Concept2 BikeErg

The BikeErg is the latest innovation from the makers of the Concept2 Indoor Rower and SkiErg. Utilizing the same advanced engineering principles and PM5 performance monitor as those time-tested machines, the BikeErg is also lighter in weight than most stationary bikes and closer in feel to actual outdoor riding. The design is built around precision flywheel air resistance, creating a workout customized to any athlete who uses it. As you pedal harder, the intensity and challenge of the workout increases accordingly. At the same time, the inclusion of a clutch lets you freewheel like a standard bicycle, while a wide damper range re-creates the effect of changing gears.

The Concept2 BikeErg is portable, easy to assemble, and designed with an adjustable saddle and handlebars. Users can even decide to attach their own bicycle seat, handlebars or pedals (most styles are compatible) to create the ultimate custom indoor bike.

Rather than a chain, the BikeErg features high-strength, self-tensioning polygroove belts, greatly reducing the sound output and making set-up practical in any room of the house.

Concept 2 Warranty: Frame Parts - Five Year Limited Warranty / All Parts - Two Year Limited Warranty.

What Sets the Concept2 BikeErg Apart:

  • 1PM5 Performance Monitor

Included standard with the unit, the PM5 Performance Monitor offers a wide range of instant data feedback, including pace, watts, cadence (rpm) and calories. These statistics are then saved and stored automatically in the monitor’s memory or an optional USB stick. The PM5 has both Bluetooth and ANT+ wireless options, so you can connect to most wireless heart rate belts, as well as Concept2’s ErgData app and other third party apps. The PM5 takes two D-cell batteries and the power is generated by the flywheel when you ride, saving on battery life.

  • 2Flywheel & Damper

Like the Concept2 Rowers and SkiErg, the BikeErg uses air resistance generated by a fanned flywheel. This makes the machine directly responsive to your own output as you pedal. The inclusion of a special damper also re-creates the effect of shifting gears on a standard bicycle, as the user can alter the amount of air going into the flywheel. By changing settings, you can simulate the experience of a straightaway ride or a challenging uphill climb. The BikeErg is uniquely customizable to the skill sets and preferences of any athlete, regardless of size or experience.

  • 3Quality Construction + Easy Mobility

Few fan bikes can match the BikeErg for precision engineering, durability, and convenient portability. Set-up takes just a matter of minutes, and the unit’s lightweight welded aluminum frame + a set of caster wheels make it uniquely mobile for a so-called “stationary” bike. The use of self-tensioning polygroove belts also greatly reduces the sound output of the bike, making it a viable option for any room in the house.

  • 4Adjustable & Customizable

The BikeErg is designed with an adjustable saddle and handlebars, which can be moved both up-and-down and forward-and-back into a custom, secure setting. Users can even decide to attach their own bicycle seat, handlebars or pedals (most styles are compatible) to create the ultimate custom indoor bike.

