Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the job done. I'll never understand the impulse to spend $$$ on pretty plates. Weights have one job: to be heavy. Cast iron gets the job done and is incredibly durable without requiring profligate spending. Let's face it: you can find cheaper weights on Craigslist, but you're here because you want new equipment. I get it. Me too. But there's just no need to be flashy. Stop worrying about what color your plates are and get lifting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meets all expectations I've had a set of 5 lb and 2.5 lb plates for a while now, and plan to load up on a few sets of 45s soon. As some of the other reviews said, if you're worried about chips or scratches, then spend the extra money on the pretty training bumpers. Otherwise, these are the standard for most garage gyms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Steel Plates are for lifting, not viewing!! I've owned these plates (4 x 45, 2 x 10, 2 x 5, 2 x 2.5) for almost 18 months now. I'm getting ready to order 2 more sets of the 45s, I've been subbing bumpers during deads and they aren't fitting anymore. Yeah, they are off an occasional pound or few ounces but who cares. They are scratched, they chip a bit but who cares. For the price, while "Rogued up" a bit, the quality of these is Great. Their customer service is outstanding which I appreciate more so than anything. I've ordered several large quantities over the years and they always get to me on time and I'm able to track them the whole way. Rogue has a customer for life!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple addition to my fractional plates (1.25lbs) Needed to add these to my fractional plates. They work fine and do the task when I need to add 2.5lbs roughly for maxes. They do look higher quality than the york plates too that I have. Good work, Rogue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good enough, but... We bought these for our gym here in Tulsa, OK; going forward, we're going to be focusing on Rogue's training bumpers instead (which we also purchased). These are reasonably priced, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. The tolerance is average — we weighed a "45lb" plate at 47.4lbs, and another on the same scale at 44.3lbs. That's not good, but it's also pretty typical for 'standard' iron plates. The finish on these plates is also average at best. It's susceptible to scratches and chips, and there are bumps where they aren't molded evenly. On a few of the plates, the chrome lettering bleeds off the letters and onto the plate itself. That's not to say they're bad; it's just that they're nothing to write home about. For our gym, we're going to stick with the training bumpers going forward because they have a much better fit and finish, and are built to much tighter tolerances.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but just short of great I purchased the 1.25 lb plates to use for fractional weight increases at the gym. Rogue offered the most reasonably priced deal I could find (after looking on eBay and Amazon). The shipping was quick and the information communicated in the emails was very helpful. I am not familiar with acceptable/unacceptable standard deviations in barbell plate weights but one plate weighed in at 1.21 lbs and the other plate weighed in at 1.48 lbs. Together they total 2.69 lbs, not 2.5 lbs. The difference is minimal enough that I don't believe it will be an issue. All said and done I would order again from this site.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for change plates I only have the 1.25, 2.5, and 5 lb variants to use with my bumper plates. I've dropped them and they seem fine, other than the small defects they came with (paint and chipping of metal, possibly from casting). I would say they're a 4.5/5 due to their less than perfect "new" quality. I don't need the utmost precision so these work great for my home gym as change plates. Good value for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Real Deal Equipment I have had some 25's and 45's for sometime now, and have no complaints. I train 5-6 days a week and am very pleased with them. They scuff, chip, clang, and bang like they should when using them. If you complain about chips and/or scratches then you're looking at the wrong aspects and should take up a different hobby. They aren't competition plates and don't cost anywhere near what competition plates do, so who cares. They definitely get the job done for someone who is actually looking to lift and train. If you are going to be dropping them from higher lifts I would definitely recommend bumper plates for safety purposes as well as prolonging the life or your equipment.
