Rogue Adjustable Monolift – Monster

The Rogue Adjustable Monolift attachment is a great cost-efficient alternative to expensive, full-scale monolift units, giving athletes a way to perform heavy-weight squats and other lifts without having to walk the bar out from the rack.

Compatible exclusively with Rogue Monster Series rigs and racks (separate Infinity and Monster Lite versions are also available), the fully redesigned Monolift includes a simpler, J-Cup-style pin system for easier height adjustments and quicker transfers from one athlete to the next. We’ve also reduced the overall size of the brackets and added new UHMW plastic liners along the hooks, clasps, and back of the unit to better protect both the barbell and your uprights.

Each Adjustable Monolift set includes a pair of rack-mounted brackets with 0.75" thick steel Jaw hooks. These hooks are designed with special counterweight handles at the top, so when you lift a barbell off the Monolift, the hooks will swing several inches back toward the rack and stay there. This clears up enough extra space to go straight into your workout, and also enables safe re-racking, as the slanted angle of the unloaded hooks makes it easy to guide the bar in, swinging the Monolift back into its original position. A pair of 1” hitch pins is also included in every order to lock the unit into place and prevent any unwanted swinging out.

Height adjustments can be made in increments as small as 1”, and with Rogue’s unique design—featuring a “backstop” bolt above each primary hook bolt—the Monolift cannot move further away from the rack while the user is setting up. This feature is not found on comparable attachments on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast style as per usual I picked this guy up about a month ago, it is totally a "luxury accessory" in that yes you can totally get the job done without it. However, working out alone most days at the home gym, unracking a bar for bench always has to be done perfectly to keep the shoulders safe, with this you are setup in an optimal position to bench without extra worry to the shoulders and you get that lift off. I didn't buy this to prepare for a competition or to be able to increase my max, just wanted something that could help make working out at home a bit safer and extend my lifting days over my life. Is awesome for squats too, but focused on my main reason for purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and effective After almost dumping a loaded bar while coming close to shearing my ankle during a walk-out, I decided to give these a shot and glad I did. I’ve no plans to compete so the walk-out vs mono-lift debate holds no water for me. I want the simplest way from point A to point B and this is it. Had no learning curve with the product and they actually will keep you in check as you approach lockout (IE hitting the swing arm because you’re starting to lean forward too much). Great product, looks better than it performs and it performs flawlessly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All benching problems solved. I don't want to bother explaining just how overbuilt and heavy and phenomenal Rogue Monster products are. Rather I want to address curiosities I had before making my own rack and gear purchase. Be aware that the monolift arms are gigantic, both tall and deep, so in my RM-3 rack (30" of depth between uprights) they come quite close to the opposing uprights. So close, in fact, that if you have the monolift arms installed on one side and J-cups (I have the standard ones) mounted on the other, there will only be a couple inches of separation between them. Keep this in mind if you are also in the market for a rack and have not decided on depth. I use the monolift for benching and the J-cups for squatting. Ideally I would have liked to keep them both set in place on opposite ends of the rack, and never have to move them. However this is not possible with my setup. Because the monolift arms are so tall, even when set low for benching they still come up to the height of the J-cups set for squatting on the opposite side. And as I said, because they come so close to touching as it is, you would not be able to un-rack the bar to squat without immediately backing into the arms. As a result, you will have to move the monolift arms, or take them off the rack entirely, before squatting. This is not a problem, and after all they are adjustable for this purpose (and quite easily so). But if you are looking for the most convenience possible, then you might be better served with a 43" depth rack-- and may be better served saving a few bucks by going with the stationary version instead of this adjustable one. These units come fully assembled. The included instructions say that you can remove a particular bolt from each arm, and I would suggest doing so, as they are just stoppers there to prevent the arms from swinging in their full range of motion. However I much prefer the bigger swing, so I went ahead and took them out. I believe I used a 9/16" socket. As far as the effectiveness of the product is concerned, I had high expectations for its effect on my bench performance. It has exceeded them. Since I lift alone, I have no one to hand off the weight to me. Everyone who benches alone knows that trade-off you have to make: You can either 1) position yourself farther back on the bench so the bar is in a more ideal place over your chest, making it easier on your shoulders to un-rack-- but being so close to the J-cups you are in danger of smacking into them during the bar path of each repetition; Or 2) you can position yourself farther down towards the foot of the bench, compromise your shoulders, waste more energy un-racking (even if you're doing it properly with your lats), and unwind the tension you worked to build in your upper back-- but at least be safely far enough away from the J-cups to not worry about hitting them during your set. I can't tell you how spoiled I feel being able to start with the bar over my sternum. A lift-off truly makes an enormous difference. The biggest impediment to my bench progress, every single time in recent memory I can recall having a bad set, was not from feeling weak or having a bad day, but rather from the stupid practicality of not having a proper start, losing the tension in my back, and feeling wobbly and off-balance as a result, wasting time and energy trying to stabilize at the top instead of descending into the next repetition. (My new Thompson Fat Pad has a lot to do with this as well, which I will be reviewing shortly). Also not to be underestimated is the psychological hindrance, the loss of focus from worrying about your distance from the J-cups, about regaining the tension and posture in your back, etc. When I use the monolift, all of that is taken out of the equation, so the only thing left to focus on is the movement itself, and nothing impedes my ability to press more weight or more repetitions except my own strength.

I was on the fence about buying it, considered it more of a luxury than a necessity and now that I have it, it's become one of my favorite pieces of my home gym. Even if you're not a powerlifter it's benefits extend to safer training. Ive used it for squats, deadlifts, bench presses, to shoulder presses. I haven't been able to do barbell press exercises for years due to labrum tears in both shoulders, I still have to be careful but not having to move the bar to unrack has made a HUGE difference. It's built like a tank and well worth the money. Also, my power rack isn't from Rogue but it's a 3x3 frame with 1" holes and fits perfectly, that being said, it's not a cheaply made power rack either so make sure you're putting them on something sturdy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monolift! Bought the Adjustable Monolift to use with the Rogue Flat Foot Monster Rack (RM-390F). Feels secure with only a slight wobble (from the monolift arms not the rack itself) once weights starts to climb. Build quality is top-notch as expected from anything built by Rogue. Would definitely recommend it.
