SML-1 Rogue 70” Monster Lite Squat Stand

The SML-1 Monster Lite Squat Stand is a unique hybrid of the two most compact squat stands from Rogue's S-Series and standard Monster Series. Its 70” uprights are constructed from the same 3x3” 11-gauge steel tubing as the Monster SM-1, but with the 5/8” hardware and Westside hole spacing of the S-1.

Equally well suited to a small garage gym, large-scale weight training center, or CrossFit affiliate, the SML-1 Squat Stand operates within an efficient 49"x48" footprint, with an overall height topping out at six feet. It’s an American-built squat stand as versatile and durable as many power racks, available at an affordable price.

SML-1 Rogue 70" Monster Lite Squat Stand is rated 4.9286 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A True Beast! I love this thing already. It is sturdy, lightweight, has loads of potential attachments, and really makes you feel safe when squatting or benching. Rogue really overbuilt this thing, which is awesome! J-cups work great, powder coating looks great. Definitely get the safety spotters if you're buying for a home gym. They're strong and can easily function as a low rack for your barbell. I also got the base storage pins, which add extra support when they're storing bumpers. Overall, a killer squat rack that easily rivals commercial counterparts running much higher in cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty & CLEAN CUT I am a very picky person about gym equipment as I've been working out for over 15years and if the equipment is not solid, I don't really like to workout anymore. Your product put me back into lifting. THANK YOU ROGUE. Worth every penny!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use this for everything, and I love it! I have lower ceilings, so a power rack would have been a very tight squeeze, so I got this and love it. It can do everything (other than a pull ups) that I want to do, takes up less space and is much cheaper than a power rack. You definitely need to get the safety arms (even if they are a bit pricey). I suck at building things and this was very simple to put together. My only recommendation would be some sort of labeling on the holes, however you can easily mark it yourself with sharpie like I plan on doing. I also don't have this bolted to floor and, although I don't lift a ton of weight, don't see this being an issue at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why spend more when this does everything? I considered buying bigger and more expensive racks before I realized I was limited by the 7 foot ceiling in my basement. This was one of the few rogue racks that met my height requirement. It was shipped to me in 2 days and arrived in perfect condition. Assembly was easy and took less than an hour by myself. I'm an amateur lifter not putting up the big pounds, and this rack has been perfect for me. So far the most I've loaded has been 225 for squats and it was not a problem at all. I do not have the rack bolted to my floor and it does not move when I run into it with 225. I feel like it would be fine with 400 lbs too. Very sturdy. My only minor complaint would be that the pegs scratch the surface paint a little and it seems to wear off very easy, but honestly who cares about the paint on your squat rack. I'd almost prefer to get one unpainted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, price and service! The SML-1 was my first Rogue purchase and definitely not my last. I extensively researched every option on the market that would accommodate my 80" ceiling . I read every review, watched videos before making the decision to buy the SML-1. I've had it for almost two months and it's great. My only criticism is that the safety pin for the safety spotter arms does not align with the holes when configured for bench press. The arms still feel sturdy enough without the safety pin though. My future plans are to get the HR-2 conversion kit but I'm a little wary of whether or not the monolift will fit in the same spot. I may end up getting the Sandwich J-Cups which seem quite a bit nicer than the J-Hooks, wish I had bought those in the first place. The hole spacing on the rack allows you to configure the uprights in 3 different locations. I might also get the XML-43 Crossmember Pair and make it into a full rack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality, good value Have had the SML-1 a little under two months now, and love it. Not much I can add to the other reviews except to say that I work out alone and can say the Spotter Arms are excellent and worth every cent. I gassed on my last rep recently while benching and their cost never crossed my mind. At that moment in time, the ONLY thing that mattered was their quality, and I had exactly zero apprehension about missing it. Humbling, yes, but more importantly safe. Just a fine, American made product. Set up is what others report, 30-45 minutes if you're alone. There are cheaper ones out there, but they're just that, cheaper. Also ordered an Echo Bar and am completely satisfied with it as well. If you're reading these reviews, you're probably thinking about getting a stand, and if you pull the pin, I just can't image you'll be in any way disappointed with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Add the Conversion Kit for additional storage I added the conversion kit to the SML-1 so that I could store the plates. It worked out great and is an excellent setup for someone with low ceilings. The SML-1 + Conversion kit + Adjustable Bench 2.0 = Perfect Low Ceiling Setup

