Rated 3 out of 5 by from Think before you buy I am an Infantry officer, serving as an infantry company executive officer in a unit deploying to afghanistan shortly. I have also been to crossfit level 1 course and have been an avid crossfitter for a year. This oackage has a lot of good stuff, however, there are a few changes I would make to better suit the needs of a deploying unit. First, the rings and gymnastic pull up system need to go. Its too easy to build Pull up bars, and they are extremely common both overseas and at home station. Most soldiers don't have the strength or skill to use rings during PT and other than pre existing pull up bars you will be hard pressed to find a location to hang the rings. The metal plyo boxes should be replaced with the Rouge Games Boxes. For one it is a space saver, and they also pack better. Additionally, it would be really easy to build the boxes yourself, or use old tires for free. The rowers take up quite a bit of space, and it will be interesting to see if they stay together when we ship them overseas. I would cut the quantity to 4 rowers. With these cuts you save about $4,000 which could be used for other items like squat racks, which are not included. This package offers no opportunity for heavy load strength building. I would like to see 2x W-4 Garage gym rigs. Also with the money you save, you need to think about matting, chalk, cleaning supplies, PVC pipe/mobility tools, and storage of all this stuff. In particular, I would like to see some barbell storage racks. For matting, you need enough to make a few jump rope areas, as using these ropes on concrete would be dangerous for fraying and impossible on grass. As far as usage is concerned, smaller classes are better than bigger ones. It is probably not feasible to run a full infantry platoon through a workout at a time with this set, mostly due to quality control and safety, not from equipment shortages.
