0 pain hip thrusting with 3 plates loaded up. Thanks Rogue

I’ve been lifting for over 5 years and this pad IS NOT SAFE. I can lift much better with a yoga mat and have more protection than with this pad. I have tried to email my concerns and they said it’s normal to feel some pressure. Again, I’ve been lifting for over 5 years and I know what a hip thrust feels like and I’m telling you that a yoga mat protect my hip bones MUCH BETTER than this pad. It’s a total rip off. Unless, of course, you lift super light. It hurt my hip bones at 180lbs and I had to get my good old yoga mat to fold it down to progress my weight. It’s a shame, I was excited for this product but it just doesn’t not work.

This pad works great for protecting me during hip thrusts!

The simple yet intelligent construction of this pad works perfectly to both cushion your body from the bar and hold the bar in the desired position across your hips.

The hard plastic insert on the top makes this the best I have tried for hip thrusts BUT there is an annoying tendency for the bar to roll off this pad while getting setup. If the pad was wider by several inches then this would not be a hassle. I think you should make a larger size.

It's hard to tell from the photos what this product actually looks like and you obviously can't tell what it would feel like. I initially assumed this looked almost like a sandbag but it's far from that. I mainly purchased this HTP because I wanted an easy to use pad for barbell hip thrusts that doesn't require velcro, straps, or any extra effort in set up. For this requirement, it is fine and I can do the exercise. It should be used with the Rogue logo facing up since there's a layer of hard plastic on that side, which is key. However for $50, my main criticism is that I would have expected a better fit. This item is essentially a layer of foam padding and a layer of a thin, harder material (plastic sheet?) on top that both flex well so that your bar will get enveloped by the pad. I think I'd have preferred if the outer canvas/nylon wrapping would actually be sized to fit tighter with the inner foam padding. There is like a good 1/2 to 1 inch of excess wrapping around the pad (like an oversized pillow case) that feels less than premium and loose.

I purchased this recently and tried it out but was very disappointed. The mat is to slippery that my Ohio bar just moves all over the place, not safe! I would just buy a piece of foam from a craft shop. I do not reccomend this product. I can still use it as a kneeling pad.
