George Hackenschmidt vs. Frank Gotch – Iron Game History – June 2010

International wrestling star, George Hackenschmidt, widely know as “The Russian Lion,” met the American champion, Frank Gotch, at Chicago’s Dexter Park Amphitheater on April 3, 1908, in a wrestling title bout that was labeled “The Athletic Contest of the Century” on the cover of the match program. After three preliminary bouts, the much anticipated World’s Heavyweight Wrestling Championships in the catch-as-catch-can style began at approximately 10:30 P.M.
