Rogue Olympic Weightlifting Bar - Stainless Steel

Combining a stainless steel, 200,000 PSI tensile strength shaft with industrial hard chrome sleeves and quality needle bearings, this version of the Rogue Olympic Weightlifting Bar ranks among the best in the industry for feel, durability, and performance. Each 20KG bar is machined and assembled in Columbus, OH, and includes an exclusive Rogue knurl pattern that's precision-cut for a firm grip without the sharpness or abrasiveness of many import bars.

Stainless steel is known for its unmatched oxidation resistance, but not all types produce the same level of performance. Rogue spent months researching and testing high strength stainless steel alloys, culminating in the creation of the world-record setting “Elephant Bar” used at the 2016 Arnold Strongman Classic. This bar handled one of the greatest loads in history due to the length of the shaft and sleeves as well as the use of 1,000LB of 2" thick steel plates. That very same steel went into making our 28MM Stainless Steel Olympic Bar, and it's a difference you can instantly feel.

Now Available with Optional Black Cerakote Branding:
Customers can now choose between the standard Stainless Steel shaft (with no finish) or a Stainless Steel shaft with a black Cerakote finish on the center portion between the knurling. Cerakote is a highly durable finish in its own right, first popularized in the gun industry, and it enables a wide range of custom colorways and branding options. In this case, we’ve created a photo-negative effect, as the un-coated Rogue logo is branded inside the black Cerakote finish.

Rogue also offers the Olympic Weightlifting Bar in a Bright Zinc finish and a Bright Zinc 15KG Olympic Weighlifting Women’s Bar.

KEY FEATURES OF THE ROGUE OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING BAR - STAINLESS

1

Tensile Strength

This version of the Olympic Bar is made from high-strength, stainless steel alloys, producing a shaft with a minimum tensile strength of 200,000 PSI. Each shaft is ground and polished prior to machining (to ensure a smooth finish), and individually tested and straightened to within 0.015” (0.38MM). The goal was to create just the right amount of “whip” or “flex” that is needed for Olympic lifting.

2

Precision Machining

Every Oly Bar is machined in Columbus, Ohio, on new Haas machines that are built in the USA. For the Olympic knurl marks, we experimented with several knurling patterns before choosing the full but minimally aggressive texture that top weightlifters responded to best. Rather than relying on visibility alone, each bar is then manually tested to ensure the actual “feel” is up to Rogue standards.

3

The Difference of Stainless Steel

With no plating, the knurl on the Stainless Steel Olympic Weightlifting Bar is left exactly how we machined it, providing a great feel that cannot be achieved with other finishes. It’s similar to the knurl feel from a bare steel shaft, but with better corrosion resistance. Please Note: Rogue recommends using a synthetic bristle brush, NOT a steel brush, to clean a stainless steel shaft. Steel on steel can cause rusting over time. See more tips here: Bar Care & Maintenance.

4

Needle Bearings

Our Olympic Weightlifting Bar features 10 sets of needle bearings (5 sets per sleeve) that produce a smooth, reliable spin across day-to-day use. Each bar is individually calibrated and built to meet IWF standards.

5

A New Addition to Your Rogue Arsenal

As the leading manufacturer of strength and conditioning equipment, Rogue offers a wide range of Olympic bearing bars and related gear. This includes the original Rogue Olympic WL Bar and the elite 28MM Oly Bar - Cerakote, which features a 200,000 PSI steel shaft. You can also fully equip your bar with quality plates, collars, and exclusive barbell storage options.

F Scale™

The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

Oxidation Rate

The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Great bar
I've had this bar for almost 2 years now. I used it for weightlifting initially but now it is also my go-to deadlift bar. I also have a stainless Ohio bar and for me, 28mm makes a difference vs. 28.5mm. I've read complaints about spin. I think it may just be a break-in issue with getting the lube distributed. The spin is far better after 2 years of weekly use. This is a great bar.

Great Oly Bar
I bought this bar to replace my old Costco special. The new bar is stiff and straight. It spins well. The knurling is aggressive so the clear center section is important.

Excellent Oly Bar
I just received my Rogue 490C Rack, set it up and have been using the Stainless Sreel Oly Bar for a week now a could not be more pleased. I should get back to the heavy weights within a coiple weeks and really put it to the test. I have no doubts I will get many years of service out of the S.S. Olympic Bar. Thank you.

Satisfies the Engineer and the Weightlifter
During the Rona pandemic, my wife and I both purchased bars. I went with this one and I’m glad I did. Excellent knurling (May be a bit aggressive for hang complexes, but stop crying and build calluses, or use straps like me) Great whip- material selection was perfect for this, the modulus of elasticity on this steel combined with its high ultimate tensile strength means you can have great whip with a very resilient bar. Great Spin- Bar spins very well and I knew this from going to Rouge equipped meets. It may not spin as great as an Eleiko, but when lifting you could not tell the difference. I was expecting the bearings to ride a little quieter than they do when i tested them, but i also do not know how they are built. I haven’t taken it apart to grease yet.

It's an OK bar
Love the feel of the knurl. Bar looks amazing. My problem is one end spins great the other is rough. Overall other than the "feel" of the bar it's nothing special. If both ends would spin correctly it would be a really nice bar. I'd look elsewhere if I were to buy another one. This is the 5th bar I've purchased with the Rogue name on it 4 new and 1 used, this is the only one that disappointed me. Maybe I should have reached out to customer service when I first got it but I wasn't sure if this was normal and maybe needed to be broken in, I was wrong. Plenty of Rogue name brand equipment in my gym I'm not trashing the name but this bar makes me a little cautious about buying Rogue just because it's Rogue.

Amazing barbell
I've had this bar for about a month now and it has been amazing from the second I saw it on my doorstep. It comes packaged in a Rogue box and clear wrapped when you pull it out. The knurling is comfortable and definitely present in your lifts but not overpowering or unpleasant. If you read reviews on other olympic style barbells most people say that you will start feeling the whip in the bar once you're over 225lbs. But with the Rogue Olympic Bar you'll start feeling the whip in your squats and cleans at 185lbs. I was surprised by the sleeves on this barbell. I have always had and seen barbells that had smooth sleeves that allowed plates to slide on easily and relatively quietly. On this barbell there are ridges on the entirety of the sleeve that makes a rather unpleasant and loud sound when sliding competition bumpers on and off. I built a gym in the living room of my apartment so I try to be quiet when I workout and I would have bought HG bumpers if I knew about the sleeves. I have a pair of 10lb HG bumpers that slide on very quietly and smoothly. Overall this is an amazing barbell that has all of the features you need to get you ready for the weightlifting platform!
