Hybrid Stone Molds
Black

Developed by Rob Orlando at Hybrid Athletics in Connecticut, Hybrid Stone Molds have been trusted by Strongman athletes for the better part of a decade as a way to produce their own custom-sized Atlas Stones, be it for personal use or as complete sets for multiple athletes in a larger facility.

Unless you lived down the street from an Atlas Stone manufacturer, acquiring these implements in the past generally meant taking on astronomical shipping costs or working out a complicated pick-up. These durable, relatively lightweight plastic molds solve this issue while still enabling a wide range of training options. Molds can be purchased from as small as 10” in diameter (approx. 35 LBS) to as large as 19” (300 LBS), and setting the stones is quite simple.

Each Hybrid Stone Mold divides into two hemispheres. To create an Atlas Stone, start by opening and cleaning the inside of each hemisphere with a lubricant, then re-connect the halves securely via zip ties and position the sphere on a stable base (such as a turned over tire). Create your concrete mix + water at the desired weight corresponding to the mold, then add the mix to the mold, ensuring that the entire mold is filled.

After three days, you can use a tap stick to wedge off the hemispheres and reveal the Atlas Stone, which will also include a Hybrid “H” logo. Any unwanted edges can be smoothed over with sandpaper to complete the process.

Available Stone Mold Sizes

Please Note: Weights listed for each stone mold size are estimates. This can vary due to variation in concrete and the process used to make the stone.

Love the small size increments
Gets the job done. Nice that the plastic is not brittle. Could use some additional holes to hold the halve’s seam tighter.

Awesome Atlas Stone mold
I have not used it yet, but it's definitely well designed and am looking forward to making my first atlas stone when the weather warms up. I also ordered the funnel recently to help fill the mold, and I can tell that it will make the whole process a lot easier.

disappointed
Pretty disappointed at this point, I own 5 Hybrid molds and 6 Slater molds and been making stones for the last 6 years. While the molds do go together easily, clean easily and produce a nice stone the plastic mold is very fragile. I've used the 17'' twice and the lip cracked and the 19'' 4 times and the same thing happened and have only owned them a little over a year. For a product designed to hold concrete they should hold up better, the most disappointing part is Rogue not willing to do anything about it or stand behind the product they sell yet they have raised the price on these about 50% !

Easy to use
I've made a couple dozen stones from 10"-19" hybrid molds and decided to buy my own molds (17" and 18") People's major concerns are: 1) The seam. I use zip ties and I don't lubricate the seam and I hardly lose any water. Just be mindful of your concrete consistency. 2) Flat spot on top. Not really a concern at all, just overfill the mold and grind the excess. I love Hybrid molds because I can fill the bottom half before attaching the top and this saves me a fair amount of time as opposed to filling entirely from the fill hole.

Disappointed
I purchased x 5 atlas stone moulds and questioned the freight cost when it was extremely high. I received the moulds and they each came in their own cardboard box. The 5 moulds could have fitted into just 1 box. I asked the question again but I was just told there was no other way to do it. Not happy paying $400 freight when it could have only been $80

First stone and love it
Ordered this Hybrid stone and it was so simple to make. Used a laundry detergent bottle (cut to scoop the concrete) to fill the stone. Sprayed the mold, zip tied it together, filled it, let it sit and it came out very well. Used a large plastic trash bag to catch any substance that came out of the seams. Not much at all came out because of the consistency of the mix. No finishing it or smoothing it out for me as it's not too rough. My son, other college athletes and myself have all used the stones numerous times for loading and not one problem with it at all. Great customer service from Rogue and speedy shipping as well. Will definitely order again.
