How It’s Built

From the 190,000 PSI steel to the distinctive dual knurl marks and four separate coating options, every detail of the Ohio Bar is held to the absolute highest standard—as you can see in the step-by-step process below.

  • 1New 190,000 PSI Steel

This steel is manufactured in the US and has proven to be one of the best steel variants for a multi-purpose barbell.

Each barbell shaft is ground and polished prior to machining which allows the bar to have a very smooth finish post any black oxide, zinc or chrome finish.

  • 2Machining

Every bar shaft is machined in Columbus, Ohio. A great deal of pride is built into each bar as the knurling process is an art. We spent months working on the knurl we believe to be the best for the Ohio Bar.

To test the knurl it is more a beer tasting process than exact measurement. There is a look and feel that go into testing every bar.

  • 3Fit and Finish

The Ohio Bar is available with 4 different finishes. Each finish offers a different level of oxidization protection and has a direct effect on the feel of the knurl.

Black Oxide is a mild oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment will still require some maintenance but will give the best knurl feel, more like a naked bar.

Bright Zinc and Black Zinc is a medium oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment requires minimal maintenance and is used on The Rogue and Bella Bars.

Stainless Steel is a bar with no plating, so the knurl on the Stainless Steel Ohio Bar is left exactly how we machined it, providing a great feel that cannot be achieved with other finishes. It’s similar to the knurl feel from a bare steel shaft, but with better corrosion resistance.

  • 4Assembly

The Ohio Bar is assembled with bronze bushings which act as bearing surfaces between the bar sleeve and bar shaft. This is a very robust way of building a barbell.

Each bar will come with an Ohio Bar card that has the initials of the Rogue team member that built the bar.

  • 5Performance

This bar will have normal “whip” during Olympic weightlifting and enough stiffness to hold for heavy powerlifting. The steel in this bar is proven as an excellent choice for weightlifters.

  • 6Fast Rogue Shipping

Rogue prides itself on fast, professional shipping. If your bar is ordered by 3PM EST Monday-Friday, it will ship same day. Your bar will be packaged safely and ship fast. You can follow the progress of your order using the Rogue Shipping Tracker.

Each Rogue Ohio Bar is machined and assembled in Columbus, Ohio, and includes a lifetime guarantee against bending*.

Whichever coating you choose, Rogue has provided some helpful tips for long term Bar Care & Maintenance.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Bought a red cerakote bar that was used at the games. I spent the last few years training on non-rouge bars and I cant believe how much of an upgrade it is, the coating of the bar feels great in my hands (better than other rouge bars, but maybe its just in my head), and it spins well, I love it. The only negative I've noticed is that the front of my shorts turned red after a high volume/heavy clean day (first day I got it). 99% of the red came out after washing- its not really noticeable to anyone but me, but its still annoying. Hopefully this is just because the bar is still pretty new, but Id recommend wearing black/dark shorts when using it just in case... that said the red is awesome and Id buy another without thinking twice about it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bar! I started my garage gym with the beater bar a couple years ago and it has served me well. Recently I decided to upgrade to the cerakote Ohio Bar. Ive been hesitant to buy a new bar for some time now, but I am so glad I made the move. I received my bar today in excellent condition and it was shipped to me much faster then i expected. I unwrapped it and did the main site wod today which was 30 snatches for time. I am in love with this bar, it feels amazing in my hands, spins great, and the knurl is just absolutely perfect. I buy all my garage gym equipment from rogue and will continue to for a long time. The quality and customer service is just unmatched and I`ve never been disappointed. I know that this bar will serve me for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally worth it I've been using this bar for two months with zero buyers remorse. When you first wrap your hand around the perfect knurling you know it was worth every penny. Divide the cost of this by the rest of your life and it's nothing and you get everything in return. Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite everything bar Spin is pretty good for bushings. Whip is good for a GP bar. Finish is beautiful. No appreciable slop in the collars. The knurl is pretty fine, but extremely grippy without being too aggressive. I can use this bar all day long without losing my grip, or having my hands made into burger meat. The collars are nice and long with a perfect diameter for all my plates. Fits competition plates like it was made to do the job, and keeps them there with a gentle ribbing along the collar length without sounding like a chainsaw when I load the bar. For the price, this is a really fantastic piece of equipment. Very responsive with any weight; feels lively from a pair of 45's to a ten-pack. For really technical deadlifts, or really super heavy squats, this may not not your bar. For everything else under 500 pounds, this is the only one you'll ever need. Buy this now or quit lifting. ;)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cerakote Ohio Bar Just received this bar yesterday and used it for the first time tonight. As always, the shipping experience with Rogue was great and I received the bar in a few days. I purchased the red and black cerakote coated bar and it looks great. My wife never pays attention to my gear but even she commented on it. I did deadlifts, standing overhead press, front squats, curls, and this worked flawlessly for my purposes. I will note I am used to the knurl detail on the Ohio Power bar and this bar is far less aggressive, which is good and bad depending on the application. I never use chalk or straps and will likely need to when I get up past 405lbs on deadlift. I also noticed with my rogue training bumpers the sleeves are already showing a few signs of minimal wear but nothing that would be a show stopper. All in all this is an impressive bar and I am very excited to use it more.
