KEY FEATURES OF THE LAT PULLDOWN SEAT

MADE IN THE USA, FULLY ASSEMBLED
1

MADE IN THE USA, FULLY ASSEMBLED

This is the same American-made seat + leg roller assembly we developed for our complete Monster Lat Pulldown Machine, and it’s now available here a la carte, fully assembled. The 42.5 LB seat features a combination of 1/4" steel, 2.25" x 2.25" telespar, 2" x 2" 11-gauge, and 1" solid round steel with laser-cut Rogue branding and UHMW plastic to protect the finish of your uprights.

EASY SET-UP AND ADJUSTMENTS
2

EASY SET-UP AND ADJUSTMENTS

The Monster Lat Pulldown Seat comes with two 1” detent pins for secure attachment to a Monster upright. The attached leg roller pads have six adjustable settings, spaced 1” on-center.

COMFORT AND VERSATILITY
3

COMFORT AND VERSATILITY

The foam portion of the seat measures 16" x 6" x 2.25" and offers firm support and comfort. The unit is also designed for convenient use with the optional Low Row Kit, which mounts directly to the seat using a 5/8” detent pin for greater stability.

KEY FEATURES OF THE LOW ROW KIT

CROSSMEMBER FOOT ASSEMBLY
1

CROSSMEMBER FOOT ASSEMBLY

This portion of the Low Row Kit is made from 3x3 11-gauge steel, with standard 1” Monster holes and a .25” steel formed channel with a protective plastic lining. The Crossmember Foot Assembly attaches to the rack/rig via the included 1” detent pin, and extends approximately 29.5" off of the mounting upright when installed. It can be attached directly to the Lat Pulldown Seat using the 5/8” detent pin, with two welded tabs at the top of the assembly helping to further stabilize the unit during low row exercises. Each foot assembly is finished in MG Black.

Please Note: The Crossmember Foot should extend out to around the edge of the Lat Pulldown Seat. This should allow for as little interference with the seat as possible, while still maintaining optimal functionality and space efficiency.

CABLE/PULLEY
2

CABLE/PULLEY

The Low Row Kit’s durable cable pulley and roller can be attached directly to the Lat Pulldown Seat using the included hardware. The 82" cable connects to the rack’s existing Slinger set-up, and can be quickly disconnected when needed, enabling the athlete to switch between the Lat Pulldown Seat and Low Row Kit without having to remove either assembly from the rack. Any sort of low row can be performed using the pulley, and a variety of curl and high pull exercises can be performed by pulling the cable out further and using the roller attached to the end of the Lat Pulldown Seat.

PLATE FOOT REST
3

PLATE FOOT REST

The included Formed Tread Plate Foot Rest can be attached to the Crossmember Foot Assembly using 1/2" x 4" carriage bolts and 1/2" lock nuts. It is made from 1/4" tread plate with a texture black finish, and the dimensions of the formed portion are 18.5” wide x 7.5” tall. When the tread plate is attached to the crossmember foot, the total combined weight of the two is 30 LBS.

Solid Seat & Low-Pull Attachment with Minor Issues
This review is for the Lat Seat + the Low-Pull Attachment and Footplates. First, a comment on the build quality: like most Rogue products these pieces of equipment are well-constructed and durable especially the seat base that doubles to house the pulley wheel and the footplate. For the seat portion, prior users commented on the wobble of the seat when you are engaged in movements, but I find that much less noticeable when you adjust the height to your comfort level rather than Rogue's guidelines. Doing so eliminates the push from your legs on the knee pads. On that point of seat height, note that with the low-pull attachment and footplate, Rogue recommends the seat be dropped almost as far down as the beam (a pin fastens the seat to the bottom extension beam). This is simply not practical for almost any user over 5'5" and maybe just not practical at all since it's far too low for proper leverage. Again, adjust the seat to your comfort, so you can do the pulldown movement correctly. You can do pulldowns and back rows without affixing the seat to the lower extension beam, so it just seems like a poor design choice in this case. I do understand the desire to anchor the seat, but it just doesn't make sense to do that at the expense of correct form, so I knocked the rating down one star. Some other minor quibbles on what is overall a good product when used in conjunction with the Slinger: 1. the seat might be a little too narrow for some users; 2. the low extension beam is a bit long and comes out just at the base of the seat, so you have to be aware of the footplates at all times so you don't trip when walking or even standing up from the seat; Rogue could have rectified this by either making the footplates a little less wide or foldable on a hinge, or figuring out how to tuck the whole extension beam and plates under the seat. As is, I do recommend this set of lat seat and low-pulley attachment with footplates. Just bear in mind, not many users will be able to drop the seat down to the low extension beam to fasten it with a pin. But, in my experience, you don't need to.

