Back Widow

The patent-pending Back Widow, by Flex Wheeler, is the gym version of a Swiss Army Knife, potentially replacing more than a dozen separate handle attachments and accessories with a single, all-in-one alternative. Users can quickly adjust the Back Widow into more than 15 different grip positions without having to remove the attachment, making it uniquely equipped for high traffic gyms or more time-efficient individual workouts.

As the name suggests, the Back Widow is designed, first and foremost, as a back blaster, with easy set-ups for high/mid/low range cable pulls and T-bar rows. The same device works equally well as a cable attachment for biceps and triceps work; as a pull-up bar attachment for neutral grip pull-ups; or as a dumbbell attachment for dumbbell rows. Many users even adopt the Back Widow as their primary bar-jack: the moving parts are all at a 16,000 LB sheer test, so no weight load threatens the Widow's overall structural integrity.

KEY FEATURES OF THE BACK WIDOW REPLACEMENT BAR

Versatility

One adjustable and collapsible Back Widow can do the job of a dozen clunky cable handles, saving your gym on both costs and storage space. Weighing just under 10 LBS and offering more than 15 grip positions, this unique back blasting attachment can be used for high lat pulls, seated rows, T-bar rows, neutral grip pull-ups, bicep and tricep cable work, and much more. The moving parts of the Back Widow are all at a 16,000 LB sheer test, so stability and durability are never a concern, regardless of the weight load.

Quick Adjustments

Versatility goes a lot further when it comes with convenience and efficiency. The Back Widow’s adjustments can be made without having to remove the attachment; a major innovation that allows multiple athletes to quickly customize their workout without throwing a training partner off their game. In a smaller home gym, it also allows individual athletes to add more variety to a training regimen without wasting time looking for a different attachment or having to take down and set-up a new handle.

Not as durable as it looks
Not as well built as one might think. I had the product for about 3 years now and was very impressed with it. I haven't used the product consistently over the 3 years, and have recently gotten back into the gym. I stored this product away and was very excited to bring it back out. Recently I was doing a cable pull down with about 180 pounds and noticed afterwards the handles were not locking into place. I come to find that the item had a catastrophic failure and one of the sides had the metal completely rip away due to pressure from the pin. I then noticed that the same fracture was on the other handle. I have not tightened the nuts and have not neglected the product in any way and that's why I was surprised to see these stress fractures. I also wonder about the safety of this product should the metal have been stripped away and the back widow come crashing down on my head. Either way the live chat was not very supportive so I will have to reach out to the back widow website to see what the solution might be. Ill update once progress has been made. Ill also add photos of the issue.

Versatile tool. Neutral grip saves your shoulders so I try to do neutral grip on everything and this allows me to do different width when doing cable rows and pull downs

Black widow lat attachment
I was pretty disappointed in Roguw on this purchase. I be spent thousands at rogue and decided to purchase the black widow lay bar attachment. It arrived damaged with chips in the powder coating showing bare metal. I reached out to rogue and they offered a replacement or $50 off. It was ok on their part but I expected a little more. It was a $330 part and $50 seemed very stingy. Considering the part is heavy and they would have to pay to return mine and send another. And I really didn’t want to have to deal with the hassle of the return. I feel a $100 discount would have been more appropriate for such an expensive attachment

Excellent Utility with Two Flaws
Pros: 1) High-quality construction (solid) 2) Tremendous versatility (lot of adjustments and saves space) Cons: 1) Built so heavy that it's difficult and, at times, quite awkward to adjust. (Maybe it's just stiffer when it's new.) 2) The piece is so large (even in its smallest/most narrow configuration (see attached photos) that it makes it VERY difficult if not impossible to achieve a full range of motion in a lat pulldown or low row if your arms are average to long. In other words, add another 13-14" from the very end of the carabiner to your hands and it essentially forces you to lean back significantly when performing lat pulldowns thus inhibiting a full stretch at the end range of motion. Overall, this piece is expensive but provides value considering you won't have to buy 3-5 additional attachments. However, there may be some growing pains with some users. I'll also likely need to purchase an alternative narrow grip v-handle for close-grip lat work because this piece is just too long. I'll continue to use it for other functions (wide-grip lat work, landmine, single-arm rows, triceps, curls, and deadlift jack).
