There is in America today an amazingly wide spread revival of interest in magic. This is true from the standpoint of both professional and amateur entertainers. And the reason is apparent: people really enjoy being mystified. They have since time immemorial, and the more skilfully they are fooled by the arts of the conjurer, the heartier their appreciation. For a time the motion pictures and other innovations deflected the public’s attention from magical entertainments, but now the public has caught its breath and is finding the same old delight in clever tricks, sleights, and illusions.
