For the young man not possessing a set of weights, like the bar bell, dumb bell and kettle bell, the old standard exercise or stunt of “chinning” the bar is very .effective as a developer of the latissimus dorsi (the broad back muscles under the arm pits). The bar, pipe, trapeze or whatever is to be used for the purpose, should be grasped with the hands in such a way that the palms are facing the athlete, the knuckles turned away.
