Key Features of REGUPOL Aktiv Flooring Rolls

Tried & True Performance

One of REGUPOL’s most popular products, Aktiv Flooring is produced here in 48” wide rolls that are budget-friendly and easy to install, but also extremely durable and reliable. Made from quality recycled rubber, this multi-purpose gym flooring is slip resistant (Pass according to ASTM F2772), impact resistant (14N/m according to EN1517), and optimized for reducing the sound and force of a falling object (12.9%-13.7% force reduction according to ASTM F2772).

5 Thickness Options

Gym owners can select the thickness of their Aktiv flooring, with five measurements available: 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”, 1/2” or 3/4”. Choosing the right thickness will depend on the type of training facility and the equipment used therein. The more heavyweight, high impact training in your gym, the thicker you may want your flooring to be.

Custom Color Selections

There are a variety of colorways available for each size of Aktiv gym flooring, including different options in fleck coloration and the percentage of color included. The attractive color options and seamless appearance of the flooring rolls makes it easy to match them to the existing aesthetic of your training space.

Made to Last

REGUPOL Aktiv Flooring is backed by a 5 Year Warranty. The REGUPOL company itself is a family run business with over 60 years of history. It is one of the world’s largest recyclers of elastic raw materials, including rubber, EVA and PU-foam.

The perfect start to a new home gym adventure!
After countless hours of reviewing different brands and styles of flooring for my new home gym project I was paralyzed by choices and tempted to just stick with the concrete floor...I am glad I did not and decided to pull the trigger on this Regupol Aktiv Flooring. Delivery was faster than estimated and even though I did not need to be home for it, I just happened to catch the delivery truck as it arrived for the curbside delivery and the driver offered to pull the 2 pallets into the garage for me. This was a pleasant surprise and made life a little easier; however, I could have just as easily unwrapped the pallets and rolled the rubber mats into my garage from the driveway. I ordered 6 rolls of the 4'x25' 3/4 inch thick rubber rolls and they were very heavy but easy to move around with a little planning and overall not difficult to unroll and install. I completed half the job solo just taking my time, and finished the project with a second person which made life much easier. I did choose to install a dricore subfloor under the rubber mats. Whether that was necessary or not, I like the peace of mind having some mold/mildew protection and more importantly I love the feel that the extra inch of the subfloor gives under the 3/4" rubber mats. The floor is SOLID, smooth, and level. I doubt I will have any issues with any type of exercise impact on this floor. With the weight of the 3/4" thick Regupol mats, especially with heavy gym equipment on the way to sit on it, I opted to use no adhesive or tape for now. I installed the subfloor and the rubber mats on top, being as careful as possible to leave 1/4" gap all the way around the room for possible expansion. With just the rubber mats over the floating subfloor I've experienced no movement or gaps yet, but if I do I will use the Regupol double sided tape to secure the mats to the subfloor in the future. There were a few areas where I could see a seam from 2 mats joining each other, but over a few days as things settled they have all pretty much disappeared completely. Even in a spot where I made a mistake (measure TWICE, cut ONCE) I can barely see the seam when I am actively looking for it. Overall I am extremely impressed with how great this floor looks despite being self installed by a complete amateur. There is a faint rubber smell to the mats when initially rolled out. I found it dissipated almost completely after a few days, and is barely noticeable now a week later, and that is without airing out the garage. I have no doubt there will be very little or no smell at all to this rubber flooring, which is impressive. I went with 10% Gray Hound color and I am blown away by how much I love the look. Dirt, dust, and footprints are completely hidden and the floor has a professional, clean look to it. 10% is perfect imo. The 25' long sides of the mats are cut perfect, hiding seams perfectly. The 4' ends are not cut perfectly straight, but it's not the end of the world. Get a triangle, use fresh razors often, and cut carefully to square them up where needed. Fresh sharp razor blades cut very well through this rubber, even at 3/4" thick, but it did take some getting used to and a few trial cuts with my straight edge on some extra rubber to perfect getting a straight line.

