How I Have Conquered T.B. – Strength Magazine – July, 1925

At the age of one year, after I had been in miser- able health from the time I entered this world, the family doctor took my father aside and said, “I hate to upset you, old man, but that child will not live beyond his early youth!” My father was thunderstruck. He groped for words, but not one came. And the doctor continued: “The boy has weak lungs. You can prolong his life by giving him good food and seeing that he does not overexert himself. I thought it my duty to warn you.” Then the man of medicine took another peep at me in my cradle, and went out of the house wearing a ·doleful expression.
