When we launched the 20KG Ohio Bar in 2013, we set out to make the best all-around barbell on the market. Designed to be used for squats, bench press, and deadlifts to cleans, snatches and everything in between, the Ohio Bar has become the go-to choice for garage gyms and training facilities all over the world.
THE ORIGINAL
Black oxide, the original finish of the Ohio Bar, pays homage to the old school iron game. With this treatment process, the knurl is left exactly how we machined it, providing a great feel that cannot be achieved with other finishes. Unlike other finishes, the black oxide treatment does not add a coating layer between your hand and the knurl, allowing you to experience the true feel of the knurl. Over time, and with some care, this bar will develop a patina providing an antique look and a bar that will last a lifetime.
Please note: Black Oxide has a much lower oxidation resistance than other finishes and requires regular maintenance. For higher oxidation resistance and less maintenance, consider the Black Zinc, E-Coat, and Cerakote finish options of the Ohio Bar.

Our new low-profile sleeve design makes loading and unloading plates easier than ever. Black oxide shaft is paired with matching black oxide sleeves for a consistent look end to end.
2X QUIETER PERFORMANCE
Using precision machining, we are able to tighten the fit of the sleeve on the shaft which means a smoother spin, a more connected feeling while lifting and significant noise reduction.

F SCALE™ APPLICATION
How a barbell is used will affect its durable lifespan and it's a key factor in determining what type of F Rating™ might be suitable for your gym's needs. This graph correlates the F Rating™ of a barbell with different types of usage in order to predict the durable lifespan. Using this data, we are able to make recommendations on what F Rating™ is appropriate for different training situations. With a rating of F8-R, the Ohio Bar is rated to last 16 years in a high volume CrossFit gym and will outlast a lifetime of lifting in an Olympic Weightlifting gym, a home gym or a Powerlifting gym.

BARBELL WHIP

TENSILE STRENGTH
Expressed in PSI, tensile strength measures the maximum weight a barbell can support before deforming. The 190K tensile strength falls within the optimal range of not bending under normal use, yet not been inflated to the point that it will shorten the life of the bar.
BARBELL KNURLING EXPLAINED
Our signature knurl, designed for multi-purpose use, provides a firm grip without being abrasive. This falls in the middle of the road on the knurl scale, striking a balance without being overly aggressive or passive.

Key Features of The Ohio Bar - Black Oxide:
New 190,000 PSI Steel
This steel is manufactured in the US and has proven to be one of the best steel variants for a multi-purpose barbell. Each barbell shaft is ground and polished prior to machining which allows the bar to have a very smooth finish.
BUILT FOR MULTI-PURPOSE PERFORMANCE
All of our flagship 20KG Ohio Bars utilize a U.S. steel variant that we believe is the best in the industry for use in a multi-purpose barbell. The 190,000 PSI shaft is ground and polished prior to machining, ensuring a smooth finish and optimal performance, and the refined knurling pattern delivers a firm but non-abrasive grip. Quality bronze bushings help produce an ideal combination of the consistent spin needed for Oly lifts and the stability required for heavy powerlifting.
NEW STRICTER TOLERANCES
Every connection in the 20KG Ohio Bar now has tightened tolerances measuring in the thousandths of an inch. Using custom electronic gauging, we can produce a multipurpose bar that consistently meets our exacting standards. This applies to the knurl and the sleeve profile, as well as the features in the shaft and sleeves that enable a perfect fit during assembly. The result is less axial and radial float of the sleeves (i.e. enhanced stability), significant noise reduction, and a more solid feel throughout the lift.
Fit and Finish
Each Ohio Bar finish offers a different level of oxidation protection and has a direct effect on the feel of the knurl. Black Oxide is a mild oxidation protectant process. This type of steel treatment will still require some maintenance but will give the best knurl feel, more like a bare steel bar.
