Overview

Original Density or Extra-Firm

If you're new to foam rolling or have gotten positive results from any type of conventional foam roller, you'll want the original density (blue). Even though this is our "softest" roller, it's still more aggressive than any other foam roller on the market. The extra-firm version (black) is intended for experienced users with especially dense muscle tissue that doesn't respond to normal massage pressure.

Physical therapists, trainers, and athletes use foam rollers to relieve muscular pain and tightness (often called "adhesions", "knots", or "trigger points"). But conventional foam rollers have smooth, hard surfaces that further compress soft tissue. Rolling on top of them improves blood flow and tissue flexibility, but the effect is limited and relatively superficial, unless you spend a lot of time rolling. The RumbleRoller was created to perform this therapy more effectively. The surface of the RumbleRoller contains specially designed bumps that are firm, but flexible, much like the thumbs of a massage therapist.

As you roll over the top of the RumbleRoller, the bumps continuously knead the contours of your body, gently stretching soft tissue (muscle and fascia) in multiple directions. This action erodes trigger points, helps restore flexibility, and brings quick relief to common types of muscular pain. By design, the RumbleRoller's bumps are firmer than muscle tissue, but much softer than bone, so they deflect out of the way if they contact your spine or other bony protrusions.

Through simple techniques, you can control the amount of pressure the bumps apply to your body. The bumps are closely spaced to one another (< 2" apart), so several of them simultaneously contact your body during most exercises. However, with a slight shift of your body, you can reduce your area of contact with the RumbleRoller, which increases pressure and provides deeper, more penetrating relief.

Firm and Firmer

The Rumble Roller is a new evolution for rolling out muscle groups. Most people are use to soft rollers. These will truly work out the sore and tight muscles. The knobs work deep into the tissue. However, some people may have to work into the Rumble Rollers.

We have both sizes in blue. It takes some getting used to the firmness, but if you get massages you know how important deep tissue work can be for recovery. The large version is great for IT band work and all other leg area. The shorter version is perfect for any neck related areas too.

Rumble Roll towards healing injuries

Cheesy subject but the rumble roller offers serious results. I commute on a fixed gear bike and I had a bad fall a few months ago hurting my right leg. I felt tightness from my heel all the way to my shoulder especially on my hip and IT band. I've been doing a lot of castor packs, deep tissue massage with tiger balm and some PT which has helped but in just 3 days of using the rumble roller, my leg feels 'younger.' I had a nagging pain for years in my shoulder (rotator cuff) due to improper training when I was younger and in just 3 days I have been blown away at the range of motion I have regained in my shoulder. Lastly, I spent time on the erector spinae and my posture has also improved significantly. I went with the firm and even though the massochist in me would say "go harder" the firmness of the rumble roller especially on its 'thumbs' is really the key to how effective the roller is. Hats off to the Rogue Fitness team for offering this, it's a must have! (Note: the firm is very firm, even though I make mention that I could go harder, I have a high tolerance for pain especially when going in on trigger points.)

Deep tissue work from a massage therapist has always been beneficial while being quite painful....the Rumble Roller didn't let me down. WOW it really digs into the muscle and loosens things up. I only wish I had ordered the Blue one...the black one is very firm.

Firm but lacking....

I feel the staggering for the nubs was incorrect. If they were offset it would allow for better coverage. As they are now, they still create grooves which miss spots when rolling. Other than that, the firmness is excellent.

The rumble roller is truly an outstanding piece of equipment and no crossfitter should go without. it really makes recovery much easier. after you get over the pain of the first few sessions with the roller, it actually is quite relaxing. for those who either do not have the means or the desire for deep tissue massage. the rumble roller is a wonderful alternative. a must buy!

Absolute Necessity

This product is great for loosening up tight muscles from the previous day's workout/activity. I use it as a warm up prior to every workout I do (either lifting or metcon). It is also great as part of my cooldown to keep the muscles I just smoked from getting super tight so that I can maintain my workout intensity for several consecutive days. That being said, it does take some getting used to...so I recommend starting with a regular foam roller before jumping into this one.

Works deep into the tissue. If you abuse yourself at work or at the gym, I highly recommend this product. I like to use it prior to lifting to help warm up and get my blood flowing. Comes with a beginner's manual with good instructions. If the therapy is a bit intense at first, try using against the wall instead of the floor.

This is a great product! I use it often, and really like how it make my back feel. I recently had a slightly pulled muscle in my back, and this thing really got the kinks worked out! Great for Iliotibial (IT) Band Syndrome as well. I recommend the compact version, as it is just the right size for travel, and home use.
