Funnel Filler Bag vs. Traditional Filler Bags:

As an alternative to using multiple traditional filler bags, a single, budget-friendly Funnel Filler Bag can be installed by aligning its outer Velcro with the interior Velcro of the Rogue Sandbag. From there, you can use the convenient, built-in funnel to easily add as much sand as you want (for more movement, use less volume). Users interested in quick, repeated weight changes may prefer to stick with the modular, traditional filler bags.

The table below explains how many Traditional Filler Bags OR how many Funnel Filler Bags go into each size variant of the Rogue Sandbag.

IMPORTANT:

  • The SIZE of the filler bags you choose to order from the drop-down menu should correspond directly to the SIZE of the Rogue Sandbag in which you intend to use them (S, M, L, or XL).
  • Each Rogue Sandbag can hold 3-4 traditional filler bags of the corresponding size depending on how full you make them. If the traditional filler bags are completely filled, you will only be able to fit 2-3. All variants of the Rogue Sandbag will hold ONE Funnel Filler Bag of the corresponding size filled to capacity.
  • The Funnel Filler Bag should be placed inside the Sandbag BEFORE adding sand.
  • Recommended use on rubber or nonabrasive surface

  • 1Instability Builds Strength

The sandbag is a unique type of weightlifting tool in that its weight constantly shifts back and forth from the center of mass, challenging the user to adjust and stabilize the bag’s ever-changing shape as it’s raised and lowered. The new Rogue Sandbag (when paired with the Funnel Filler Bag) capitalizes on this key fundamental by allowing the internal sand/weight to move more freely as you train, whether its during load carries, sprints, drags and throws, squats, lunges, or presses.
Please Note: The intended use for this product is as a weight lifting (not weight dragging!) tool.

  • 2Choice of Filler Bags

As noted above, each size of Rogue Sandbag (S, M, L, XL) is compatible with either (a) 2-4 standard, modular filler bags of the same corresponding size; or (b)ONE Funnel Filler Bag of the same corresponding size. This means you can either quickly add/remove modular bags to adjust the total weight of the sandbag, or add/remove the sand itself incrementally from the Funnel Filler Bag.
To Add Sand to the Funnel Filler Bag: Unzip the heavy-duty zipper to find a tucked roll secured with Velcro. Use the thumb tabs to open and fill to your preferred volume.

  • 3Quality Construction

Made in the USA, Rogue Sandbags feature a 1000D MIL spec Cordura brand nylon construction (water-resistant and machine washable) with double-stitched, reinforced seams. Each bag also has 7 exterior carrier handles made from two layers of webbing with reinforced stitching—strong enough to handle any and all swinging, pulling, and twisting. A heavy-duty zipper and reinforced Velcro flap closure won’t even let a sand granule free, and additional Velcro is sewn into the bag's interior walls to align with and stabilize the Funnel Filler Bag.

  • 4Related Conditioning Gear

Customers who’ve benefited from the use of Rogue Sandbags have also routinely added some of our other portable, American-made conditioning equipment to their arsenals—including our durable Rogue Medicine Balls and the Echo Dog Sled. Rogue Strongman Sandbags feature the same 1000D MIL Spec US Cordura construction as our standard sandbags in a compact cylindrical form—creating a go-anywhere alternative to heavy balls and atlas stones.

