Rated 5 out of 5 by from Choose Wisely I just opened the trainer, 1, and 2. They are nice quality grippers and I am happy with the craftsmanship. My goal of this review is to inform buyers of the actual difficulty and the utility of the grippers I purchased to help them make an informed buying decision and probably save some cash. Trainer- The trainer seems easy to close way nicer quality than a sporting good gripper but, there many other ways to train your grip up to the number 1 eliminating the need for this gripper. Number 1- I thought that I was going to be humbled by the number 1 because, the description says that most people who workout cannot close the CoC #1. I don't ever train my grip I was slightly challenged to close the number 1 20 times in a row. I feel like the number 1 will have the right resistance to get a good workout in but I am sure I will quickly surpass it. If you can't start with this gripper you probably haven't been working on getting strong enough to even start thinking about grip strength. If you have been working out and can't close this there are other means of getting you grip strong enough to close the number 1 than blowing 2 bucks on the trainer. Number 1.5- First off, I did not actually purchase or use the 1.5 but, judging off of the difficulty of the #1 and the #2 I do not think that 1.5 intermediary gripper is necessary. The jump in pounds from the trainer to the 1 is 40 pounds from the 1 to the 2 is 45 pound. work on closing the #1 20 times than you don't need the 1.5 you can start working on the number 2 and use the 1 for volume. Number 2- Number 2 seems more challenging although not as hard as I thought it was going to be. I am an 1/8 to a quarter of an inch from closing the number 2 and I am sure with a week of training I will easily conquer it. This is what I had imagined the number 1 would be like. The King Kong set- I also did not buy the King Kong set but, I will tell you it is not a very economical option. If you want to be decked out with nice grippers that both your grammy and grizzly bear can close and be challenged by and you have the money to blow then by all means buy the set. If you are like me and don't want to spend money on grippers you don't need then do not buy the whole set. If you take off the guide, sport, trainer, and #1.5 off of the list of gripper to have (what I would suggest) you would only pay 160 for the rest of the set buying them individually. My suggested buying method- Start with the 1, 2, and 2.5 and get the 3 ships free deal. If you can't close the #1 you should buy starting strength learn how to lift, stop doing x-fit for three to six, maybe even twelve months and build a base level of strength. If your grip is still too weak to close the number 1, do some specific grip work until able to start with the # 1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I learned my true grip strength Ordered the trainer thinking it would help build my grip strength. I quickly discovered i have no grip strength. I can get 7 reps for three sets, then struggle with the ability to hold a cup of water or competently use keys. I ordered the one for senior citizens to start using for a warm up because these are no joke. I'm hoping to eventually work up to the number one in a year or so. Definately recommend if you want a serious grip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CoC - Advanced Set Just received my advanced set this past week. The set includes the trainer, 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5 grippers. Each gripper comes individually packaged, and can be opened as needed so you can keep the ones you aren't ready for yet in new condition, or whatever you wish to do. I had not been training grip strength at all before this, and after only a few days, I am already feeling the improvement. Day 1 I struggled to close even the trainer, and I am now already up to closing the 1.5 (beginner gains I know!). I will probably move up to the 2 soon, but don't want to get ahead of myself. Anyway, the grippers are high quality, and probably the best available on the market. I believe that it pays to buy the right product in the beginning, so I went all out on the introductory set, and am glad I did. As I progress, I will just get the other individual grippers piecemeal as I feel the need. As with most physical things, there is actually a lot of technique involved that the lay grip-strength student will be unaware of, so I would recommend to anyone just starting out to check out the plethora of videos on Youtube (some better than others) that are devoted specifically to CoC gripper training and technique. These will bring you up to speed on holding, setting, closing the grippers, ect., and will help tremendously with ensuring proper gripper training. I believe there are also some books for sale, but you can probably just get all you need for free online. I would definitely recommend purchasing any of the gripper options for anybody serious about improving there grip, or even overall strength training.