  • 5Part of the Concept2 Family of Ergometers

Backed by Concept2’s nearly 40 years as a leading American fitness equipment manufacturer, the BikeErg is a worthy upgrade over an existing stationary bike or a logical addition for a gym already equipped with the popular Concept2 Rower and SkiErg. These machines are all built to last and utilize the same flywheel technology and advanced monitor system to give any athlete an efficient, consistent training experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Concept 2 Quality and Function Lots of stationary bikes out there to choose from but I went with the BikeErg as I already own a Concept2 Rowing Machine. I couldn't be happier. World of difference between this machine and the many others I have used in commercial gyms. It's an awesome piece of equipment and worth the price. Only negative comment would be that I had to change the seat to something that was a little more comfortable. I ride 18 miles 4 days a week, the standard seat makes things a little sore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this bike....so will you! I bought this bike mainly for my wife. I have the Rogue Echo Bike, which I really love but my wife does like to use it as she finds it an it hard for her. So I watched many online YouTube reviews and read all the Concept 2 Bikerg reviews and decided to pull the plug and get it. My wife loves this bike and so do I. I still use the Eco bike more often but on days where I just want a smooth, lower body burn of my legs the Concept 2 Bikeerg does the job. Here’s what I like about it: o. It is a very smooth and comfortable bike. o. The seat, bike handles are all adjustable giving you just the right fit. o It is lightweight with wheels so that you can move it around easily - which helps us in our garage gym. Yet with its light weight it is very sturdy with no shaking as you peddle. o. The PM5 monitor is great and matches the Concept 2 rower that we have so into makes it easier to have the same familiarly with these devices - and with a blue tooth setup it syncs to your phone so you can then store your workouts online on an app that Concept 2 has for their equipment. o. The smoothness when you peddle is great - the belt driven flywheel that uses air resistance just like the rower is enjoyable to use. You can add resistance or lower by moving the damper up or down. But honesty I had the damper on 2-3 and looked down after 20-30 mins at puddle of sweat. There are tons of bikes on the market some much cheaper and some more more expensive so why did I pick this one? I wanted a bike that would last for years and years backed by a company known for its other quality equipment and since I had the Concept 2 rower in my garage for the last 7-8 yrs with no issues, getting the Bikeerg was a no brainer. On top ignored that did I already mention how much my wife loves this bike!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great conditioning tool I haven't ridden a bike in years but love the workout I get on this. It's way more difficult than I expected but I see progress every day. Honestly the seat is really uncomfortable and I get a little numb from longer rides but it's bearable. Quality is what is expected from concept 2. Originally I ordered from Amazon because of two day shipping, they lost it and it took 2 days just to figure that out. I knew I should have order from Rogue in the first place, had it in like 2 days anyways. Thanks Rogue!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing bike! I use the bikeerg to replace running during the harsh Canadian winter. The seat is comfortable, even after 45 minutes on the bike. The pedals are not spaced too far apart so you don’t have the rocking side to side effect. The PM5 computer is easy to use and the blue tooth feature allows me to use apps while ridding. Assembly was very easy but delivery to Canada was extremely long. Great bike, looking forward to using it every morning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Back in the saddle again!!! I road raced for many years and at times put more training miles on my bike in a year than my dad on his car. Living in the northeast meant many of those miles during winter months were on a trainer or rollers. Once life kicked into high gear, kids arrived, career evolved, etc., I stopped riding altogether and started doing other things that took less time to stay fit. About a year and half ago I purchased a Concept2 Erg and quickly started piling on the meters. Unfortunately, I recently started experiencing back problems and did not feel comfortable continuing to use the Erg so I sold it and purchased the BikeERG. I’ve had it for less than two months and have to say that overall I’m extremely pleased with it. I don’t have anything else to compare it to other than what I remember from riding on indoor trainers as mentioned above. The good: 1) Excellent packaging to mitigate the risk of damage in shipping. 2) Ease of assembly. 3) Top notch quality construction, fit and finish. It feels like it can support the weigh of my truck resting on it. Even the welds are a perfect bead. 4) Very sturdy. When riding, no matter how hard, whether in or out of the saddle, there is no creaking or flexing. 5) Adjustability. I dug up my old bike fit records and was able to dial-in saddle and stem high, as well a reach. You can even add your favorite bars, saddle or a set of clip on pedals, which I did (Shimano PDEH500 & shoes) and highly recommend. 6) Super smooth road like feel while riding. 7) Love that the PM5 lets me track cadence plus power output (Watts). 8) Ability to specify and store interval workouts on the PM5 9) Plenty of resistance from the fan unit. I was a little concerned about this one but quickly changed my mind after trying to keep my cadence at 90-95 rpm with the damper opening set at 3. 10) Like all other Concept2 product the online logbook. Opportunities: 1) Reaching for the damper adjustment lever reminds me of down-tube shifters except that it is a much further reach. 2) What makes the above a bit more difficult is the fact that you can’t really see the damper setting clearly while riding. Having detents to let you know how many clicks you’re moving or duplicating the numbers on the top of the Flywheel housing would be awesome. 3) It would be fantastic if the PM5 code on the BikeERG would give you the option to switch from meters to miles. 4) Having the ability to adjust the fore and aft position of the saddle is great but the ability to adjust the angle so it could be tipped up or down would round off adjustability very nicely. 5) This last one is more of an awareness point and that is, it gets loud, but if you’ve ever used the Erg you know that already. Thanks for reading. Hope you found this helpful and thank you Rogue for always stocking top notch products and Concept2 for building them. Rod

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A sufference machine Happy with the whole machine A bottle can stand easily on top of the "top tube" even at high cadence/ wattage The saddle also works well, no numb or pain I would have loved a "how to train" guide. something to explain how to correctly setup resistence and train more than anything. Plenty on youtube for sure, but which one to rely on? The build-instructions are not so intuitive, they make the task more cumbersome, in particular the first page