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SML 1 review First off, I just want to express how professional these guys are. Every purchase I've made these last few months has been stress free. Packaging is bulletproof, communication is prompt, and the deliveries arrived as scheduled. The SML is everything you could want in a squat/bench rack. Like everything else I've purchased from Rogue, it's overbuilt and I mean that in a good way. Nice little detailed touches like the machined lettering don't go unnoticed either. It's as beautiful as it is functional. Lots of compliments from friends and family. I also purchased the adjustable monolifts after watching a few YouTube videos on them and they are great. For the price on this setup, what can I say other than grab one for yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This squat stand is well worth the money. Three very minor things about this Squat stand you can complain about. 1st complaint being the plastic on the spotters arms getting scratched up from heaving barbells rolling across it. My response to that is who cares the spotter arms go above and beyond just serving there purpose as far as functionality and just being extremely well built. The 2nd complaint being that the spotter arms you have to purchase separately. Yes I will agree that is Rogue getting extra money out of you selling them separately but let's be honest your not going to get this high quality of a squat stand for cheaper let alone the same cost Rogue sells this for from it's competitors. The 3rd and final complaint is that safety pin doesn't match up with all the westside hole spacing. While this is a legit complaint the thing is built like a tank and it's not really even an issue. I'm not going to bother listing that it doesn't have a pull-up bar as a complaint because people who buy this are buying it because where they work out at has low ceilings. If they didn't have low ceilings they would either get a power rack or a squat stand with a pull-up bar. So to me this squat stand not having a pull-up bar is not a legitimate complaint. Overall this thing is a 5 star product and the best squat stand of it's kind on the market. I posted a video review I did of this product if anyone wants to watch it where I go over the squat stand in more detail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Monster Lite" is an understatement I just recently started lifting weights for the first time, but faced the dilemma of finding a reliable, sturdy squat stand as the center piece for my newly started home gym. After a few months of unsatisfied searching I came across the Rogue Fitness site and immediately found the above product. After a few more weeks of procrastination I bit the bullet and purchased the stand and I was not disappointed in the least. Not only did the stand ship faster than I expected, but it arrived in perfect condition and was a quick assembly (requiring only a ratchet) of about 45 minutes. The stand itself is truly a monster product. Extremely sturdy and durable - not to mention a great, mean look with the black finish and Rogue cutouts - leaving me to expect it to last quite a while. I also appreciate the sight of a company providing high quality equipment made in America by Americans. I also would recommend the safety spotter arms, if you like me, workout solo. Great for squat and bench press safety reasons. I am aware that the price is a bit of an ouch (especially for a frugal person like me), but I would say it is well worth it, unless you've got a reliable person who can help get the weight off of you in the off chance you get stuck under it (unfortunately I do not). They are also very strong and sturdy, and are able to be attached with ease. I am extremely happy with Rogue and I will certainly bring my business back to this company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid & Sturdy Equipment! I bought the SML-1 because of the 3x3 frame. Assembly took me about 45 minutes. All I needed was a 15/16 socket and wrench. The spotter arms were extra, but safety first. I also ordered the Beater Bar. I compared it to a generic bar. You'll notice the difference. UPS delivery took about 6 days, but then again I ordered this product on Labor Day weekend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Re: Perfect for Bench & Inclines I would like to add, it would be nice if they had plastic end caps for the top of the up-rights. Or a line of drop-in pull up bars that would slide into the top of the up-rights.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Bench & Inclines I went for the Monster Lite series because the footprint matches up with a 3/4'' piece of plywood & a rubbermat , and because of the ''Westside Barbell 1 inch spacing'' adjustments for the spotting arms. I would have bought one of the taller models but they're to tall to fit in the spot I set aside in my torture chamber. I use this rack (along with an adjustable bench that I already have) as a dedicated bench, incline & seated press rack. As per ''Dinosaur Training'' This set-up is great for full range of motion & especially partials like bottom position, middle & top position dead stops and the spotting arms along with the 1 inch increment adjustments make it perfect & completely safe in case I miss a rep. I know benching in the squat rack may sounds as bad as curling in the squat rack :-) but I already have a old school heavy duty power rack set up just for squatting. I was contemplating getting the "Westside Bench" but this was much cheaper with the bonus of being able to do inclines & seated press.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Rack A squat rack is a must have for any lifter and the SML-1 rack will not disappoint. It's well made and as sturdy as you'd need. My minor gripes with it are that the paint chips easier than expected and the accessories are very expensive, relative to the cost of the rack itself.... there are quite a few accessories to choose from. Overall, I'd still recommend this especially if you compare it with what else is out there. As a side note, Rogue should consider a west coast distributor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Highway Robbery! So, I have to pay 162.00 for spotting arms? That is nonsense! I won't argue the fact that Rogue makes excellent equipment. Wish Rogue would stop curtailing to commercial grade! Not to mention micro-bundling equipment to increase profits. The safety arms are almost half of the price and don't forget about shipping!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Centerpiece of a Home Gym I set this up in my basement which limits height otherwise it would make sense to get a taller unit with a pull up bar. I have it unbolted and sitting on stall mats. As I don't use it for plate storage if I slam my weights when I re-rack it can move a bit but not too bad. When I get some additional height in a new space this will either become a half rack via the Rogue kit or I'll swap it for a larger rack/stand and integrate a monolift kit and platform (if I have enough space I'll keep it as a second unit so multiple people can train more efficiently). 