  • 53-Year Warranty

Rogue Sandbags are sewn at Rogue Manufacturing in Columbus, OH, and are warrantied for 3 years against any exterior rips or tears caused by regular use. If you experience this type of damage, we will repair or replace the shell free of charge.
Please Note: (a) Adding sand directly to the Sandbag, rather than filler bag(s), will void the warranty; (b) This warranty applies ONLY to the item's shell. We will not replace/exchange the entire product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and well made Once again rogue didnt disapoint. I wanted a medium size bag which wouldnt leak sand and was functional enough to do lifts and home workouts with. Look no more. I got the medium size bag with medium funnel bag. I read some comments mentioning it being hard to fill. I found some youtube videos to help but it basically comes down to 2 things. Method and material. I got play sand from my local hardware store at $5 a bag (50lbs each) and it worked fine. The filling of the bag was a process but patience pays off here. Put the EMPTY filler bag in before you do anything, then start pouring sand little by little. Eventually you will have to start shifting sand around the bag to fill properly. Lift it a few times and let the sand settle. Then repeat over and over until you reach the very top. Then, about 10 min later congrats you are done. I got 81.6 lbs in mine and its nice and full. Amazing material, feels durable as F. Not surprising coming from rogue, best product hands down. Thanks Rogue, keep it up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built, but loading is a challenge. Well built, but loading is a challenge. I plan to get much use out of the 80# bag. It is well constructed, just as the other equipment Rogue Fitness builds. To get the full 80# limit of this bag, I highly recommend using lead shot, as loading the filler bags to capacity with sand and expecting to stuff 80# into the outter shell WILL NOT work. Lead shot is pricey, but after several failed attempts at loading with just sand, then a sand/pea gravel mix, I bit the bullet and bought 3 25# bags of #8 buckshot (size of the shot really doesn't matter, they're all 25# bags and the same price, $39.99 at Cabela's). I left the buckshot in the bags in which it came and dropped them into the filler bags. I put 2 bags of buckshot in one filler bag for a 50 pounder and the 3rd bag of buckshot into another filler bag and added 5# of gravel/sand mix I had on hand to make a 30 pounder. To get the increments I wanted, I also made 20#, 15#, and 10# bags with my sand/gravel mix. I highly recommend this bag, but please follow my advice in loading the filler bags if you want similar increments and to get the full 80 pounds. You'll be glad you did!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT! About to order my second bag as we've worked past the weight capacity of the current one. While I supposed it's meant to be a supplemental workout, my buddy and I have embraced it as our main resistance routine; feels like more practical work. Still get in traditional weight training every now and then, but mostly we throw around and carry the bag. We hate it and love it. You know what that means. Something so theraputic, satisfying and challenging picking heavy things up, getting a grip on it and throwing them around. Great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect Mother's Day gift. What does one get for their 67 year old mom that likes carrying in bags of wood pellets daily but only has so many to pile up in a year? A 40lb sand bag to do loaded carries to keep her in heating season shape when she runs out. She absolutely loved it. Great product. Solid construction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality sandbags with a few drawbacks. Sandbags are built to last. There are however a few drawbacks. The handles are somewhat thin which can start to be bothersome once the weight starts adding up. The filler bags don't fit if they are full. You have to empty them out if you want to get the correct number of bags in there (which means less weight in the bags). Overall still very happy with the sandbags and would recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best sand bag I have ever owned or trained with Main thing and issue coming up, the funnel filler is awesome and agree with the post below. If you want it full to weight capacity, there is no way you are filling it outside of the outer shell. I filled and shifted the sand 5-6 times to get over 80 lbs in a medium. Dropped it a few times to pack it and filled more to get about 87-88 lbs in it. I turned it over to let any overflow sand inside the outer shell to come out, then I used a shop vac to suck out any remaining. I train with it indoors on MMA mats and haven't had sand on the mats, and we throw these things. Only issue the ones I bought from the games all the crossfit letters are peeling off, which I don't care about. Every few months I open and check the filler bag zipper and Velcro to refasten and rezip if anything moved and vac out any sand that leaked through. Great buy, going for the XL next and use for throws and takedown training

