WESTSIDE SCOUT HYPER
FOLDING REVERSE HYPER MACHINE

"I do hypers before and after I squat or deadlift." - Louie Simmons

The Scout Hyper is a patented, foldable reverse-hyper machine developed by powerlifting legend Louie Simmons and Westside Barbell. This uniquely lightweight and mobile design features hinging legs that lock into place with pop pins and easily fold back for efficient storage after use (the total depth of the unit, when folded, is just 13”).

Louie Simmons created this model with home, work, and light clinical use in mind—with particular benefits for younger athletes or those new to reverse hyper training. The unit comes standard with a durable, round-edge pad (27.5” wide x 21.5” deep x 2” thick) to limit friction against the hips, as well as a nylon webbing hyper strap, two weight posts (5.25” loadable length), a set of spring collars, and 6” long handles. A bolt-on handle extension kit is also available a la carte for users who need to accommodate a shorter distance from the end of the pad to the handles.

The Scout Hyper comes with rubber feet (to provide grip to the floor and help keep the unit level) and a rubber-covered step for safe mounting and dismounting. When a workout is complete, the user simply has to (1) pull out and spin the pop pins to unlock the unit, (2) tip the machine up while pushing on the horizontal rear leg crossmember, and (3) press down on the handles to complete the folding process. Please Note: The unit stands up by itself when folded, but we do recommend either storing it flat on the ground or if storing it upright, doing so against a wall and out of the reach of children.

Please Note: The unit stands up by itself when folded, but we do recommend either storing it flat on the ground or, if storing it upright, to do so against a wall and out of the reach of children.

KEY FEATURES OF THE SCOUT HYPER

1

PATENTED FOLDABLE DESIGN

Whether you train in a small garage gym or a large-scale facility, space efficiency always counts. The Westside Scout Hyper offers storage convenience with its patented groove folding mechanism, collapsing down to a depth of just 13” when stowed. It’s also considerably lighter and more portable than most traditional Reverse Hyper machines, making it easy to move, unfold, and lock-in before each use.

2

UNIQUE TRAINING BENEFITS

Regular use of the Scout Hyper can provide safe traction, pressure/tension relief in the lower back, and strengthening of the posterior chain. “We spend hours sitting or standing at home, work or at school,” Louie Simmons says. “These simple yet everyday occurrences place significant pressure and torsion on our lumbar spine leading to mild or even severe daily discomfort. That's where the Scout steps in. A daily prescription of three to five sets of 15 reps on this machine could be the difference from painful to pain-free lumbar health.”

3

ASSEMBLY & SAFETY

User assembly is required with this unit, but should take less than 30 mins. All required hardware is included. Rubber feet are provided for improved stability, and a rubber covering on the step makes it easier to get on and off of the machine. Please BE CAUTIOUS when folding and unfolding the Scout, and be aware of pinch points. If the red marking on the pop pin shaft is visible then the pin is NOT fully seated. Periodically check that the pop pin and swing-arm bolts are tight on both sides of the machine, as well as the bolt that secures the hyper strap.

*Rogue Fitness warrants that the Westside Scout Hyper shall be free from defect in material and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase when the product is used under normal uses and conditions and as recommended in the User Guide. For full warranty information click here.

Nice piece to have.
This will probably get removed but I want to be honest. I bought this reverse hyper to add to my big collection of Rogue exercise equipment. I have lower back issues so I hope this will help. This piece is sturdy despite its the smallest RH rogue sells. Being able to fold it up is awesome because I have less room now with all my equipment. The only thing I don’t like about this machine are the leg straps. Every time I use it, they fall off my feet and are also difficult to get into. Not one to throw in the towel, I designed and had fabricated a roller attachment. This solved the problem and now this machine is even more awesome!

Really well made and does the job!
I purchased one appx. 2 months ago and have no idea how I did without it. I use it every day and have no more back issues whatsoever. It folds up easily but you will want to leave it ready as you will use it frequently. It helps build up back strength rapidly and with added benefits of more flexible hamstrings, etc. Get one....you will be happy you did. Very solid piece of equipment that is easy to use and has real life benefits.

Best piece of equipment I own!
I was told I needed back surgery 3 years ago. Coupled with regenerate medicine (PRP) treatments and this reverse hyper, my back strength is incredible. Plus you can do so many other exercises with this small reverse hyper.

Awesome space saver
I bought this because of its folding capabilities to open up space in my garage gym. It folds super easy and when folded takes up very little space!

all about the size
I originally wanted to get a full-size reverse hyper but when west side came out with this I knew this is what I needed my training partner weighs close to 300 pounds we don’t really load it up and it rocks a little bit but otherwise it’s fine it was sold out the first couple of times I tried to get it but I’m glad I did

As good as I hoped...
I bought this to help with rehab from jiujitsu. I am only using 60 lbs on it so far, but it is more than stable enough and really helps to open up my back. Need to use it every day though, so I have never tried to fold it up. Easy to assemble and built to Rogue's normal standards. Obviously, less than the higher priced models in the line up, but more than good enough for my use. I am 5'6" and 175lbs though.

Excellent for a smaller space, but small defect
I’ve owned this machine for several months now. I will say this. The machine is a great space saving alternative to a full size reverse hyper, but I would have expected a product coming from rogue (even if only jointly) to do a little better quality control when it came to the design of the weight posts. As mentioned by other users. DO not use rubber weights with this machine as the bolt and nut that holds your leg strap in place will eat through them like butter. As a homemade fix I had to use some additional collars I had as spacers before loading up any plates which also lead me to realize that the weight posts on this machine are smaller that any other 2” Olympic weight posts on any other machine or barbell I currently own… not a huge deal but this does seem weird, and it also means that I can’t interchange collars on this machine. The collars it came with are the only ones that fit on it (note* the collars themselves are an irregular size too as they don’t fit on any of my standard Olympic bars). Again that’s not the end of the world, but just not the kind of quality you expect from a rogue product. It also means the steel collars I had to add as a fix just kind of loosely hang on the machine and tend to spin around with the weights as I’m using it. Trying to find or make some 2” rubber spacers as a more permanent fix. If a factory fix or purchasable upgrade is ever created for this issue I would love to know about it!!
