How It’s Built

From the 190,000 PSI steel to the distinctive dual knurl marks and four separate coating options, every detail of the Ohio Bar is held to the absolute highest standard—as you can see in the step-by-step process below.

  • 1New 190,000 PSI Steel

This steel is manufactured in the US and has proven to be one of the best steel variants for a multi-purpose barbell.

Each barbell shaft is ground and polished prior to machining which allows the bar to have a very smooth finish post any black oxide, zinc or chrome finish.

  • 2Machining

Every bar shaft is machined in Columbus, Ohio. A great deal of pride is built into each bar as the knurling process is an art. We spent months working on the knurl we believe to be the best for the Ohio Bar.

To test the knurl it is more a beer tasting process than exact measurement. There is a look and feel that go into testing every bar.

  • 3Fit and Finish

The Ohio Bar is available with 4 different finishes. Each finish offers a different level of oxidization protection and has a direct effect on the feel of the knurl.

Black Oxide is a mild oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment will still require some maintenance but will give the best knurl feel, more like a naked bar.

Zinc is a medium oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment requires minimal maintenance and is used on The Rogue and Bella Bars.

The Ohio Bar is also available in Stainless Steel & an advanced ceramic-based coating called Cerakote.

  • 4Assembly

The Ohio Bar is assembled with bronze bushings which act as bearing surfaces between the bar sleeve and bar shaft. This is a very robust way of building a barbell.

Each bar will come with an Ohio Bar card that has the initials of the Rogue team member that built the bar.

  • 5Performance

This bar will have normal “whip” during Olympic weightlifting and enough stiffness to hold for heavy powerlifting. The steel in this bar is proven as an excellent choice for weightlifters.

  • 6Fast Rogue Shipping

Rogue prides itself on fast, professional shipping. If your bar is ordered by 3PM EST Monday-Friday, it will ship same day. Your bar will be packaged safely and ship fast. You can follow the progress of your order using the Rogue Shipping Tracker.

Each Rogue Ohio Bar is machined and assembled in Columbus, Ohio, and includes a lifetime guarantee against bending*.

Whichever coating you choose, Rogue has provided some helpful tips for long term Bar Care & Maintenance.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

F Scale™
The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

Oxidation Rate
The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional quality and craftsmanship I've been doing CrossFit and Olympic Lifting for 2 years now, and just using the bars at my gym, which has an array of Rogue bars. I figured it was time to invest in my own, and the Ohio Bar, was worth the investment. The grip is impeccable, the thickness of the bar is just right, and the spin is perfect for squat cleans, snatches and a variety of movements. I would highly recommend investing in a barbell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every cent My kid and I bought this bar and had it customized for us. It wasn't cheap, but we could not be more thrilled. Gorgeous, feels great in the hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality bar for my garage gym Great knurling (not too rough, not too light), low maintenance, high quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bar, but don't get cerakote selves. The bar is great, however if I would purchase another or again I would definitely get the chrome selves. The Cerakote wares off very easily on the sleeves from putting on bumper plates. I noticed the wear after 3 uses. When I contacted Rogue they said that wear from metal on metal contact is expected... this was a disappointing reply. I did not expect this at all seeing as cerakote is toughed for its durability. Now, my bar that is supposed to be maintenance free will require normal steel bar maintenance (which defeats the purpose of choosing this specific bar). Rogue was unwilling to offer any type of compromise or send me replacement chrome sleeves even inside of the return window. Im giving 4 stars because otherwise the bar is as advertised.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bar. Good bar. Shipping took a little longer than I’d thought. One of the sleeves doesn’t turn as smoothly as I’d like and makes some noise, can feel a bit of roughness. Hoping it’ll just break in

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome, great medium knurl, look, fit & finish Awesome, great medium knurl, look, fit & finish and overall feel. Sleeves DO have a very slight rib to them, in case you're into that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bar I purchased the Ohio Bar a while back when initially re-outfitting my garage gym. I also went with stainless as I'm the only person using it and didn't want to necessarily have to stay completely on top of bar maintenance, etc. So far its been great. The knurl is really nice and with the stainless (close to bare steel) finish it just feels great in your hand. The spin on the collars is somewhere between okay and good. I'm doing limited movements that benefit from that so its sufficient for my needs. If you're doing a lot of olympic movements, etc maybe try to check one out before to get an idea and make sure its up to what you're looking for. When I got this bar I didn't really think the lack of center knurl was going an issue, but after a few months of linear progression and getting my squat weights up I found things a bit unstable on my back so I recently "upgraded" to the Ohio Power Bar which has now become my go-to bar. I still like this bar though and continue to use it for cleans and presses and could see swapping it in on occasion for other lifts. Had I planned things a little bit better I might have considered a Chan Bar (so if you're not familiar check it out), but think pressing might be a challenge with that due to the wider area before knurling starts. But no regrets, and personally I like stainless if you can swing it (and maybe if its not for commercial use given the f-scale stuff - but for you and/or a few friends at your home gym, should be great, especially if you take care of it)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to my garage gym I've been wanting a ROGUE barbell since I got into lifting a few years back. Loved the American made quality, and then I saw one with an American flag on it. I had to have it. After 2 years of dedicated gym time, my wife begrudgingly let me order it. I'm so glad I did. Everything about it is great. Eventually I want all ROGUE gear, will take me a while to convince the missus!