If the Grippers went from 80lb, 90lb, 100lb, 110lb, 120lb, 130lb, 140lb, 150lb, 160lb, 170lb, 180lb, 190lb,200lb, 210lb, 220lb, ...300lb, 310lb, 320lb...400lb, 410lb....wonder who would be doing the 400lb...500lb set. I know more people would buy and try for the 400lb plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow Like many of you, I had seen and used those flimsy grippers back in the day. They were cheap and pretty much junk. I never anticipated buying any grippers after those experiences, but when my grip strength started to become a possible deadlift hindrance, I took a look. I figured if Rogue was selling them, they must be alright. I read the reviews and bought the CoC Advanced Set. These things are legit. Period. There is nothing scrawny or cheap about them. After giving each of grippers a squeeze I have the utmost respect for anyone who has ever closed a CoC #3. Closing the 2.5 with both hands wasn't even easy. If you are thinking about buying a set, but you don't want to waste money on junk, have no fear. Will you use them and get a stronger grip? That's up to you. Will you use them and be disappointed with the results? No way.

I have above average hand strength from doing manual labor all my life, swinging sledgehammers etc. so I decided to go with the men's set with the 1, 1.5, and 2 grippers. Im glad I did, I can close the number one probably eight times, and the 1.5 once so its a perfect place to start. The knurling is very aggressive, so if you fold doilies and pet rabbits for a living you may want to wrap the handles in cloth tape. Perfect for toughening your palms though. I would also recommend the expand your hands bands to keep from messing your elbows up.

I keep it on my desk at work and just use them throughout the day, Ive had more than people a few pick it to try it, so far no one has tried twice. I'm ordering the 1.5 and 2 today. These are high quality and American made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rogue+Ironmind=Priceless I love the CoC grippers. These are not the cheapy ones that sporting goods stores sell. I bought a #1,#2,#2.5,#3. I closed the #2 after a few short months of training. I'm working on my #3 to get certified! I highly recommend these. If you're looking for max strength out of grippers don't waste your time with the lighter ones like sport and trainer. You won't get stronger repping out with them. 3 reps or less and partials are the way to go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good start I have weak grip. My grip gives out around 225lbs on most lifts done for reps. I try to do a lot of forearm work and thought grippers would be a smart addition. I bought just the trainer as a start. If not for the really rough knurling, I could do more reps. As it is, I can do a couple of sets of 10-15 reps. It's a good starting point for me, but I'll be moving up soon to challenge my grip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality The first thing I noticed about these devices is the heft and attention to detail. They feel substantial in the hand as the wonderfully uniform knurling gently bites. For a weight lifter these feel at home in the hand. The knurl is not aggressive but biting enough to give a feeling of confidence in the grip. Simply put there is no higher quality device that will so drastically improve grip strength for such a low cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I just received the CoC's that I ordered. Got a Sport, Trainer, and 1. Wanted to get a light one, working one, and figured I wouldn't be able to close the 1 yet. The Sport is pretty easy, Trainer is good for me to work on, and I am about 4 mm from closing the 1. Craftsmanship is really quality, nice weight but not heavy. The round handles don't let you cheat and kind of tuck the grip in your palm like some cheaper ones I've had. For strength reference, I lift routinely weights, including wrist curls, and use hand tools to carve wood, so I'd say the 1 and either a Sport or Trainer would be an excellent combo for someone starting out with grippers. Have fun!

At first it was difficult, but after about a week I could do about 15 reps with my weaker hand, and about 20-25 with my stronger hand. I just received the 1, 1.5, and 2. After first opening them i was ablke to close the 1 & 1.5 with both hands, but it was definitely a challenge. These grippers are legit. If you want a badass grip, you have to use these. I'll revise this review in a couple weeks and note my progress with the new grippers. Hard work really pays off with these!

I was able to complete it in a few days but I REALLY had to work for it. Best thing for strengthening your hands by far. I'd recommend this. In fact I'm ready to move to the #2!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Necessity I bought the "Trainer" to get started on as I've never done any sort of grip training before. I'm not a weakling by any means, but I do have long spindly fingers and I'm hyper-flexible so not genetically predisposed to having a crushing grip. After following the CoC's grip training protocol for about two weeks my closes went from 6 at the start and a :18 second hold to 24 closes and a :26 second hold. My hands feel so much stronger. I'll be buying a CoC Men's Set next. This is a great product and will definitely translate into your lift totals as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool I have number 1 and 2. Number 1 has become my gripper to use for reps. If I can close the 2 a few reps am having a decent day. If you are of average strength I would start light with the Sport or Trainer and work up to a 1. Most males cannot close a 1. I would love to be able to do a number 3 someday. The grippers are of very high quality and give your hands a true workout.

They have helped me build a Superman grip over the years, and when it comes to muscle fatigue…everything else will fail before my grip does!!! Hanging onto the bar no matter if it is overhead or deadlifting, a strong grip will benefit all areas of your training!
