This version of the GR1 pack is manufactured in the USA utilizing only the best materials, including durable 1000D CORDURA and YKK zippers with silent pulls. Each rucksack requires 4 hours to hand-build and is strength tested at over 400 LBS.

The American-made GR1 is currently available here in the 21L or 26L size, and comes with a bombproof laptop compartment, MOLLE compatibility, extra-padded straps, multiple small accessory pockets, open-flat versatility, and 2x3” Velcro for adding a patch.

Key Features of the GR-1 Rucksack

  • 1Optimized for Rucking and/or Everyday Use

While the GR1 is functionally equipped to use as a standard gym bag, travel carry-on, or work/school backpack, its origins comes from Special Forces training; specifically rucking. A standard bodyweight training exercise on military bases for years, rucking has now become a familiar event at major CrossFit competitions and a staple of strength training for leading college and pro athletic programs. In a ruck march or loaded march, athletes walk or run carrying a custom-weighted rucksack; challenging major muscle groups in the legs and back and promoting greater overall endurance.

  • 2Built to Last

The GR1 is a military-caliber rucksack, manufactured from durable, abrasion-resistant 1000D Cordura with silent YKK zippers made from parachute 550 cord. A removable hard plastic frame sheet supports the integrity of the pack as you weigh it down, and a rain proof exterior + bomb-proof laptop compartment + false bottom design ensure your most valuable cargo stays safe. Finally, GORUCK’s extra-padded straps and top handle help prevent discomfort / friction and keep you moving freely, longer.

  • 3Load It Up

With its laptop compartment, 3 internal pockets, and 1 external slant pocket, the GR1 offers versatile storage for everyday items, while also working great with loadable rucking weights like Rogue’s Brick Bags. For athletes interested in adding even more customization beyond the weight load itself, the GR1’s external MOLLE webbing and 2x3” velcro patch create endless options, including the attachment of any of our Rogue Velcro Patches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It I bought it as an edc and laptop bag. I travel a lot for my job and spend a lot of time ticking through airports. Great quality and lots of useful add ons. I have the water bottle holder for my coffee cup and the side pouch for stuff I need to get to without taking it off. The sternum strap was a great addition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Don't let the Simplicity Fool You PROs: Strong, Durable, Simple, Comfortable, SCARs program CONs: Price (compared to other available rucks in the market) I held off from buying the GR1 for years, primarily due to the price. I'm a bit of a ruck addict and have used a variety of packs over the years both in and out of the military. What struck me first is the quality - it feels solid. Everything about it breaths strength. I've been abusing this bag since I got it and it shows no signs of wear. And even if it does, GoRuck's SCARS program has me covered. Despite the very simple design, compared to other "tactical" rucks, the GR1 sits comfortably with a light or heavy load. It has plenty of room and serves as a great 3-day bag for rucking or traveling. If you are a serious rucker or someone who travels frequently, this is a sturdy, low-key bag that will probably live longer than you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality and design Pros: Excellent quality, comfortable, main compartment opens all the way, not many but well laid out internal pockets, very good protection for laptop. Stands up when placed on floor. As good as I hoped when I ordered after reading all those reviews. Cons: Heavy, but that’s not a criticism - more a result from being that well built.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing backpack Bought this backpack a month ago, for an EDC/gym bag/weekender usage and I’m very happy with it. Yes it’s pricey, but the look and feel is amazing. I use to have more pockets in my bag so it took some time to get use to it, but now I feel much better for my commute and travel, especially thanks to the « high-profile » limiting the depth of the pack, and so the struggle during crowded commuting. It takes some time to break it in, but it feels like it will last forever.