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I doubt you can find something better So this is the second sandbag I have purchased, probably the 5th or so that I have used, and I am doubtful there is anything better. Please let me tell you why. the main reason I bought the Rogue sandbag was simply because of the funnel filler bag. It's just my opinion, but I would not recommend to anyone to use a sandbag with multiple filler bags. For me, I prefer the feel of gripping 1 big filler bag vs 2 half filled bags of equal weight. I know others that have reviewed have the opposite opinion, and that's cool. Different strokes for different folks. One problem that I disliked about my first sandbag was the amount of space between the filler bags and the outer shell. In some cases, I just felt that I was gripping the outer shell as opposed to the sand in the bag. With the funnel filler, there's no space between any bags, so when I grab the sandbag I don't need to worry about needing to grab both bags or the bags sagging down the outer shell. I can really feel the sand when I grab the bag when not using the handles. This is important to me, because I don't use the handles for most exercises and can really feel the sand shifting in my grip. Anyways, the funnel bags are secured into the outer shell with Velcro, which did give me a hard time when I filled the funnel bag and tried to insert into the outer shell. I see that others had this problem too, but eventually I got it to fit. All 80lbs of sand into the medium. A bit of advice though, secure the funnel bag into the outer shell first then fill the funnel bag. Going back to why I love the funnel bag, traditional filler bags fill at the end. I am not sure if rogue's traditional filler bags would, but my first bag had a filler bag that burst undone at the opening and leaked. True, I wasn't gentle with the sandbag, but I doubt anyone using a sandbag for serious training would be. Looking at the design, the funnel filler is not gonna leak. Double Velcro, tuck it in, and then zip it up. Plus it fills in the middle, so any force is likely to directed away from the filler opening. Brilliant. I searched around and but couldn't find another retailer or manufacturer with any sort of similar design. You can tell that rogue put the same thought into the design of the outer shell as well. To close the shell, it's zipper then Velcro. On top of that, I would be shocked if I can't use this thing in 20 years for any reason besides strength of my body. It looks to be built to last. Moving on, one thing that you may see in some sandbag designs are flaps on the ends. Rogue though has proper handles, which I find to be a trend in newer sandbags. I do have two minor complaints though. The first complaint is just the diameter of the bag. I find that because of the larger diameter, I have difficulty performing one handed shouldering. It is bigger in diameter than my previous bag. The second complaint, is regarding the handles. On my previous bag, the handle material, which is the same as with the Rogue sandbag, was extremely abrasive on my hands that I had to wrap some cloth and duct tape around them. I haven't had a problem yet with Rogue's, because I try to avoid the handles when I train. Still though, I have seen and used more comfortable handles on other sandbags, so there's room for improvement. I did notice that the handles were much wider than the ones of my first sand bag, which seems to help. I may just go back to the cloth and duct tape solution later on, but we'll see. If you've read this far, thanks, but one more thing. Sandbags are getting more popular now, and if I were strapped for cash, then I could have purchased an 80lb sandbag for a third or a quarter of price at another retailer close by. It likely would have done 90% of what I wanted. So if cash is a concern, there are alternatives and I encourage others to shop around. It's like comparing a Mercedes to a Ford. Both will get you from A to B, but one is significantly cheaper, but has less of the frills. Since I made smaller sandbags out of my old filler bags, I don't have to decrease the weight of the bag, which is why the Rogue sandbag with funnel filler is perfect for me. I find that taking filler bags out and putting them back in requires too much effort. I don't think I would have spent this much if I had just started getting into sandbag training, but at this point I knew exactly what I wanted. If you just want the best, then Rogue's sandbag would be a good choice. It's not perfect, but it's not too far off. It was worth it for me, but you gotta decide for yourself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great bag but misleading description I bought the medium bag with the more expensive 3 traditional filler bags. Was excited to have at or near 80# with all 3 bags and be able to swap out bags for lesser weight if needed. 1st, there is no way to fit 3 full filler bags of the medium variety into the bag. Not a chance. After writing to rogue about them not fitting, they told me that the filler bags had to emptied considerably to get them to fit and that it would only max out around 60#. Despite all of the emptying, they are still difficult to fit in quickly which makes adjustments on the fly very slow. Wish they would have been more upfront about this in their product description. 60# is a long way off from the 80# described. Had I known, I would have just opted for the cheaper funnel bag. Otherwise, the bag is fun to use and seems to be constructed well, (except for some bad stitching on the velcro of one of the filler bags which is only worth mentioning because they are not cheap).
