In treating constipation it is necessary to know something of the patient’s condition, such as their weight and physical condition before prescribing a diet. Those who are overweight or average weight and constipated should eat plenty of coarse foods and follow a diet containing roughage of all kinds, while those who are underweight usually have sagging internal organs due to a lack of internal fat which should support the organs in proper place.
