Just right for the Concept 2 (Model D)
I keep my rower in my garage; also where I do my workouts. We just had our first snow here in NY, and the mat protects the feet of the rower from the melting run-off from the cars when they back into the garage. Depending on where you keep your rower (a clean spare bedroom or a dusty basement), you may (not) need this mat. Either way, the mat is a very durable rubber that definitely serves its purpose to keep the rower from shimmying around while working out on it. The mat is also pretty heavy when it arrives in the box (nothing flimsy about this mat).

No smell. Doesn't slide.
I was worried there would be a heavy plastic smell or other off gassing that would distract me from my workout. Not much of any noticeable smell. Make sure the rubber feet on your Concept2 don't have any residual factory oil from the molding machine. Mine had a little so I wiped them down with a little hot soapy water. After that the feet stick to the mat and don't slide.

Keeps the sweat from dripping on my floor
Not that I sweat. My abs are overdeveloped from rowing. My row abs looks like and work a lot like the cooling fins on an oversize industrial transformer. The air fan on the C2 blows and the abs radiate heat. Never any sweat.
But it's nice to have the insurance.
