Rogue FML-HR Functional Trainer - Add-On

I’m genuinely grateful that Rogue makes this add-on available for existing Monster Lite rack owners. Being able to convert an existing rack into a full functional trainer without replacing the whole setup is absolutely brilliant. It integrates seamlessly and instantly makes the rack feel like an entirely new machine. I had a 43" RML and converted into a 6 post by adding two new uprights and four 24" crossmembers. The twin stacks smaller footprint was perfect for me. Delivery & Hardware Delivery went smoothly. With hundreds of kilos of steel being transported, some small cosmetic scuffs were expected, but nothing that affected function in any way. A tip for anyone unboxing: If, like me, you lay everything out neatly and match hardware to the instructions, note that several bolts come pre-installed, and some shroud bolts are packaged separately, so don’t panic if you can’t find them at first glance. They can easily hide in the huge amount of packaging. Assembly Experience I was extremely nervous beforehand, but honestly, the build was much simpler than I expected. The instructions were excellent and everything fit together beautifully. A few points worth knowing: Ignore the Monster (non-Lite) YouTube videos — use the printed Rogue instructions. The pulley layout is different enough that the videos just confuse things. As soon as the cables arrive, lay them out straight for 24 hours. A lot of people who later report cable issues never did this. Cable routing seems intimidating, but once you start, it’s very logical. Rogue’s instructions say to tighten the trolley hardware and roller hardware — my advice is do this in absolutely tiny increments. The rollers barely need tightening at all. I overtightened one and lightly scuffed my upright, so go slowly. Anchoring & Floor Notes I followed Rogue’s anchoring guidelines and cut out my rubber flooring so the rack sits directly on concrete. The functional trainer’s low row footplate and rear foot assembly also sit at floor level, so if you anchor directly to concrete, you’ll likely need to cut additional flooring sections for those parts as well. Not a huge issue, but something to be aware of. If you don’t have to anchor to concrete, keeping it on mats would make life easier. Using the Trainer This thing is a joy to use. Absolutely outstanding. The list of lower and upper body exercises is limited only by your knowledge and imagination. Range of motion is excellent even on a 90” rack and even for tall users. If you need more ROM for triceps pushdowns, you can simply step back with the front cables or use the lat pulldown pulley, which is slightly higher and perfect for overhead or vertical movements. Sitting on the floor for low row isn't an issue for me, but works equally when on a bench. The movement is extremely smooth. It can make a bit of noise at first (normal for new bushings contacting guide rods), and Rogue themselves recommend a light wipe of 3-in-1 oil on the rods during the break-in period. Totally normal. Included Attachments The included attachments are phenomenal: D-grips — excellent knurling and quality Lat pulldown bar — commercial gym quality and better than any I've used. Note: its very long and cant be used on low row. Multi-use roller — an absolute must! Great for hip thrusts (perfect height at lowest hole) Fantastic for split squats (perfect height at lowest hole ) Works as a seat for low-row accessories Makes single-arm lat pulldowns much more stable (akin to prime stability pad) Can even function as a chest support for certain movements Opens up leg extension (with box and ankle cuffs) Standing hamstring curls and stiff leg deadlifts and RDLs To me, the shrouds are a must. They greatly improve the aesthetics and are worth it in my opinion. The whole setup has expanded my training options massively. Final Thoughts I genuinely couldn’t recommend this more. The Monster Lite Functional Trainer Add-On is hands-down the best purchase I’ve made for my home gym. Rogue knocked it out of the park with this. The build quality is outstanding, the functionality is commercial-grade, and it’s elevated my entire training setup far beyond what a standard rack offers. If you’re on the fence — don’t hesitate. It’s worth every cent.
