Kabuki Strength Duffalo Bar

Developed by renowned strength coach and powerlifter Chris Duffin, the Kabuki Strength Duffalo Bar features a proprietary multiple radius bend that is uniquely designed for both squatting and pressing movements. The curve of the bar reduces stress on the shoulders, biceps, and back, while enabling scapular retraction and superior joint centration. For any lifter looking to focus on form and performance while reducing muscle fatigue and injury risks, this is a must-have specialty barbell for the arsenal.

The Duffalo Bar is manufactured from a 195 KSI tensile strength alloy steel (32mm diameter) and features oil impregnated bronze bushings. The curve of the bar is contoured to comfortably suit just about any size athlete, whether performing low bar, high bar, or even front squats. This design also leaves out the unnecessary center peak that often cancels out some of the benefits of similar curved buffalo bars. When held in the pressing position, the Duffalo Bar forces a beneficial wrist angle that reduces strain on the shoulders while promoting better lat and scapular engagement.

There is 17.25” of loadable sleeve length on the Duffalo Bar, with a load capacity topping 1,500 LBS. An expansion point is also built-in to the collars for Kabuki Strength’s optional Band and Chain Handle Attachment*, which you can add to your order in the drop down menu.

All Duffalo Bars are manufactured in Portland, Oregon, and are available in three options:

  • Clear Zinc: Shiny and bright with a bluish-silver hue that fades to a gunmetal grey color over time. Standard but durable option.

  • Black Oxide: Adds minor corrosion resistance, limits light reflection, and creates a great gunmetal black finish.

  • Electroless Nickel: A premium finish typically used in high wear environments. This finish has a high level of corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and longevity of its bronze color.

Great Bar
Bought this bar back in May and didn’t realize it was manufactured to order. Took roughly 9wks all in all to come in but that’s also in the middle of a pandemic, so take it in perspective. Reached out to customer service multiple times checking in on it and Cade was extremely helpful. Now that it’s here I’m happy I bought it-love this thing for Squats. Also, saw a lot of reviews about these things rusting and I’ve had mine in an uninsulated garage for a month in AL humidity and it’s totally fine. So don’t let that scare you off!

Great bar, BUT.....
This bar is great. Bench press and normal press feel much better on the shoulder. I haven't squatted much with it yet. BUT! So the price of this bar is a lot. $590 or so dollars is very, very steep for a bar, when you consider some of the other bars on the market. I think I would be fine if stopped there, but it doesn't. You see, the bar will rust. This bar doesn't come stock with a coating like many of the other bars sold here do.... if you live in a humid area, in a garage / basement, your bar will start to turn brown. It boggles my mind that the manufacturers would let someone drop almost 600 and not go out of their way to provide coatings or explain them to people. Now... you can get the bar coated but not from Rogue... you have to go directly the manufacturer. The best coating suggested for the bar is around $150. So you now have a barbell that with the recommended coating will cost you around $850. Is it worth it? That all depends. I'm in a position to throw my money at stuff like this but other people wouldn't be. One thing is for sure: I don't think the barbell with coating should cost $850 but there isn't anything else like it on the market. I begrudgingly give it 4 out of 5 stars.

This Duffalo Bar got a whole lot more TACTICAL!
I ordered this bar about 6 weeks ago and have used it for a full 3 week wave for Squatting, benching, and shoulder pressing. Its just awesome. For back squatting it is so comfortable and seems like it was made to fit my traps and shoulders. It's also great to change things up for front squatting. For benching and pressing the angle of your grip/wrist is very comfortable and seems more of a natural angle to me than a standard bar. If could have only one specialty bar I would invest in this one. The collars are extra long for adding up even super wide High temp 45 lbs or hundreds of pounds of metal plates. The bar has great knurling and a cool options for adding on hooks to fast attach bands or chains. This bar is pure AWESOME! The only issue with I had was after the first week the bar started rusting everywhere. I live in central FL and train at home in our back yard garage gym. Humidity is heavy hear about 7 months out of the year so I am extra carful to keep all our bars and gear oiled, cleaned and protected to try and minimize surface rust. I oiled the Duffalo Bar after unboxing it and doing my first Squat session with it. Even still with in about 4 days I noticed signs of surface rust beginning. 2 weeks later I realized no matter how clean and oiled I kept this bar the rust was just getting worse. Not a problem! Over the years I have refinished many firearms so I decided to Duracoat the Duff bar with one of my new favorite colors offered by Daniel Defense called "Tornado Grey". I have a Ar-15 in this color that looks awesome so I decided to paint the bar that color. It took 2 of the new and super easy to use Duracoat aerosol spray cans. The paint and prep supplies ran about $100 but was worth the extra investment. (See pics below) This Duffalo Bar is now rust free, sealed, protected and a whole lot more Tactical! Pictures included for before and after. f

Game Changer
Definitely for the shoulder in wider grip pressing positions this is the solution.I have not squatted with it as I use Rogue squat bar. I want to know the thread size for the holes on the inside collars so I can install a lifting eye there for accomadating resistance. Rogue can you put this info in description or a response? Thanks

Go to Bar for Bench
I waited a long time for this and have been using for about 6 weeks. Greatly reduces any shoulder pain due to the angle. Adds great emphasis to the chest because of the increased depth and the chest activates first. Aggressive knurl, great for bench grip. During the Squat it sits in a perfect groove on your back...straight bar feels like it barely has a range of motion after using this. Has become my go to bar.
