It's a heavy rope, all right.
Really happy with it. Highly recommend. I suggest using it in a Tabata format. Works real well. Careful with your shins. You can open yourself right up with this cable.

Okay. Not great.
Definitely does its’ job well of blasting your shoulders while jumping rope. However, it’s been used exclusively on smooth concrete (garage) and floor mats. No rough surfaces. And within roughly 2000-2500 turns of the rope the cable is already fraying and splintering. Not terribly. But some. Right now the center which makes contact with the floor is wrapped in electrical tape. It’s not a terribly expensive piece of equipment. But any jump rope, even a heavy rope, probably needs to last multiple tens of thousands of turns before it starts to break apart. Replaceable plastic sleeves (like a crossover rope) or some kind of durable coating at the center of the cable would do wonders for this rope. As it stands right now it’s only okay. It gets high marks for achieving its purpose. Low marks for durability.

Best way to get better with the Ropes
Month a normal speed rope over a year ago, I made more progress with using the weighted rope for a week and than I did in the year of the normal rope, my speed work is much faster and smoother, can go for minutes at a time now (Hey now ;) Use the weighted & speed rope for 15mins each a day, they work well with one another, noticed my conditioning as improved alot. Would recommend to a friend, I would also recommend putting a bit of rubber pipe on the contact point.

Great change of pace or alternate to Double Unders
Enjoying the weighted jump ropes. Something different to mix in as a cardio filler on WODs or as a good alternatives to double unders that is more taxing than just single unders with a speed rope.

As Expected
I say as expected but I had high expectations. Clean rope, moves freely, the cable doesn't retain unwanted memory, and it's well built/sturdy. I am 6'6'' and I bought the 9' version and it's perfect. I use this regularly and only on the stall mats, and there is no signs of wear. I usually do 100 rep sets to keep a steady heart rate. I've hit the toe area of my shoes and honestly it didn't hurt. The thin ropes have a whipping feeling where as this heavy cable just thuds - if that makes sense. I considered making one because I didn't want to pay the 50 bucks, but once I saw how well built it was I realized there would be no comparison. Buy once, cry once, and enjoy many future workouts with this tool.
