Rocktape Knee Caps – Manifesto

Rocktape Knee Caps are knee compression sleeves designed specifically for the functional movements of weightlifting-- where lateral stability is critical. Use these during squats, Olympic lifts, or any other movement that places stress on the knee.

Extended higher on the leg than most athletic knee sleeves, Rocktape Knee Caps effectively compress the vastus medialis (a part of the quad muscle critical to knee extension) just above the patella. This design, combined with heat-sealing seams, ensures optimal tracking, contouring, and blood flow.

  • Generation III. Knee Caps now are sewn using “double” Mouser stitches which greatly enhances durability.
  • Added height for VMO support*
  • SBR neoprene is a more durable neoprene which adds durability and comfort.
  • 4-way Lycra liner provides a softer feel and better breathability.
  • Thickness: 5mm / 7mm
  • Materials: 90% Neoprene 10% nylon
  • 12-month warranty

5mm: Knee support that won’t greatly reduce your range of motion and mobility. Good for metabolic conditioning.

7mm: A slightly more heavy-duty knee sleeve that delivers extra support for powerlifters, Olympic lifters, Strongmen, etc.

*The vastus medialis muscle is one of four quadriceps muscles. It is located on the inner part of the front of the thigh. . The lowest part of the vastus medialis, called the vastus medialis oblique (VMO), achieves its maximum contraction during full extension. The VMO helps to stabilize the patella and allow it to track properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unsatisfied I bought these sleeves back in April. I wear them about 3 days a week and they are now falling apart at the seams. Apparently the ones I purchased only had a 90 day warranty so I'm stuck buying a new pair. Would not purchase these again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have never been more disappointed. Unfortunately, I got these when they first came out and there were no reviews. Within a month of use they began to fall apart. Don't waste your money. Now a year later the seem tape is all gone, and the stitching is coming out, and the inside fabric is coming undone. I know other brands of knee support used at my box are twice as old as mine in far better shape.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best I have owned. Masters athlete with over 20 years of serious lifting and now Crossfit under my belt. Use these daily, no more wrapping for heavy lifts. 7M are my choice and holding up fantastic. sizing was spot on based on RT chart.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very durable I bought these in the 5mm around 6 months ago and initially they felt super supportive with heavy squats. After using them 3-4 time a week (which i feel is light use in the CF world) they have started fraying across the knee and the initial tight support that I loved has loosed significantly. Pretty disappointed with the durability of this product

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Help a lot but not made that well I love my Rocktapes, but... I've had them about six months and am having to replace them because both of them have ripped at the seams. That makes me unhappy!! I do wear them 3-4 times a week, but I'm careful with them and they shouldn't rip like this. Unfortunately Rehband has quit making their 7mm sleeves. Hopefully Rocktape will step it up in the sowing department cause I've ordered another pair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Sleeves these sleeves have held up pretty well so far after a good amount of use. good support as well

