The Rogue Axle - Powdercoated

The Rogue Axle - Single Powdercoated

Rogue Axle

Deceptively Simple Grip Training

A collaborative effort between the Rogue team and Rob Orlando of Hybrid Athletics, the powder-coated, 1.9” diameter Rogue Axle offers athletes an effective change of pace for any lifting regimen, promoting greater wrist and grip strength. The bar measures 7 feet (2.13 meters) in total length, with 15.5” of loadable sleeve length and 52” between the collars.

From presses to rows to deadlifts, the Axle makes for a more challenging but ultimately more beneficial workout, emphasizing the muscles in the hands in a way standard bars can’t. It’s the same principles that have made fat bars an essential part of the modern Strongman training arsenal. A more compact 5’ version of this bar, the Stubby Axle, is also available.

IMPORTANT: Some standard barbell collars may not work on this specialty bar. We recommend using either the Rogue HG Axle Collars or the OSO Axle Collars.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for those starting out When I was getting back into lifting a few years back, I didn't have a lot of spare cash to blow on gear, but I wanted to be able to lift at home. I decided to get the axle rather than a standard barbell mainly because it was cheaper. Aside from the lower price, I think this is especially well suited for beginners because you will develop your grip strength from the beginning. It also prevents you from jumping up in weight too fast because your grip will be more of a limiting factor. I also did not have money for a rack at that time, but luckily the axle is very comfortable for zercher squats, so those were my main squats for a year. I eventually picked up an Ohio Power Bar (which is really great), but I still frequently use the axle and never regret having it. In terms of improvements, it would be great if Rogue could add some grip marks (even if just painted) like on a standard barbell. I use tape to achieve this, but it comes off over time and it's annoying to have to measure and reapply.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Build The pipe is the same size and texture as the fat pull-up bar. Not sure what else to say about it. It works well and is well build, as I've come to expect from everything I order from Rogue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable and well made Great texture for grip and seems very durable. Wish it had lines to set up evenly on the bar but otherwise it’s perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Axle! I don't know if Rogue has fixed the powder coating issue some people seem to be having, or if I got a good one, but this thing is great! I've used it a bunch, with no chipping in the powder coat. I am not gentle with it either. It's been dropped and racked. No issues. It's a solid piece of equipment. Love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid bar. Versitile and fun to use I bought this bar about a month ago and have been using it consistently for accessory work ever since. The bar is gorgeous. (Like others), I really love the Rogue sticker on the middle of the bar but wish it was better applied. Racking this into the J hooks of my rack has caused some light chipping of the powder coating but the bar still looks good. I use this for overhead presses, incline bench, a variety of rows and deadlift variations. I think for the cost, you can't beat it. Makes a great addition to any garage gym.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sweet gains but... The powder coating on the sleeves began chipping off first day unfortunately so I wont be racking this bar on J hooks and risk losing snatch grip. This is a ground bar only! Also disappointing that the rogue sticker peeled off; I was looking forward to the ROGUE name blessing my gym. Still a great bar with no signs or bending or breaking anytime soon, and I'm excited for awesome grip gains.
