The 20L Rucker 4.0 is the ultimate all-terrain, open-flat rucksack, available here in multiple colorways. With Version 4.0, GORUCK has rolled out several important new design features, starting with beefed up padding at the top of the interior Ruck Plate Pocket for better protection during burpees and bear crawls. The exterior slant pocket has been removed for a more streamlined front panel, and the impact-vulnerable interior zippers have been replaced by hook-and-loop closures with convenient, oversized pull tabs.
Functionally, the Rucker remains a compact and comfortable “gym on your back,” built for weighted PT and equipped with an elevated plate pocket specifically designed to hold GORUCK’s exclusive Ruck Plates® (sold separately). An additional 10mm of EVA foam padding along the bottom section of the back panel supports the natural curve of your back, and 210D HT (High Tenacity) CORDURA® on the back panel and underside of the shoulder straps helps prevent friction burn even when training shirtless.

The 20L Rucker measures 11.5" wide x 18" high x 5.5" deep (tapered to 4.5”) and includes (2) Ruck Plate Pocket designed for a 10LB, 20LB, 30LB or 45LB Ruck Plate. An interior elastic pocket can hold extra weight, whether in the form of (unsecured) Ruck Plates, or alternatives like Rogue Brick Bags (not recommended for burpees or bear crawls). The shoulder straps measure 15.9” long x 1/2” wide.
The primary material with all colorways of the Rucker 4.0 is 500D or 1000D CORDURA, with (4) padded handles (top, bottom, and both sides) and (2) interior mesh hook-and-loop pockets built in. Three rows of external MOLLE webbing are also included standard, along with a 3mm thick frame sheet, a hi-viz reflective safety stripe, and an adjustable/removable Sternum Training Strap to better disperse heavy loads. There are 2x3” hook-and-loop sections on the front panel and the Ruck Plate pocket for custom patch additions.
