Mitchell Hooper

Still only a few years removed from his debut in the sport, Canadian powerhouse Mitchell Hooper has rapidly become one of the most dominant and consistent athletes in Strongman history. Now a two-time World’s Strongest Man (2023, 2024), back-to-back Arnold Strongman Classic champion (2023, 2024), and two-time Rogue Invitational winner (2023, 2024), “The Moose” has built a résumé that rivals legends—all before the age of 30.

Hooper first made waves in 2022, reaching the final of World’s Strongest Man as a rookie and finishing 8th overall. That same year at the Rogue Invitational in Austin, he stormed into the podium with a 3rd-place finish, winning two events (Sandbag Carry and Yoke Carry / Log Lift Medley), and setting a world record in the Dinnie Stone Hold during the Rogue Record Breakers showcase. He also won the UK Arnold and logged multiple podium finishes on the international stage, elevating him quickly from dark horse to the sport’s rising star.

His breakout year came in 2023, when he captured the Arnold Strongman Classic title in Columbus with a uniquely consistent performance—placing in the top three of every event without winning a single one, yet still finishing ahead of Mateusz Kieliszkowski. One month later, he claimed his first World’s Strongest Man title in Myrtle Beach, dominating the final by finishing 1st or 2nd in five of the six events, outpacing 2x champ Tom Stoltman. In October, Hooper closed the season with a hard-fought win at the Rogue Invitational, edging out Stoltman once again by a score of 42–40 in a weather-challenged field.

Rather than slow down, Hooper doubled down in 2024, successfully defending all three of his major titles—WSM, Arnold, and Rogue—cementing himself as the undisputed top athlete in the sport. Few in Strongman history have matched that level of dominance across three of the world’s most prestigious competitions in back-to-back seasons.
