Mattie Rogers

American weightlifter Mattie Rogers remains one of the most decorated and influential figures in the sport.

By age 22, Mattie had secured titles as a World University Champion, American Open Champion, and “Best Overall Lifter” at the 2016 National Championships and Olympic Trials—though she narrowly missed making Team USA that year. Her breakthrough arrived in 2019, when she became the first American woman to medal at three consecutive World Championships, earning silvers in the 69 kg (2017), 71 kg (2019), and 76 kg (2021) divisions and setting U.S. records in both the snatch and clean & jerk.

In 2021, Mattie continued her dominance at the World level by claiming another silver in the 76 kg category at Tashkent—her fourth straight world medal . That same year at the Pan American Championships, she set records for the snatch (111 kg), clean & jerk (141 kg), and total (252 kg).

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021), Rogers competed in the 87 kg class, finishing 6th with lifts of 108 kg (snatch) and 138 kg (clean & jerk).

She continued her dominance on the continental stage: at the 2022 Pan American Championships, Mattie won gold in the 76 kg class with a strong performance. Later that year, she earned her fifth straight silver medal at the World Championships in Bogotá.

Most recently, at the 2025 USA Weightlifting Senior National Championships, Mattie claimed 77 kg national champion status with an impressive 241 kg total
