Outdoorsmans Atlas Trainer

As an alternative to standard rucksack training with rocks or sandbags, the Atlas Trainer from Outdoorsman features a 7LB pack frame with a purpose-built attachment designed for carrying standard Olympic weight plates. Capable of holding up to 90 LBS, this system provides athletes with an intense leg training tool that’s comfortable to wear, easy to load, and less brutal on the hips and knees.

The frame is made from a durable, proprietary polycarbonate blend material with a 500D Cordura belt + harness and a billet machined aluminum plate-holder attachment. The entire Atlas Trainer Frame System ships fully assembled and includes an OSO collar for securing your plate (no plates are included with the system).

With a weight plate mounted to your pack frame, it’s easy to incorporate additional workouts into a hike, simply by removing the plate and using it for a circuit of rows, presses, front raises, etc.

You can select your Atlas Trainer in either Black or Coyote Brown. You can also choose to add an Atlas Trainer Bladder System to your order, which is designed specifically for this unit and capable of carrying up to a 3L hydration bladder.

Hunting pack and trainer
So I read the rucking review and kind of take issue with the post. So here is my review: let me start by saying if you are buying this trainer to “ruck” this isn’t your best option. BUT IF you are buying this trainer to train for your big game hunt, then look NO FURTHER. I purchased the large pack, frame and trainer in 2019. I have hunted 4 years out west with this pack, this is my 4th hunt with the pack and my 5th year out west. The trainer absolutely prepared me for the weight and conditions of packing out a large game animal. I have carried between 50-90 lbs of meat plus my gun and gear over treacherous terrain. The trainer weight puts it where you need it to understand how to properly carry an animal out. This is a HUNTING trainer not a ruck sack. So if you just want to ruck, the go ahead but do it with something built for that, not a hunting frame pack made for hunting. Finally, I agree the clips feel cheesy but they work and I have put this pack through it’s paces now and they have help just fine. My buddies all bought lighter packs but none of them can pack out their own boned out field dresses mule deer in one shot over 3 miles one way like I can…none of them! So size does matter and these guys have a system that just works awesome.

Disappointed (hopefully they make changes)
If you’re someone who is used to Rucking, and like to have your weight high and tight to your back you will be very let down with this product. The weight plate is center way too low on this frame. The Frame itself is massive, and I’m 6’ 3”, in order for the top of the frame to not hit my head is to wear the pack low, which is not conducive for Rucking, is awful for the lower back. Also, all of the clips feel very cheap and easy to break. The one solid part of this piece in my opinion is the shoulder straps and waist strap. Being that the material is thick, and appears to be durable. All in all, the price of this product exceeds the quality and does not come close to meeting the expectations. You would be much better off buying the weight plate piece from a 3rd party and attaching it to an Alice frame.