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not what I expected At first I loved the design of having a taller knee sleeve, but these fell apart very quickly. Rogue was awesome and sent me a second pair, but those tore quickly as well. I would not recommend these knee sleeves at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Honeymoon is over... Purchased these on 5/2/14. Used them 3 times a week. At first, they were awesome. Now, falling apart at the seams. I thought they fixed this problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not a fan ! rogue tried to do everything they could to make me happy so I still completely stand by rogue, but this product has been a bust for me. I have gone through 4 sets of these knee caps. inside material disintegrates and separates after sweating during a few hard work outs. also the outside seams completely separate, basically these just cant stay together as a unit for me. complete disappointment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Affordable, some design quality issues Bought these about 6 months ago, priced well and wanted to give a different brand a shot. From the first few times I pulled them on I noticed small tears in the exterior material. Today I noticed large rips between the knee portion and the side wall. The seam itself is holding but the neoprene has pulled away. Unclear if sizing or material is an issue.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Quality Love the knee sleeves but the quality is horrible. I had to call rock tape and have them warrantied after only wearing them for a week because the seams had started to rip and tear. I think i'll just go with rehbands next time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great at first... Did what they were meant to for the first 8 months...they have been falling apart and no longer add much compression so I just ordered new Rehbands....Hoping they will be a better quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very disappointed i was hoping would offer the same or similar performance like the rehband but did not come close. It felt good in the beginning but wthin a month of using it ,the sleeves will start to stretch out and you no longer feel the tightness. My advice is spend a little more and invest on rehbands instead. Remember, your knees is a very valuable joint and hurting it will just make you more miserable. Trust me , i learned it the hard way.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ripping apart at the seams!!! I purchased a set of Rocktape Knee Caps at North Central regionals this year and had the Rocktape consultants direct me in sizing. The sleeves felt really good for a while but in 3 months the stitches have almost ripped completely down the seams. I won’t be buying again and will go back to my old Rehbands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No Good! We have had multiple people buy these knee sleeves and they are ripping after a couple months of use. Everyone seemed to like them until they ripped. Reband is the way to go!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great if you don't mess up I got these back in December 13. They are great no doubt about that. I use them for metcons that I have to move loads and they are much more comfortable than the powerlifting knee sleeve which are much more stiff. The only drawback for these would be that if you put them in the dryer one time it starts the process to start to fall apart. The glue that holds some of the lining together in the inside of the sleeve starts to come undone. They still work great don't get me wrong. Just make you air dry only.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Material ripping away from stitching This is a follow-up from a review I posted 3 months prior. I've been using these knee caps for a little over 3 months now. They get used about twice a week. I really like the support they have given me. Unfortunately I noticed today that the material is starting to rip away from the stitching behind the knee. I was upset to see this because I know Rogue is known for standing behind quality products. I could have possibly gotten a bad cap, but the other side is doing it as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Was supper excited when these came out as they touted superior design, etc. I bought them as soon as they launched. Functionally they worked great, but I am very disappointed with the durability. The inside is coming apart and I have holes in the knee. Never had that happen with the Rebands. I would stay away if the quality is not improved.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fell apart less than 2 months I got these beginning - mid of June. It's not even august yet and both have completely fallen apart. I'm talking huge ripped and gaping holes down the seams on the side and about 12 horizontal snags through the knee. They are pretty worthless now and provide the support. I got the same size i wear my rehbands which I've had way longer and still have no rips or snags.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great at first I wanted to try these out to see if they are the same quality of the Rehbands. At first these were fantastic, they had great compression, and kept my knees warm. 2 months later they started to slide when doing anything and they are coming apart at the seems, they do how ever still keep my knees warm. Im going to go back to the rehbands for sure

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Busting at the seam! I've had 2 pair now. 1 was replacement from the company due to a rip in the seam. But the second pair did the same exact thing

Rated 4 out of 5 by from make sure to order sm great product for protecting aging old knees like me. I have no knee injuries (crossing my fingers) but still wear them as a precaution. They work great when doing wods that consists of jumping, squatting , and running. Feels very comfortable and will not interfere w/ your performance. The only downside is that i ordered a med sz and over time the sleeve will slowly stretch and causes shifting. Im a big guy weighing about 210 lbs and i thought med would be too tight but believe me order the next sz down. it might feel tight and uncomfortable in the beginning but overtime your knees will get used to it and will thank you later

