Hafthor Bjornsson

Better known to many as “Thor” or “The Mountain,” Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson has long been one of the biggest stars on the international Strongman circuit. Starting in 2018, however, he truly entered the conversation with the all-time greats, winning his first World’s Strongest Man title (the first Icelandic champion since his mentor Magnus ver Magnusson) and three consecutive Arnold Strongman Classics (2018-2020). In May of 2020, he also set a new World Record with a 501 KG (1,104LB) deadlift, a feat watched by millions online and reported in hundreds of news outlets around the globe.

Once a standout basketball player during his younger days in Reykjavik, Bjornsson took up Strongman at age 20 and won his first “Iceland's Strongest Man” a few years later; a title he would successfully claim for TEN consecutive years. On the world stage, Bjornsson notched 8 podium finishes at the WSM and 4 at the Arnold; to go along with 5 “Europe’s Strongest Man” titles.

Always eager to take on new challenges, Thor saw his popularity transcend sports entirely in 2014, when he began portraying “The Mountain” in a certain popular HBO dragon show. At 6’9” and 400 pounds, other unique acting opportunities came his way after. It was only after reaching the peak of his sport in 2020, though, that Bjornsson finally stepped away from the Strongman ranks, taking the time to rebuild his body, train as an amateur boxer, and welcome a new son with his wife Kelsey.

In 2022, after two years away from Strongman, Bjornsson appeared at the Rogue Invitational in Texas, where he participated in the Rogue Record Breakers and bested his own mark in the 56LB Weight Over Bar. Afterward, he left the door open to a return to the sport in the future.

Rogue’s Signature Series features several exclusive Hafthor Bjornsson products, including the THOR Edition Power Bar and a line of apparel.
