to wipe it down after using it (or conversely re-chalk after every cleaning). It has a great grip, I dont need or even want it to be any better. For me, hands down zinc coated works better. If I was in a climate controlled or lower humidity environment, or really liked that patina raw steel old school bar feel - and don't mind cleaning/oiling the bar - I might consider the black oxide. If mild pitting/oxidation would bother you, I would definitely go with zinc, you won't be giving up anything you would notice. Hope that helps anyone on the fence.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Worth The Extra $$ I was on the hunt for a new bar for a while, and I was at a toss up between quite a few based on the price (since I will only be using it in my home gym). I was debating between this bar, the beater bar, and a few other bars from other companies. Never having used this before, and loving the black on black oxide look I bought it, and I couldn't be happier. Having worked in multiple gyms, exercise physiology labs, and friends having other rogue bars, I am glad I got this one, it beats them all. The grip is great, the sleeves move so fluid, I instantly noticed my lifts feeling better (paired them with some new bumpers by rogue and it even looks amazing, and makes you want to lift more!) Amazing bar by Rogue, worth the extra $$ if you can swing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it for grip alone I work out at a crossfit gym full of cheap bars, where about half of them are bent, and a good bit of them have shark tooth grip that chews my hands up. This is my first bar, and I can only compare it to the cheap ones my gym has. First off, the grip has to be felt to be believed. I got the Black Oxide finish after much back and forth in my head, but it feels awesome! Your hand just sticks to the bar without being too rough. Anyone who has laid hands on it at the gym love the grip as well. The finish looks great as well. I enjoy having my own bar for consistency, so I know how it's going to feel every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! The feel on the oxide finish is a step up from the Rogue Bar, which I didn't think possible. Great job Rogue, you've done it again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection I was a little unsure on how I would like the oxide finish, but as soon as I picked this bar up I was sold. Operates beautifully, looks aggressive and the feel is 2nd to none.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SOLID! I have had my bar for almost a month now and have loved every minute I've spent with it. Everyone in the box wants to take a spin with it. Cleans and snatches are effortless. I was able to PR my hang snatch by 15 pounds when I switched. It's a must have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easily Scratches Got 9 of these bars. Solid so far but their black finish gets scratched up pretty easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black Beauty I had some shipping problems with another bar I ordered. Pretty much UPS fault. I had to ship the bar back twice because of damage in shipping. Rogue takes customer satisfaction seriously. This bar came out and I had to have it. I love everything about this bar, it is as close to raw steel as you can get so the grip is really firm. The knurl is just aggressive enough. I use a manta ray to squat with, so no center knurl is pretty much what I needed. Like the oxidized finish the best. Bar doesn't flex too much, just enough. Everyone who has seen the bar loves it.
