Concept2 BikeErg

The BikeErg is the latest innovation from the makers of the Concept2 Indoor Rower and SkiErg. Utilizing the same advanced engineering principles and PM5 performance monitor as those time-tested machines, the BikeErg is also lighter in weight than most stationary bikes and closer in feel to actual outdoor riding. The design is built around precision flywheel air resistance, creating a workout customized to any athlete who uses it. As you pedal harder, the intensity and challenge of the workout increases accordingly. At the same time, the inclusion of a clutch lets you freewheel like a standard bicycle, while a wide damper range re-creates the effect of changing gears.

The Concept2 BikeErg is portable, easy to assemble, and designed with an adjustable saddle and handlebars. Users can even decide to attach their own bicycle seat, handlebars or pedals (most styles are compatible) to create the ultimate custom indoor bike.

Rather than a chain, the BikeErg features high-strength, self-tensioning polygroove belts, greatly reducing the sound output and making set-up practical in any room of the house.

Concept 2 Warranty: Frame Parts - Five Year Limited Warranty / All Parts - Two Year Limited Warranty.

What Sets the Concept2 BikeErg Apart:

  • 1PM5 Performance Monitor

Included standard with the unit, the PM5 Performance Monitor offers a wide range of instant data feedback, including pace, watts, cadence (rpm) and calories. These statistics are then saved and stored automatically in the monitor’s memory or an optional USB stick. The PM5 has both Bluetooth and ANT+ wireless options, so you can connect to most wireless heart rate belts, as well as Concept2’s ErgData app and other third party apps. The PM5 takes two D-cell batteries and the power is generated by the flywheel when you ride, saving on battery life.

  • 2Flywheel & Damper

Like the Concept2 Rowers and SkiErg, the BikeErg uses air resistance generated by a fanned flywheel. This makes the machine directly responsive to your own output as you pedal. The inclusion of a special damper also re-creates the effect of shifting gears on a standard bicycle, as the user can alter the amount of air going into the flywheel. By changing settings, you can simulate the experience of a straightaway ride or a challenging uphill climb. The BikeErg is uniquely customizable to the skill sets and preferences of any athlete, regardless of size or experience.

  • 3Quality Construction + Easy Mobility

Few fan bikes can match the BikeErg for precision engineering, durability, and convenient portability. Set-up takes just a matter of minutes, and the unit’s lightweight welded aluminum frame + a set of caster wheels make it uniquely mobile for a so-called “stationary” bike. The use of self-tensioning polygroove belts also greatly reduces the sound output of the bike, making it a viable option for any room in the house.

  • 4Adjustable & Customizable

The BikeErg is designed with an adjustable saddle and handlebars, which can be moved both up-and-down and forward-and-back into a custom, secure setting. Users can even decide to attach their own bicycle seat, handlebars or pedals (most styles are compatible) to create the ultimate custom indoor bike.

  • 5Part of the Concept2 Family of Ergometers

Backed by Concept2’s nearly 40 years as a leading American fitness equipment manufacturer, the BikeErg is a worthy upgrade over an existing stationary bike or a logical addition for a gym already equipped with the popular Concept2 Rower and SkiErg. These machines are all built to last and utilize the same flywheel technology and advanced monitor system to give any athlete an efficient, consistent training experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lives up to the Hype I bought this to use for the Mat Fraser HWPO programming through Hybrid. Much of the work calls for a "spin bike" and I was using the Echo bike for most of it. Not the same. My only complaint is that the handle bar doesn't seem super sturdy in their spot. It wiggles quite a bit and yet the dials are cranked super tight. Also would love supplemental information about how to set the seat and handlebar height - based on your height. I mean - I know how to adjust it, I'm just not sure how much to adjust it for different users.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game Changing Conditioning Bike I bought this bike after using it in my CrossFit gym for 2 months. Due to an injury that required surgery, I was unable to return to CrossFit due to barbell lifting being in a majority of the workouts. I have implemented this bike into my home workouts daily, whether it be short sprints and <50 calorie AMRAMPS, or the longer 60+ minute rides. This bike is hands down my favorite piece of gym equipment and cant wait to continue my endurance through the use of this tool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy I have an assault bike, and was happy with it, but wife hates it. I begrudgingly got it for her, and now love it. I do more cardio now, and people notice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! Closest Thing to Real Bike! I am a keen Mountain Biker but have never liked riding on stationary bikes until this one. It feels like a real bike, position/handles peal feel etc. I have the Concept 2 Rower also and if you have to choose between the rower and the Bike Erg I would go for the Bike Erg. You will simply get more use and value out of it. With the rower I will use for warm up and specific workouts but it can be tough if you are combining with other weightlifting as you don't really want to sit on it for more than a 5k. With the bike erg you can do a long intense cardio work out without having to think about it. You can watch tv etc... You can 'effortlessly' push and exhaust yourself on it (if that makes sense, where has with the rower you really have to be motivated and committed). Also you can customise with clipless pedals and your own saddle. I have one of my old bike saddles on it and its so comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Go-To Cardio Option I have had the C2 rower for 15 years. I love it. Maybe the number one cardio machine, IMO. But I still use the BikeErg at least 3x more often. Why? Yes, it’s well-built and the resistance, since it uses a fan, has a dynamic resistance curve which better mimics riding outside. But it’s main advantage is that it’s not optimized for just HIIT. You don’t have to go psychologically ‘all in’ when you get on the BikeErg (though often you do find yourself pushing the pace once you get going). I put most of my blood, sweat and tears into lifting weights so I am completely fine with my cardio training just being 30-40 minutes on the BikeErg at a solid pace while watching Netflix most of the time. And because of its psychological accessibility and relative comfort, the BikeErg gets a lot of use. I also find it blends well with weight training as it doesn’t tax my recovery as much as rowing which can suck if your lower or upper back muscles are still sore from your last weight workout. Those of you who are younger or fitter or training for CrossFit may find the C2 rower, C2 skier or the Echo fan bike the better option due to the greater baseline intensity. But for me, the BikeErg is my cardio king. One last thing I noticed, the BikeErg has some significant carryover to rowing - at least in my experience - so my rowing capacity is maintained or even improves despite rowing less frequently which was a surprising bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really smokes the quads I purchased two bike ergs to compliment the other concept2 equipment I already have (ski & rower) as well as the echo bike. The bike ergs really do train the quads like no other equipment I have owned. You will immediately feel blood in the quads. I have had a spinner before and the comparison is night and day. Concept2 PM5 is also flexible and allows a variety of training options through companion apps. The only issue I have had is one of the PM5’s is having issues and I most likely need to send it in for servicing. I hate to do that as the bikes are 2 months old but the PM5 is glitchy. Overall the bike Erg is a must have, you won’t regret it.