3x3 is strong enough for anything, looks cool, and can bolt accessories on all sides. Price premium on ML racks and parts is much less than that of the Monster series. I own the j cups and safeties too. Very happy overall and fits my needs/space perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Centerpiece of my Garage I purchased the SML-1 roughly one month ago and I am more than satisfied with this piece of equipment. I picked up the safety racks along with it as I am primarily working out alone and they give me the extra piece of mind to push myself as hard as I can to make gains. I use this set in more exercises than I wouldve ever thought. As others have said, this is build like a tank and I have no questions that it will probably out last me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded all of my expectations!!!!! Just put it together together today. When I opened the box with the j cups in it, I immediately knew that it was going to be quality. This squat stand feels like it could be ran over with a tank!!!!! I can't wait to break it in tommorow with a squat session !!! Thank you for making quality products right here in the USA!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for apartment I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment, but I was paying 100 a month for a gym I hated. When deciding between a cage and a stand, I found the rogue ones with safety pins. If you've ever failed a squat in a rack, you know a that all you need is the safeties. This is not only the best equipment I've ever owned, it's the best I've ever used, in every gym I've been in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stand and very versatile I bought this as my primary home gym and it is great. I can do my full routine with it. I have been using it for about a month and it’s great. I wish it came with another set of bar rests, so I would recommend getting an extra set when you buy one. I made a time laps of me putting it together, enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rogue = Quality This is one solid piece of equipment! i use it day in, and day out. i love the look and feel as well as functionality. I had a height restriction, and this fit perfectly. Once i found a socket big enough for the bolts, from taking it out of the box to putting it together it took as little as 30 to 45 minutes to put together alone. Love this product. i also bought a bar and bench with this as a package. buy the bench separately! its the same bench(rouge flat bench 2.0) only instead of 185$ its 175$ for some reason its 10$ cheaper for the same great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality I actually bought the HR-2, but Rogue includes the instructions to build an SML-1, SML-2, or the HR-2 with that rack. This is great for me, because I need an SML-1 right now due to height restrictions, but I'll be converting it to the HR-2 as soon as the new garage is built. The concrete pad that my SML-1 sits on is not very level. However, the bolts allow me to get around this by loosening them after everything is laid out, then tightening them back up. I purchased the matador dip attachment and tried it before bolting the SML-1 down. It was a bit shaky due to the unleveled pad. Now that it's bolted down in the front, it barely moves. I'll be picking up a second set of feet to bolt down the back and make this rock solid. Cost wise, this is not going to be your cheapest option. Most of Rogue's stuff carries a chunky price tag with it. Yet, Rogue isn't about being a cost leader; it's about being a value leader. I think in the area of value (where cost meets quality), Rogue generally knocks it out of the park. That certainly holds true for the SML-1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely great! I bought the stand last week and It came very fast. The online product support was very helpful and help me to make a decision to buy this version. I am amazed with the product. Assembly took 30 min. It is very steady, cool looking and essential piece of equipment. My home basement gym is complete by all means. This was my 1st buy from ROGUE. It does rock! Way to go Rogue! Ark.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the Best I was put in charge of setting up a gym for my work, and I immediately turned to Rogue. There was a bit of a space concern, and a strict budget. The Monster Lite stand is unbelievable quality. I had read all of the reviews, and I expected Rogue to provide a top-notch product, but any time I read "Lite" in a product's name, I question the strength. If you do the same, trust me there is nothing flimsy about this stand. I also got a set of the safety arms, which I also had some lingering doubts about. They laugh at being asked to serve as a deadlift rack. The entire unit is compact, affordable and more sturdy and well built than many racks found in commercial gyms. All I can say is, if you need the Monster series because the Monster Lite can't handle what you are doing, than I tip my cap to you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty as hell I recently just put this together and was in shock taking each piece out of the boxes. This thing is way heavier metal than any fitness equipment I've been around in my high school or in college. With the 11 gauge steel this thing is built like a tank. Westside hole spacing is clutch as well. Well done, Rogue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Product This is a quality product. I looked for a long time for primarily a squat stand that I could use in my basement gym. However, I wanted something that I could do more than just squats with also. I did not need the pull-up bars, so the SML-1 was the right choice for me. If you do need pull-up bars I would look at other options. This was a great purchase and I am very happy with it. The price is great if you consider the versatility of the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, Well built, Very impressed I was hesitant to purchase my SML-1 strictly for monetary reasons. However, I am very glad I did. It showed up 2 days after I ordered it and was very easy to put together. The SML-1 is alot bigger and stronger than I expected. It is pretty beefy. Works awesome for my garage. I am very impressed on how well this is constructed. I didn't buy the arms yet but hopefully in a month or two, I can get them. Well worth the money, thanks Rogue. As always, keep up the good work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic The SML-1 was perfect for me, I already had a Rogue pull-up bar so this fit the bill for me, assembly was straight forward and easy, it's a solid piece of equipment, I bench, squat and overhead press with the stand.