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rocktape Knee Caps I suffered a mild/moderate knee injury in middle school. The area affected is just above my patella. Im 28 now and started crossfit a year ago. I've been noticing some pain in my deep squat position, and started looking into knee support. These sleeves are great. My knee feels solid and I feel the gains will follow. I was reluctant when I saw the price, but they are worth it. I measured at 14.25 and ordered a LG 7mm. It fits like a dream. I bit hot and they get a little sweat soaked, but I sweat profusely so my opinion may be skewed. No loss in mobility with the 7mm. Only disappointed that they're made in China, but they are clearly high quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great I was torn between getting Rehband and getting these. I read a lot of reviews about Rehband because I work out at an affiliate and a lot of people use them so I figured they must be good. I thought I'd try these out and I love them. I got the 7mm knee caps and they are very well designed and was surprised at how much they helped. They keep your knees noticeably warmer and give exceptional support. Squatting is much easier with these and you don't feel as loose in the hole. I wouldn't adivse getting these for running or anything other than lifting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent I just used these 5mm size large while doing over head squats. They held up great, no bunching and did not feel as tight as other brands. They seem to be a little longer so I wasn't constantly tugging on them. finished my workout with 100 air squats for time and they felt great. Looking forward to trying the 7mm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING Been having some some knee issues due to heave squats and sumo DL's. My coach suggessted that I get a pair of knee sleeves. There are many out there but decided to go with the 7mm ones. So glad I did. I swear they're magic. It's like having little personal heaters on your knees. Mobility was outstanding....and the support was even better. Highly recommended.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok at first I liked them at first and only use them sparingly, but after about 15 WOD's the liner on the inside has come away from the sleeve and bunches up during the WOD. The outside seams have a piece of thin neoprene or fabric covering where it is stitched together. This piece appears glued on and on my selves is now beginning to fall off. I guess I expected a little better from these sleeves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fell apart in less then a month... Bummed about these. I got them and within the first 2 weeks of using them they began to fall apart. The black material covering the stitching has become unglued on both sleeves. I wasted my money on two pairs, one for myself and one for my coach.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked well, as long as they were in 1 Piece at $60 a pair I hoped I wasn't cheapening out. I was wrong. Within a week the black tape on the seems came apart. No worries, seemed cosmetic only. Then the neoprene went, then the seems. Now i have good handles on the sides to pull them up with, but lets face it. If it cant handle a squat, it probably wont handle being pulled for too long anyore either. DOA. Hopefully rogue fitness fulfills their end in replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Started falling apart at 1 month Great support, felt wonderful. Until about 3 weeks in. Started with the trim coming off which may have just been a cosmetic issue covering the seams. Until the neoprene actually started coming part in the sleeve, ultimately leading to a giant tear on both sides. Rogue says they'll send a replacement pair but I don't have much hope. Save your money and go with Rehbands. Wish I would have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I purchased these to use during my first CrossFit Competition. They work great and I really notice when I don't use them. I like to use them for all types of squats but peel them off when rowing or running.
Date published: 2014-01-10
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Very poorly made product vs peers. At just under a month old mine have fallen apart completely. Only air dryed and never washed. Look to Rehband as a superior product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from UPDATED REVIEW As an update to my prior review: I have now used these in 5-6 workouts. One of the two knee sleeves is breaking apart already. The interior seams appear to be taped or glued and not stitched. I'm sure this saves a lot of cost but it appears to be a quality issue. The seams are breaking apart on 1 of the 2 sleeves. This should not be happening after such a short use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Going back Rehband Order these in late Nov and the lining that covers the stitching is already falling apart. Other lifters that order the same caps are also experiencing the same thing. Contacted Rocktape and while they did offer to replace the caps or give me a credit they said the lining would not affect the overall quality. Well, two days later the stitching itself started coming apart. Big disappointment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but... I bought the 7 mm thick versions: Pros: Excellent support when I was doing front/back squats. Very comfortable to wear. I think the added thickness helps me lift an extra 2-3 kilos because you can feel the tension in them when you're in the low position. As an added bonus, they help keep my legs warm. Cons: They bunch up a bit on the back of my knee when my legs are bent. It is slightly uncomfortable, but I can live with it. Also, the extra thickness interferes with my OLY lifting because the barbell clips them during my first pull. Because I also use neoprene calf sleeves, as a work-around I pull the top of the calf sleeve over the first 1/2" of the knee sleeves. Maybe the 5 mm versions would be better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely awesome sleeves They work phenomenally. The compression is enough to provide a good amount of support, but not so much that other movements such as running or double-unders are difficult. Also, I've experience little to no pinching during squats. Overall, awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Product - just what you expect and want I have been experiencing issues with my knees for the past 6 months or so--coincidentally the time that the OLY component of my training went up in both volume and intensity. I've been wanting to invest in a pair of knee sleeves for some time and finally grabbed these. I purchased the 7mm small knee caps. I have never owned a pair of rehband's so can't compare. So far I have used to: - A - heavy squat session (wearing 1 sleeve on right knee) - B - longer OLY session (snatch, C&J, and F.Squat) Initial thoughts: - Exactly what you'd expect. A neoprene sleeve keeps your knees warm and improves tracking of your movements at high load and especially in the bottom position. - I definitely notice no pain in my knees when lifting, while over the past couple of months I've felt some pain the bottom of my squat position. - Knees are substantially warmer and have noticeable compression. I'll update this review in a few months as to whether the material is breaking down or holding up as expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST ones yet!!!! I really love squats and these knee caps from Rocktape are just amazing. I love how extended they are compared to other brands. I got the 7mm thick caps and these make me feel totally secure when going heavy on squats. My knees used to be sore after doing squats but not after getting these bad boys. Don't hesitate…just buy them! You definitely won't regret it.

Rocktape Knee Caps - Manifesto Pair is rated 2.775 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rocktape Knee Caps I purchased the 5mm Medium knee caps. I wear a small in the grey rehband sleeves and based on the sizing listed, I went with the medium rocktape knee caps (my measurement at the patella is 14.75). What I prefer about the Rocktape sleeve is the fact that they are longer and seem to stay in place a bit better. I do seem to sweat more with the Rocktape sleeves, but not enough to where Im dripping like the Tommy Kono sleeves. As far as preference, I would say I prefer the Rocktapes simply because they are longer, but both brands get the job done.
