Rogue Ohio Power Bar - Cerakote

Our 29MM Ohio Power Bar is now available in a Cerakote finish, with a range of exclusive colorways to choose from. This unique polymer-ceramic composite coating was originally popularized in the gun industry for its durability in thin applications, and it offers up to 100x the corrosion resistance of standard black zinc.

Aside from the finish, the Cerakote Ohio Power Bar is manufactured to the same general specifications as the original model, combining a 205,000 PSI, zero-flex steel shaft with quality bronze bushings and a snap ring design for a smooth, consistent spin. The bar features single powerlifting knurl marks and center knurling, machined in a pattern that’s deep and coarse without being sharp or abrasive. This makes the Ohio Power Bar a perfectly honed workhorse for the bench, squat, and deadlift.

The 45LB Cerakote Ohio Power Bar is machined and assembled in Columbus, Ohio, USA, and currently comes in the four colorway options listed below. Note: The Rogue logo on each shaft is slightly off-center due to the center knurling.

KEY FEATURES OF THE CERAKOTE OHIO POWER BAR

1

Cerakote Strength + Custom Colors

This version of the Rogue Ohio Power Bar is distinct for its use of Cerakote, a ceramic-based coating commonly trusted by firearm manufacturers for its remarkable durability in thin applications. This unique finish can deliver superb abrasion/wear/corrosion resistance over time—100X that of standard black zinc—and it’s available to order in a range of exclusive colorways, with the Rogue logo branded on the center of the shaft. See the menu for current color combination options.

2

Steel Shaft

The Ohio Power Bar’s 29MM diameter steel shaft boasts a tensile strength of 205,000 PSI, delivering superior rigidity and virtually zero whip/flex. Machined and assembled in Columbus, Ohio, the bar also features a snap-ring design and quality bronze bushings for a smooth, consistent feel.

3

Aggressive Knurl

The bar includes single powerlifting marks and a center knurl, each featuring a deep, coarse pattern that produces a reliable grip / stick without being sharp or abrasive. Perfecting this knurl pattern is both a science and an art. Every bar shaft is machined in Columbus on new Haas machines (built in the USA) and fine-tuned and personally tested by the Rogue team.

4

Part of the Rogue Powerlifting Arsenal

Ohio Power Bar owners can use this barbell in conjunction with a broad range of other top caliber Rogue powerlifting products, from our power racks and squat stands to the Westside Bench, deadlift bar jacks, Wagon Wheel plates, and Calibrated Steel Plates.

5

Lifetime Warranty

The Ohio Power Bar’s quality construction is backed by Rogue’s Lifetime Warranty against bending. This is a barbell equipped for high intensity, everyday use. Please Note: The warranty does not cover damage due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user, i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage. Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

F Scale™

The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

Oxidation Rate

The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Rust
These bars will rust. They will rust regardless if you are using them or not. They were in my garage as a spare if I needed to work out at home and didn't have time to go to the gym. I'm very dissatisfied with this product and when I called customer service, I was basically told, it's steel what did you expect! I now have an orange bar from rust.

Good News, Bad News
To me, the best feature of the Stainless Steel Ohio Power Bar is the knurling. It is aggressive enough for a good hold on deadlifts, it sticks on your back during squats and is not at all objectionable for benching. If you’re going to have one bar for powerlifting this is a great choice. The issue I have with the bar they sent me is that when spun, one sleeve makes a rather loud scratching and grinding noise. The other sleeve spins quietly and smoothly and for a much longer time. The response I got from Rogue was that they “don’t have a spec for noise made by the sleeve” and the based on the video I sent them, the bar looks “completely normal” and is in “good working order”. It is a great bar but it doesn’t seem “normal” to me. To clarify, I ordered a new SS OPB not a boneyard bar. Bottom line is they generally make great, high quality bars but if there is an issue don’t expect much concern from Rogue.

Love the knurl
I bought this a few months ago and love it. The knurl is just the right amount of aggressive and I appreciate the center knurl for squatting. However, the quality control at Rogue confuses me. This came with a noticeable blemish on the sleeve where the cerakote coating is chipped off exposing the steal underneath. Not a huge deal and doesn't affect performance. But I also own a Boneyard Bar that came without any noticeable blemish at all. It all evened out for me in the end, but it is strange.

Superb specialty bar for power lifting
I purchased the SS 45lb Ohio Power Bar from the boneyard and have been using it for a couple of months. I also own SS 20KG Ohio Bar and SS 20KG Oly. No surprises with stiffness or knurl compared to the other bars. The difference between the Power and Ohio is mainly in the knurl. The Power bar is stiffer as load or acceleration increases or as grip width decreases, but these diameter and stiffness differences are going to be minutiae to most lifters. I do prefer the stronger knurl of the OPB for squats and bench, but not for overhead work, where an aggressive center knurl is a distraction at best. I'm sure the OHP is perfectly serviceable for deadlifts but I use the Oly owing to its 28mm diameter vs. 29mm for the OPB, and I have no issues with Oly's moderate knurl (with chalk) to top sets in the mid 400s. For lifters that would purchase a single bar, I think the SS Ohio is the most versatile bar in the Rogue lineup as it is good for almost any application, with no major down sides. The SS OPB is superb for power lifting movements.
