MobilityWOD Super Nova
Let’s get a couple of things straight. First, it took us almost 18 months to figure out how to make this thing it’s so complicated. No wonder everyone was just making little balls with spikes. The Super Nova is the first of its kind, revolutionary. Your tissues are probably like wet grilled cheese sandwiches. Putting an Ice-pick into that mess won’t change anything. You have to shear those layers apart. Look, we didn’t invent the shear concept or grilled cheese, we just made it better. This thing is a one-way ticket to legitsville.
Second: We should have probably just called it the “Super” because this thing really is really super. Like really super. We too have grown tired of roto-tilling and steam rolling our hard working tissues. We needed a device that would allow us to create higher global shear pressures so that when we rolled, it actually made us better. So we made one.
Oh, and another thing. We work with actual athletes. Have you seen the quads and glutes of someone that actually squats? Look, you regularly ride those ponies hard and put them away wet. You are also probably an adult with a job and don’t have a million extra hours to spend “recovering” and “getting more awesome”. You need tools that are effective, and fast. And did I mention portable? Have you ever gone through security with a foam tube. You’d get flagged as a risk. Because obviously foam tubes are for children. You also need a tool that doesn’t get swallowed up in an office chair like a child’s lacrosse ball. You’re a CEO for crying out loud. Isn’t it time you started respecting your hamstrings?
If this ball had a motto it’d be "More shear, more better, more awesome."

Well worth the price - seems to be excellent quality of materials, and the savings in massage costs alone will help it pay for itself before the end of the Open.

The supernova is a great massage ball. It seems to be marketed as a foam roller/massage ball hybrid. It does a good job for glute and hamstring massage, but it really shines with upper and lower back massage. Vastly superior to plain black and white foam rollers and lacrosse balls. This makes a great supplement to a rumble roller
The biggest con is the price. For ~$40, you can get the pair of beastie balls, which I feel do a much better job. If the price were closer to the $20-$25 range, I would give this 5 stars.
Overall, a great product and happy to add it to my mobility arsenal.

Excellant device, works better than a softball although pricey.Review by Hatman
PRO's: Immediately hopped on my hips and glutes to give a whirl. Yes it works better than a softball. The texture of the supernova seems to be able to get into the nooks and cranny's of your stiff tissues. I never realized how the stitching on a softball can get in the way when rolling around on it, not an issue with the Supernova. The extra height you get with the Supernova also helps "get into" the tissues better and deeper. And yes the whole "more shear" concept is definitely there (due to the texture and constuction) and is better than a softball.
Cons: Price, yes it is better than a softball, but at 10 or 20 times the cost, it's not a necessary item. You can certainly get started with a softball. Then after some time goes by and you get the itch to get that nice bottle of Scotch or Burbon, don't, and get this instead. :P
All in all a good device and would buy another one if it wasn't for the cost. I also won't recommend my to friends who are just getting started this device. Certainly it's for those that want to take things up a notch, but remember it's just 1 notch not 1 million notches. Giving 4 stars only due the price. Would be 5 stars if it was more around the $20, but I understand the early adopters have to pay a little more up front. Lets hope the price can come down in a few months.
