Josh Bridges

Known for playing both the underdog and the comeback kid, Josh Bridges has carved out a reputation as one of the toughest pound-for-pound athletes in CrossFit. A former U.S. Navy SEAL, he adapted his wrestling background to the realm of CrossFit in 2005 and quickly made his mark by finishing 2nd in his debut at the 2011 CrossFit Games—a stunning achievement for a 5’5”, 160-pound competitor.

Bridges’ resilience has been a consistent theme. After overcoming a serious knee injury in 2012, he returned to win his Regional in 2013 and delivered solid top-10 Game finishes: 7th in 2013 and 4th in 2014. With first-place Regional finishes again in 2016 and 2017, he earned his way back to Madison in 2018, proving that he remained a top-tier athlete even into his mid-30s.

Beyond live competition, Bridges continues to challenge himself and inspire others. A standout moment was his dominant win in “Murph” at the 2016 Games, celebrated by fans around the world.

More than 15 years after his Games debut, Bridges remains fiercely competitive. With six Games appearances and three Top-10 finishes, he stands as a symbol of perseverance.