I had higher expectations
I bought this to complement my new Rogue Monster slinger, hoping to turn my rack into a fully functioning pulldown/row set up. Functionally it should work well but there’s a number of issues with it which I’m surprised Rogue let through QA during design. 1. The seat feels quite loose when sat on it, all bolts are tight and also the hitch pins in place. It still rocks when using it as a pulldown set up. 2. The roller on the underside of the seat is either too far back or undersized and the cable rubs into the seat, splitting the material (see photo). You have to stand further back and at an angle to ensure this doesn’t happen. Overall, I’m not sure it’s worth the money I’m afraid. It’s probably better to buy the small add-on roller attachment but that won’t help with keeping you fixed in place for pulldowns.

Response from Rogue Fitness:

Thank you for your feedback on the Rack Mount Lat Pulldown Seat + Low Row Kit. As this seat is not bolted or welded to the rack it's being used on, we can expect there to be slight movement from the detent pins. This allows for easy on and off mobility. For movements that require the cable and attachment to be vertical, the Slinger Solo Pulley is a great option: https://www.roguefitness.com/monster-slinger-solo-pulley-attachment

Wish I Could Review Separately
My review is pretty much a copy of the one below. The cable is not long enough and makes it hard to get attachments on. I have sent multiple videos' and had conversations with rougue about this. The way this is set up is not functional at all. I will be returning the lower part of the set up. I trust in time rougue will fix this problem. The cable is just about 3 inches to short. You would have to wedge attachments in there and it is not user friendly at all. Seat is sturdy and well put together, just poor execution on the lower pulley system.

Wish I could review these separately
First let me start by saying I wish there was a way to review the seat and the low-row kit separately. TLDR: The seat, while it has its issues, is well built and worth the investment. The low row kit is poorly thought out and needs to be re-engineered. If I could give the seat itself 4 stars I would. The seat itself moves a little while doing pulldown reps. Slightly distracting, but it does not effect my form or ability to lift. Would have been nice if the tolerance for the fit on the rack was tighter, but then I would probably be complaining on how difficult it was to mount. Only other issue is the roller under the seat used when doing things like cable curls is not great. It works, but it feels cheaply built. The seat is absolutely worth it if you have a slinger attachment and as I pointed out in my review of the slinger, it feels almost mandatory to get this if you want to get your moneys worth out of the slinger kit itself. The low row kit is something I regret buying. The cable extension to use it just is not long enough. Someone else already posted pictures in this review section so I wont bother. If you are trying to do seated rows the triangle grip is going to sit wedged between the bottom of the seat and the top of the foot plate. Maybe...maybe you can safely grab the grip with 250lbs of resistance on the cable. There is no way you can safely release your grip when at muscle failure. I even contacted Rogue because I assumed I had put the thing together wrong. Nope, was told that's working as intended. The cable is just not long enough. To the point its even a pain to use the seat for cable curls. You have to bend down at an awkward angle and reach under the seat and pull straight towards your feet a foot and a half before you can stand. It's awkward at best, dangerous at worst. Now, yes you can purchase an aftermarket cable at the length desired. That's actually something Rogue told me not to do. Legal probably told them they had to, but I still found it funny. I have yet to get around to purchasing said cable. Mostly out of spite at this point.

Overall good product with minor issues
First of all I’m glad I purchased and overall like the product. My issue is with the cable length provided. As pictured, the end of the cable doesn’t extend to the footplate. When doing rows with the Rogue triangle grip, it doesn’t allow me to let the weight off by letting it retract straight in. I have to shift the grip and cable over my foot and off to the side. I asked Rogue if they had a small cable extension, but they say this is the correct length and how it is designed. Not an issue with light weight, but I don’t want to let the seat hold heavier weights while I adjust my position to let it off to the side. Guess I’ll be adding my own extension or using a different grip.
