Imagine the greatest single tool in the world that you can think of to address your crazy stiff T-spine, perform fine detailed trigger point work, and crazy smash your matted down, warrior princess—beef jerkified self. Got that? Now imagine it as a little more awesome. Meet the Gemini.
We agree that two lax balls taped together gets you into the party. But once you are in the door you need to go ask that crazy hot girl or guy to dance AND you need access to the VIP lounge. The problem with the lacrosse ball is that it was invented for lacrosse, not for your body.
The Gemini was born out of the need for better tools. We spent nearly a year getting the Gemini right for the human spine (we won’t bore you with the technical anatomy). We looked at the best tools in the world, integrated them and made them more effective and more safe. We looked around and no one had yet created what we needed. It’s a game changer.
For external mobilization use only. Latex Free.
Very good - but is it substantially better than LAX balls?Review by Alex
Comparison to LAX balls:
- Noticeably harder: LAX balls have very little give, but if I jam a finger into them, they give about 1/2 mm. This has no give-- which is a plus.
- Measuring between the ridges, the LAX balls have a gap between contact points of approximately 70 mm. This has a gap of 40 mm. Also the contact is flat instead of rounded. So you get consistent contact from 40 mm to ~ 85 mm.
(+) One thing I REALLY like is to use the ends of this thing to work into trigger points, such as my pec-minors, etc. Much better here than a single LAX ball.
(+) The hardness difference makes a difference
(+) more versatile (as above) with a lot of things including on quads / IT bands.
(-) price-wise, it's substantially more than a pair of LAX balls.
Overall, I think it's an improvement over LAX balls; but, probably not something that most people need to spend the extra money for. If you're like me, and have high need, a high pain threshold for really digging into your fascia, and are looking to take your LAX balls to the next level--it's likely worth it. If you don't use your LAX balls consistently or need to, then don't spend $40 when LAX balls are almost as good for $15
