Rogue 20KG Ohio Power Bar - Stainless Steel

The Rogue 20KG Ohio Power Bar is fully machined and assembled in Columbus, OH, using 205K PSI tensile strength steel (200K PSI for Stainless). Approved for competition by the International Powerlifting Federation, this 29MM diameter bar includes single powerlifting knurl marks and a center knurl, with the same deep, coarse (but not overly sharp) knurl pattern as our 45LB Ohio Power Bar. The 20KG bar does have a greater loadable sleeve length than the 45LB bar (16.875” vs. 16.25”). This is a result of the slightly smaller width of the collars.

One of the key factors that sets the 20KG Ohio Power Bar apart from other powerlifting barbells in the industry is its friction welded sleeves. A technique borrowed from the worlds of aviation and automotive manufacturing, the friction welding process creates a precision, forged-quality bond, resulting in superior strength and fatigue resistance, as well as a finer grain structure on the welded joint.

The 20KG Rogue Ohio Power Bar includes bronze bushings, a snap ring design, and a Stainless Steel shaft with Chrome sleeves.

Key Features of the Rogue 20KG Ohio Power Bar

  • 1200,000 PSI Steel (200,000 PSI for Stainless)

The Ohio Power Bar’s 29MM diameter steel shaft boasts a tensile strength of 200,000 PSI, delivering superior rigidity and virtually zero whip/flex. Machined and assembled in Columbus, Ohio, the bar also features a snap-ring design and quality bronze bushings for a smooth, consistent feel. IPF approved for competition.

  • 2Aggressive Knurl

The bar includes single powerlifting marks and a center knurl, each featuring a deep, coarse pattern that produces a reliable grip / stick without being sharp or abrasive. Perfecting this knurl pattern is both a science and an art. Every bar shaft is machined in Columbus on new Haas machines (built in the USA) and fine-tuned and personally tested by the Rogue team.

  • 3Friction Welded Sleeves

A technique borrowed from the worlds of aviation and automotive manufacturing, the friction welding process creates a precision, forged-quality bond, resulting in superior strength and fatigue resistance, as well as a finer grain structure on the welded joint.

  • 4Use It With These Other Rogue Products

Ohio Power Bar owners can use this barbell in conjunction with a broad range of other top caliber Rogue powerlifting products, from the Westside Bench and R-3 Power Rack to deadlift bar jacks, Wagon Wheel plates, and Calibrated Steel Plates.

  • 5Two Finish Options

The 20KG version of the Ohio Power Bar is available in your choice of two quality finishes. The Black Zinc option (black shaft, bright sleeves) provides excellent corrosion resistance, while the new Stainless Steel variation (with Chrome sleeves) creates the look and natural feel of bare steel with less upkeep required.

F Scale™
The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

Oxidation Rate
The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Rogue 20KG Ohio Power Bar - Stainless Steel is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Holy Grail I was looking and waiting for this bar to pop up for so long. The price might be high compared to other bars, but it is so worth it. The knurling feels just right and provides a lot of grip without even using chalk. Not only is it 20KG, to help prepare for powerlifting competitions, but it is also stainless steel, which will last a long time and feels the best, compared to other coats. This is the center piece and holy grail of my workout equipment because it feels right and does everything perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good bar, but Rogue could do better Short review: This is a great bar, but before you buy it, check out the 45lb version of it in case that serves your needs better. Long review: This is without a doubt a very good bar, even a great one. There are some things I wish Rogue would do differently, which they could and I hope they will. Things I love about the bar: - Workmanship: The shaft is second to none. This bar is a beautiful piece of equipment. - The knurl: This can be subjective, but I really like it. Anyone who prefers an aggressive knurl should not be disappointed. Alternately, anyone who fears a sharp knurl should not be disappointed either. I always go for the most aggressive bar in the gym, and I was pleased to see that the knurl on this bar is exactly as advertised. Aggressive, but not sharp. The description also says that it is not abrasive, which I would probably disagree with. Maybe it’s a semantic disagreement, but I’m not sure how the knurl could be aggressive and sticky without being abrasive; seems like a contradiction in terms. If you run it against soft skin, you’ll see what I mean. It is definitely not sharp though. I’ve had a bar (with mountain peak knurl) actually cut into my skin, but you do not have to worry about that with this bar. - Sleeve movement: The sleeves roll freely and smoothly, but in a controlled manner. It is perfect in that regard. - Squatting: This is a great squat bar. I typically like a little whip in the bar for squatting, but the rigidity in this bar doesn’t bother me at all. Things I wish were different about the bar: - Diameter: I wish Rogue would offer a version of it in 28mm. I suspect it’s easier to make a rigid bar at 29mm, but I prefer a thinner bar for deadlifts. It works well, but not perfect for deadlifts. - Sleeves: I wish Rogue would offer stainless steel sleeves as an option with this bar, same as the 45lb bar. In retrospect, I would probably have been happier with the 45lb version since it offers stainless steel sleeves. On a positive note, the sleeve collars are narrower on this bar, which provides a longer loadable sleeve. Things I don’t like about the bar: - Sleeve groves. I wish Rogue would offer a smooth sleeve option. It seems that the grooves make the plates slide when I want them to stick and stick when I want them to slide. The noise is annoying too, but that’s not a major issue. - Price: Not sure why this $30 more than the 45lb bar ($395 vs. $425). The only differences I see that could explain this difference is the friction welding on the 20kg bar (not mentioned in the 45lb bar) and more machining required for the sleeve collar. If you made it this far, you can probably see why I recommended checking out the 45lb bar before pulling the trigger on this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing grip, stiffness and sleeves Bought the stainless steel Ohio Power Bar about a month ago and, even though I bought it during the COVID-19 pandemic, it arrived at my doorstep about a week later. The wrapping was very good and it took me quite some time to get the bar out of the protective wrapping. The bar was so new and fresh, that there were even some steel splinters left on the knurling. The bar itself is one of the best bars I've ever used. The grip is quite aggressive (which I like, even if I use hookgrip), and there is almost no whip. I pulled about 220kg with this bar using hookgrip and I noticed the following: it left my thumbs painful but not destroyed; coming off the floor and putting it back did not show any loose sleeves; very solid stiffness. Also for squats the bar is amazing. It grips nicely but firmly on my back and I don't notice much movement of the bar on my back either (not even when it was a serious grinder). I would say that chalk is probably not required. Definitely happy with this purchase and I would recommend it to anyone considering a power bar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels great I bought this bar a month ago and have been really happy with it. Having a 29mm no whip shaft paired with the best Knurling I’ve felt makes it the perfect barbell for my training. (Squat, Bench, Deadlift, OHP, Barbell row...)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lives up to its reputation A fantastic power bar. The knurling is very grippy, but not in a cheese grater way that chews up your hands. Great to deadlift with.