Great gym flooring with some caveats
Very quality gym flooring. One 25’ roll of the 3/4” is 425lbs which makes it very tough to use for residential use. They say 4 feet wide, but there is an extra 1/4” of width to the rolls along with each roll I got being a couple inches short of the full 25’. Also, the end cut to the roll was not a straight line at all making it very tough to recut a perfectly straight line to butt up to another piece of the flooring.

1-Year Review: Regupol Gym Flooring Install Tips”
Waited over 1yr before providing a true review. I ordered Regupol 8x rolls 3/8" Flooring - Black - 4x25' Roll with Regupol 5 Gallon Adhesive professionally installed. I will say, halfway through the project I had to order another Regupol 5 Gallon Adhesive, for 10 Gallon total coverage. I see earlier reviews mentioning bubbling, but they don't mention the floor material thickness or quantity adhesive they installed, so I trust my install gives some additional information and decision making and material orders. In short, double the Adhesive. My requirements was to outfit a basement concrete surface of ~800sqft gym and den. I did this with 8 rolls and the installer was able to get creative, but mentioned a 9th role would have been ideal. The cuts on these rolls are not perfect and with a 25' section, they have had to fight to align the seems. As far are as flooring thickness, 3/8" is excellent for bumper plates and have seen no evident wear. If you are using iron/steel plates, I'd recommend 1/2" or even 3/4" for aggressive lifts. Overall, it doesn’t appear to have any splits or bubbling it’s just a rugged floor. I’m personally not a fan of the speckled color finish since it tends to hide dust, chalk, and dirt. However, if that’s your preference, that’s fine. Otherwise, I’d recommend going with solid Jet Black it looks cleaner and is generally better for home resale than a heavily speckled color mix.

Off-gassing is a major issue with this flooring
Bought this in December and installed it. It absolutely has a horrid rubber smell that has not gone away after 3+ months. It has gotten to the point where it has caused respiratory problems for my family. Would not recommend purchasing if sensitive to the extreme off-gassing that occurs.

Great flooring, as expected, solid quality
Great flooring, tough, some smell but not too bad. I bought the 1/2" and the biggest issue was I wasn't home when they delivered it and left it at the street so my wife had to roll it up the driveway. I cut two 10'x4' swatches and I cut the remaining 5'x4' in half. Space covers 10'x10' and it's perfect for a half rack with the manta ray bench.

Good mats, but had a defect
I did a lot of research on the types of mats to put down in my home gym (work in progress, haha). I can honestly say that the rolls, though heavy, are the best way to go. A single 25-ft. roll was able to adequately cover my workout space once cut in half, covering an 8×12.5 space. It's laying on top of an LVP floor, and is not adhered in any way. The long sections and the equipment on top have bren adequate to keep the flooring from moving too much. Be aware, the end cuts are probably not straight/square, and you'll likely lose about 1-inch of length to trim the ends straight. Unfortunately, my roll seems to have a manufacturing defect, where a sharp/jagged rock was embedded into the roll during production, and the sharp edges stick out above the rest of the flooring. It's annoying when doing push-ups or other ground work as it digs into my skin and clothes. I have to be careful to avoid that part of the mat when working out. The alternative would be to flip the strip of flooring upside down, but then it would be scraping against the house flooring underneath, and I don't want to damage the LVP underneath. The whole reason I bought rubber flooring in the first place was to protect the floors in my house. Other than the defect and the crooked end cuts, this is a good product. Just be sure to check both sides of your roll, in case you wind up with a defect like mine.

Regupol Aktiv Flooring for my basement gym upgrade
Really like the quality of material. Only thing I'm not excited about, and the reason for the 4 star vs 5 star, is the rolls don't appear to be cut straight (some minor gaps in some places where the mats meet together). Overall, I recommend this product.

1/2” is Very grippy, easy to cut.
Bought it, came within a week. Got a great workout end over ending the 275lb rubber rolls to my basement walkout! Installl was smooth, wish I had a 2nd person to help. Only con is that the black tracks every piece of dust from your feet so plan to have some gym shoes that live there. Easy to clean though. check it out!
