KEY FEATURES OF THIS OHIO BAr

1

New 190,000 PSI Steel

This steel is manufactured in the US and has proven to be one of the best steel variants for a multi-purpose barbell. Each barbell shaft is ground and polished prior to machining which allows the bar to have a very smooth finish post any black oxide or black zinc finish.

2

Machining

Every bar shaft is machined in Columbus, Ohio. A great deal of pride is built into each bar as the knurling process is an art. We spent months working on the knurl we believe to be the best for the Ohio Bar. To test the knurl it is more a beer tasting process than exact measurement. There is a look and feel that go into testing every bar.

3

Fit and Finish

Each Ohio Bar finish offers a different level of oxidization protection and has a direct effect on the feel of the knurl.

Black Oxide is a mild oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment will still require some maintenance but will give the best knurl feel, more like a naked bar.

Zinc is a medium oxidization protectant process. This type of steel treatment requires minimal maintenance and is used on The Rogue and Bella Bars.

The Ohio Bar is also available in  Stainless Steel & an advanced ceramic-based coating called Cerakote.

4

Assembly

The Ohio Bar is assembled with bronze bushings which act as bearing surfaces between the bar sleeve and bar shaft. This is a very robust way of building a barbell. Each bar will come with an Ohio Bar card that has the initials of the Rogue team member that built the bar.

Performance

This bar will have normal “whip” during Olympic weightlifting and enough stiffness to hold for heavy powerlifting. The steel in this bar is proven as an excellent choice for weightlifters.

F SCALE™

The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

OXIDATION RATE

The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Whichever barbell finish you choose, Rogue has provided some helpful tips for long term Bar Care & Maintenance.

Fantastic features, clearly the best in the indust
Where do I start? I purchased a full set of plates and the Ohio zinc bar from Rogue. I ordered these at the recommendation of a friend of mine who had great experiences with Rogue gear. My wife and I created a home gym due to the crazy gym membership prices where we live, and while Rogue isn't the least expensive option available, their quality speaks volumes. I ordered the zinc Ohio bar with a set of deep dish 45s, 35s, and 25s, plus 10s, 5s, and 2.5s. The quality is superb and I can tell this is a set that will last several years and hundreds of workouts! If I ever become strong enough to buy more weight, Rogue will be my first stop. Big thanks to the Rogue team on their craftsmanship.

Functional Bar; Poor Cerakote Application
Purchased this two years ago and after about 1-2 months, noticed some rusting in the areas where my hands are typically for deadlifts/cleans. I thought that if I kept oiling the bar every 3-4 weeks, I would mitigate the rusting and the areas wouldn’t get worse. The bar stays in the garage, is brushed regularly to prevent chalk from sitting on it too long, and only has one user. I understand that the humidity here in TX doesn’t help but I expected better out of a rogue barbell. I am very disappointed with the quality of the cerakote coating. Now, I can’t let the bar go longer a couple before the rust gets really bad on it. We bought the junior barbell that has the black zinc coating around the same time and there is no rusting. Doesn’t make sense unless there was a bad application of the cerakote.

Stop debating.
I am a very particular person; I looked for months researching all types of barbells. All the knurl patterns, all the finishes. I did the analysis of cost over time in terms of investment and I finally built up the courage to buy the stainless Ohio bar. The second I opened it, I knew I had made the right choice. It's not as stiff as a Power bar for squats, but for every other thing I do with it, I couldn't be happier. I touch my barbell 6 days a week. The cost of that barbell is $1.60/day for the first year I lift. I expect to have this stainless steel barbell the rest of my life.

Used bar?
Got my Ohio bar in just yesterday. Was super stoked. Unfortunately, as soon as I pull it out of the box I immediately noticed chips on the sleeve and the logo coming apart. Seriously! Not what I’d expect when paying premium for a reputable bar and company. Really not what I was expecting from Rogue.

Great Bar
Love the knurling, smooth rotation of the sleeves and the sleek look of the black zinc coating. I opted for the black zinc since this will be used in a closed garage with high summer humidity and cold winters in NJ, so hoping that the coating will extend life of bar. Arrived in heavy duty packaging with no damage to bar. Zero complaints after seven weeks of ownership, would purchase again.

Fantastic. Typical Rogue- high quality.
Home gym use. Navy/black cerekote, looks brand new over a year later. What can be said that hasn't already? All my Rogue bars so far have been extremely nice quality and very durable.

most excellent bar
I had been eyeing this bar for far too long and once my gym closed due to CV19 I picked one up to replace a cheap bar I had picked up at Play It Again Sports and so glad I did. There's sometimes truth in the saying "you get what you pay for". Excellent quality bar at a good price point. I wish I could say I have used it a lot, yet after 2 years it looks pretty new.
