Key Features of This Ohio Bar:

  • 1New 190,000 PSI Steel

This steel is manufactured in the US and has proven to be one of the best steel variants for a multi-purpose barbell. Each barbell shaft is ground and polished prior to machining which allows the bar to have a very smooth finish post any black oxide or black zinc finish.

  • 2Machining

Every bar shaft is machined in Columbus, Ohio. A great deal of pride is built into each bar as the knurling process is an art. We spent months working on the knurl we believe to be the best for the Ohio Bar. To test the knurl it is more a beer tasting process than exact measurement. There is a look and feel that go into testing every bar.

  • 3Fit and Finish

Each Ohio Bar finish offers a different level of oxidization protection and has a direct effect on the feel of the knurl.

Black Oxide is a mild oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment will still require some maintenance but will give the best knurl feel, more like a naked bar.

Zinc is a medium oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment requires minimal maintenance and is used on The Rogue and Bella Bars.

The Ohio Bar is also available in Stainless Steel & an advanced ceramic-based coating called Cerakote.

  • 4Assembly

The Ohio Bar is assembled with bronze bushings which act as bearing surfaces between the bar sleeve and bar shaft. This is a very robust way of building a barbell. Each bar will come with an Ohio Bar card that has the initials of the Rogue team member that built the bar.

  • 5Performance

This bar will have normal “whip” during Olympic weightlifting and enough stiffness to hold for heavy powerlifting. The steel in this bar is proven as an excellent choice for weightlifters.

  • 6Fast Rogue Shipping

Rogue prides itself on fast, professional shipping. If your bar is ordered by 3PM EST Monday-Friday, it will ship same day. Your bar will be packaged safely and ship fast. You can follow the progress of your order using the Rogue Shipping Tracker.

F Scale™
The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

Oxidation Rate
The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Whichever barbell finish you choose, Rogue has provided some helpful tips for long term Bar Care & Maintenance.

The Ohio Bar - Black Oxide is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 330.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around bar I’ve received my bar a few months ago and I love it. I have been using the rogue Olympic weightlifting bar for a few years and wanted to add another bar and stainless steal is the way to go for a garage gym. Minimal up keep by comparison and the knurl is great. I’m not sure I lift heavy enough to notice a big difference in the whip, but I do prefer the slightly thicker bar when doing anything other than the Olympic lifts just because of how it feels in my hands. For those that are wondering if you will notice a spin difference between the Ohio bar and an Oly weightlifting bar, my experience says you will not if you are new to lifting. At this point I can feel a slight difference but it’s very easy to adapt to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gr8 Buy I bought this bar around 7 years ago with the black oxide shaft/sleeves (or was it the zinc?). I needed a quality, all-around bar, and it does not disappoint. I live in Los Angeles, have only cleaned it once with 3-in-1 oil, and the bar still performs well. It's not cerakote, but she's my baby, and I love her just the way she is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicest Bar I have ever used Dudes, I am a serious lifter with serious needs. I belong to a gym that shut down, so I say let's not mess around no more and just build a gym. I just got my stuff yesterday and didn't realize the difference between standard gym bar compared to this bar. I honestly went from a max deadlift of 200 pounds to a max deadlift of 225. The bar felt amazing from start of the lift to the end. I actually convinced a lot of my buddies to get one. So you are welcome Rogue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome bar! It was a no brainer for me to purchase a rogue bar. They are the best in the industry! I love the cerakote color option to get a more custom looking bar! My gym isn’t doesn’t yet.. this is just phase 1 of the items I got but the red bar looks good! I’ve used Ohio bars before in the gyms I used to go to but now that I live a little more in the country, I have decided to go the home gym route. It’s a great all around bar and no need for a specialty bar unless you really want to specialize in a particular lift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, Do It All, Barbell I would say that this is one of the most versatile bars you can own. If you are looking for just one bar that will enable you to do practically everything with it (the olympic lifts, powerlifting, general strength training, etcetera)-- I would say go ahead and go with the Ohio Bar. It is stiff enough to perform heavy pressing, pulling and squatting-- but it also has enough whip to do the olympic lifts well. It is a very nice compromise between the two lifting styles while providing a reliable spin on the collars. The knurling is perfect, I feel it is one of the best qualities about the bar. It is not too aggressive, but still extremely grippy without biting into your hands, very nice job Rogue. I went with the black oxide and I am very happy with it. I have really enjoyed using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Bar I'm by no means an expert on any type of lifting, but having had the bar for a couple weeks now, it feels better (smoother bearing, perfect knurl) than other bars I've used in gyms. Shipping something like this is no easy feat, it arrived with packaging tore on one end, but the bar had no scratches or defects at all. Great to buy made in USA too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Bar Absolute quality through and through. Love my Ohio bar and love the color option!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Versatile Bar Only problem with the bar is that the sleeves wear down and get scratched up so fast when using iron plates on it....but its workout equipment, don't expect it to look new forever. If you are wanting a versatile bar that works with many styles of lifting such as olympic, powerlifting, and other things then this is the bar for you. KNURL: The knurl is nice and does not tear into your hands when doing any type of olympic or powerlifting exercises but still provides plenty of grip for your exercises. The Ohio Bar does not have a center knurl like the power bar, but I much more prefer this when doing lifts like squats because it does not tear into my back and make me uncomfortable when lifting. You may want to opt for the ohio power bar for this reason though if the center knurl is a must for you. SPIN: The bar spins nicely for olympic lifts and feels great with no clunkiness in the bearings that would keep the bar from spinning correctly. OVERALL: Happy with this product and recommend it to anybody who plans on doing many different styles of lifting because of the versatility of this bar.
